Travelers' Choice
This artfully designed boutique Hotel and Restaurant in Suffolk reflects luxury and dazzles in the waterfront of Ipswich's vibrant Harbour quayside at night. The Salthouse Harbour Hotel goes beyond what you expect and exudes its 4 star status in every curious corner, eccentric sofa and unstuffy cushion. The sea-salted brickwork exterior has been restored & rejuvenated into a ship shape contemporary warehouse of rich modern interiors and rooms adorned with vintage furniture, sculptures and eclectic art. Within its comfy chic decor, although the mood is friendly and relaxed, the staff are professionally attentive to your every need. The cuisine is exciting and the popularity of the Salthouse Eaterie fills this delightful waterfront restaurant as soon as the tables are laid.

From start to finish, the staff made our stay. Parking is something of an issue- limited on-site and the road in front is closed so you are a bit unsure what to do, especially as the route in is one-way. Staff were extremely helpful on the phone but more so when we arrived and immediately sorted out public car park payment for me, whilst my other half went to park. The daily charge was £16, however, on departure, the hotel offered to knock this off my bill- not expected and a lovely offer. Room service breakfast was excellent, extra coffee for the room instantly supplied on request and the shower was wonderful. What might have blighted our stay- parking- became a minor and insignificant detail when set against the excellent service. To top it off, I left my electric toothbrush behind- tracked down and posted out to me.

Tiny car park but managed to find the last space for our two night stay. Went out the next day, on our return the car park was full and locked. Had to go to a public car park about 7 minutes walk away. Had to haul our luggage there the next morning, good job it wasn't raining. Cost £12. Food choice very limited but quality OK. Staff very good and helpful. Room was big but I would have liked a light in the wardrobe and a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Toilet seat was very low and I hated the taps which you turned anti-clockwise to get cold and then kept going to get hot. Very boutique.

Spent a lovely couple of nights in room 411, with great views of the marina. Unfortunately, we didn't get into the hotel car park for the first night and we didn't manage to find the alternative car park until twice found the one-way system! However, we were able to for the second night. The staff were really helpful & friendly and both breakfasts were excellent. The second breakfast we had in our room & got the delicious bacon sandwiches 'to go' (as suggested in their menu), which we had later.

My family and I just had a wonderful birthday lunch today (19 Sep). From the moment we were greeted and seated we had a flawless experience. I am the HR manager for a luxury hotel in London so I can be a little critical sometines. Nonetheless, the team was excellent, as was the food. Very well done, all. We will defintely be back!

Excellent location on the harbour. Great bar next door and nearby restaurants. A great base to explore locally and the Suffolk coast. All staff were friendly, dinner and breakfast were of high quality. Would stay again
