A lovely atmospheric hotel that offered a range of locations to eat a delightful afternoon tea. Very professional, attentive staff and a delightful array of treats to enjoy. A stroll around the gardens added to the experience.

I stayed with a group of colleagues: we used the hotel as the centre for a project on which we were all working. I stayed for two nights. We ate dinner together every night, had a very good breakfast and a good light lunch. The dinner was good, with quality ingredients served with skill and some flair. I would have... More

The hotel and gardens are amazing . Well worth the visit. Restaurant ok for breakfast. Go elsewhere for lunch and dinner. Service was spotty. There was a queue to check out and we had to carry our bags as they seemed to be understaffed. The grounds are so lovely I would still highly recommend.

Recently had afternoon tea at Bodysgallen Hall to celebrate my husband's birthday. We went with a couple of friends. We were shown upstairs to the drawing room and had a lovely window seat which overlooked the wonderful gardens. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive and nothing was too much trouble. We were offered a choice of tea and... More

I have had this hotel on my wanted list for years, as an Anniversary treat it was perfect. Expensive but worth every penny( especially as the profit goes to National Trust !) We had 2 nights in room 2 on the first landing. A lovely spacious room. Suitable as a twin or enormous double. Don't expect a modern decor,it is... More

For my mums 85th birthday, my sister and niece had read the reviews and booked afternoon tea for the four of us . They travelled up from Portsmouth for this special occasion. We had four varieties of sandwiches, cut into strips so we had one each, inedible meringue nests, a triangle of bara brith , a ginger cupcake with a... More

We are really sorry that these guests did not enjoy full Welsh afternoon tea with its generous portions in the Library, a room often requested by guests for its privacy and welcoming atmosphere. I was made aware of a complaint made by this party, but it does not completely correspond with what has been written here. The complaint on the... More

We have just returned from a fantastic 2 night stay in one of the cottages on the estate. the attention to detail is brilliant. From all the exceptionally attentive staff to the amazing food in the restaurant. I had a surprise facial and massage in the spa with Mia which was one of the best I have had. The whole... More

The cottage is not cheap but you get 1st class accomodation, 1st class service, 1st class food and a 1st class spa and swimming pool. We will be going back and thank you to all the attentive staff and a... More

I took a friend in just after 3.00pm on Wednesday afternoon for scones & tea. I had an appointment elsewhere, so we had less than a couple of hours to spare, and it is such a beautiful place to spend time. On arrival at the hotel, I asked in Reception if we could scones and tea please. I was asked... More

We are sorry that this reviewer was disappointed. However the hotel has to give priority to pre-booked afternoon teas, on the afternoon in question for a large party following a funeral, a booking which had to proceed correctly at 3:30p.m. Unless the hotel is very quiet, Bodysgallen does serve full afternoon tea except to residential guests who require less. This... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Standing in over 200 acres of its own parkland to the south of Llandudno with spectacular views of Snowdonia and Conwy Castle. Believed to have 13th century origins, Bodysgallen Hall provides all that is best in country house hospitality. Beautiful gardens include a rare 17th century parterre of box hedges filled with sweet-scented herbs, a rockery with a cascade, a walled rose garden, and several follies. Historic House Hotels Ltd bought and rescued the house from a dilapidated state in 1981 and restored the 17th century house and gardens. In September 2008 Historic House Hotels Ltd and its interest in all its properties were given to the National Trust to ensure their long-term protection, with all profits benefiting the houses and the charity. The 15 extremely comfortable bedrooms in the Main Hall offer several different room types, including the four elegant principal suites. Each bedroom is individually decorated and furnished with antique furniture, paintings and prints, enjoying glorious views of Bodysgallen's parkland or gardens, with some rooms having further reaching views of Conwy Castle or the distant Mountains of Snowdonia. There are 16 cottage suites with picturesque names like The Smithy, Box Cottage and Pineapple Lodge, are situated in the grounds, and provide accommodation for guests preferring a greater degree of privacy. Many cottages enjoy their own private gardens and some are in close proximity to the Bodysgallen Spa. All are charming and delightful. The Dining Room in the main hall has been awarded three rosettes for fine dining by the AA - the only restaurant in Llandudno to be awarded such - and offers imaginative meals prepared from fresh local produce and complemented by fine wine, and overlooks the gardens and has been recognised as one of the best places for Sunday Lunch in the United Kingdom by The Observer newspaper. The Spa is approached by a short walk through the garden or by a private road. Converted from an original stone built farm it contains a magnificent 50' swimming pool edged with comfortable reclining chairs, whirlpool spa bath, steam room and sauna. A superb gymnasium has all the latest technologically advanced equipment, suitable for all ranges of fitness. A comfortable Club Room is a place where guests and members can relax and enjoy drinks and light meals, which in the summer are also served on the terrace. Residential guests have full use of the Bodysgallen Spa.Bodysgallen Hall is situated about 2 miles south from Llandudno and the North Wales coast. It is surrounded by over 200 acres of beautiful gardens and wooded parkland. Bodysgallen Hall has magnificent views of Snowdonia, and Conwy Castle. It's the perfect setting for a relaxed holiday at all times of the year. The hotel is ideally placed for visiting the many historic castles and stately homes in North Wales as well as the famous golf courses that adorn the coastline. ... more   less
