Shabby small room with mouldy shower. Staff not suitably trained - inability to answer if vegetarian breakfast available resulted in me paying £7.50 for a small cup of poor quality coffee and a slice of toast - the tinned tomatoes were only other option available. No staff around to assist Loud drunken argument outside my room door during the early hours resulted in me leaving after 2 nights when I paid for 3 Would not recommend at all

Stayed with family and friends here. Nearly 400 pounds for four nights not including breakfast and the room was awful!! Just dirty and dusty and not well kept at all. The male bearded member of staff in reception (possibly assistant manager) was the most obnoxious man I have come across. He was rude at all times, any question I had he huffed and puffed and blatantly mumbled under his breath before walking into the back of reception and sounding off. I overheard him mocking a elderly lady and giggling at her in the entertainment room, completely BAD customer service and shoddy attitude. Only saving grace was Jackie a receptionist. She was kind, helpful and went above and beyond with a fantastic witty attitude at all times. The food was completely basic at the evening meal in the dinner hall and tables were laid with filthy cutlery but the waiting staff were very polite and considerate with plenty of smiles. Bar the lovely Jackie I was very disappointed with everything.

£300 for 2 nights, budget price,so we didn't mind our room being at the back....opened the drawer in dressing table...it was full of crumbs and hair, the wire rack in bathroom for toiletries was full of old toothpast and dirt....I politely asked reception could these be cleaned, she said she would get this sorted....later I noticed a hair grip sitting in dirt at back if loo.....my pillow was absolutely filthy and the sponge falling out...the wardrobe was filthy full of dust and dirt....the balcony was the dirtiest I have ever seen in my life.. The ladies loo in reception had just been cleaned in the morning and hand on heart they were pure filth....my husband didn't want me to make a fuss as we had chosen this weekend because we had had a huge upset and needed a break...this hotel is mainly use by the elderly ....SHAME ON YOU..... The restaurant was like school dinners and the chairs were stained and covered in old bits of food,I was worried we would catch something... I must say I have written around 120 trip advisor reports and most of these are good with maybe just a small gripe ....?NATIONAL HOLIDAYS PLEASE TAKE A GOID LOOK AT THIS HOTEL BEFORE SOMEONE ENDS UP VERY ILL. I'm sure if health and safety checked this hotel......they would close it down...

We were here on a Sunrise coach holiday.Check in was quick, our standard twin sea view room was on the third floor. The first thing was to open the balcony door and admire the fantastic view of the bay. The room was small the bathroom tiny, it was OK for four nights. The food was good with a varied choice especially the steak and kidney pie and roast beef both were lovely and tender. I did ask why no cheese and biscuits on offer, only those who upgrade to the premier restaurant get these now. The entertainment in the ballroom was good, the first night especially. The singer Ben has a fantastic voice, we found out later in the week he had worked for cruise ships but now wanted to settle down in one place. We would come again

Just returned from a two night stay at the Grand, having read some of the reviews after we booked and before staying I was a bit unsure I had made the right choice. Here is my experience. The receptionist was polite and helpful and booking in was easy, we arrived at our room and opened the door with trepidation, a recently decorated, clean and tidy room was what we saw, the bedding and towels were all clean, the kettle and lamps all looked new as did the flat screen TV, the bathroom was a little dated but it was very clean, we had a sea view which was great. Our experience in the dining room was equally as enjoyable, the food was well cooked with a good choice and plenty of it, the staff were helpful and polite. The bar was a good place to relax and enjoy a reasonably priced drink, and for smokers the balcony outside was a good area, the nightly ballroom entertainment was good too. We had a brilliant two nights in a great hotel and recommend it to anyone wanting a reasonably priced stay in a very popular resort ( hence the parking problems ), it's an old building and like all old buildings has it's quirks, but doesn't have to spoil your stay. We will be returning soon.
