#2 of 40 in Eastbourne
Travelers' Choice
We are a family run hotel with an excellent location on the seafront of Eastbourne looking across the bay towards the Pier. We are only a short walk to the pier, town and amenities. There is a bus stop directly opposite the hotel with services running along the coast and into town. We have a thriving Lunch Club with top class speakers; regular Sunday Lunches with Jazz, Cabaret Dinners, and a Gourmet Club. We are the perfect hotel for any occasion whether it be just a lunch or staying with us in one of our excellent bedrooms.

The staff were so friendly and helpful & couldn’t do enough for us. The restaurant was superb - the quality of the food was amazing and was very reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning. The room was very clean and had tea & coffee facilities

I found all thr staff very helpful, from the Reception team to the waiting staff. I ordered a cocktail and it was brought to me personally, then when my meal was ready the under Manager of the Dining Room came to fetch me. The Breakfast was excellent, a very good choice on the menu, and Dinner was superb. I would definetly reccomend this Hotel, and hopefully will book again next year when I visit Estbourne for the tennis Thank you to all the staff

Stayed here for one night to watch the annual Eastbourne tennis - it's about 20 minutes walk along the sea front, which was beautiful. Lovely feature wallpaper decor and it is clearly a lovingly looked after vintage hotel. The fishfinger sandwich in the bar was amazing and the breakfast was plentiful and a huge selection to choose from. We had 2 rooms: a side sea view twin room and an inland double. If I had 1 tiny complaint it would be that the prices of the rooms were similar, even though there was a vast difference in the quality of the rooms. The sea view twin was gorgeous: roomy, light and airy and the double was a much smaller room, smaller bathroom and nowhere near the same standard. We'd upgraded from a single because the photo looks tiny of that one, and the double wasn't too big for one person. And there was only about £10 difference in price even though there was only breakfast for 1 person. I asked for a discount but was told that breakfast is free so they couldn't. Doesn't really make sense. Having say that, I would highly recommend this room - just book the sea view rooms!

We've had a fabulous stay at this hotel . The room we had was big, really clean, with a large and comfy bed. The sea views offered are amazing. The little touches in the room make the difference ( nice card and a few chocolates were a nice surprise). The atmosphere is relaxed, you can find here peace and quiet. Will definitely come again!

STAY CLEAR…. Arrived at 10am - terrible smell of fried fish. Came back at 6pm terrible smell of fried fish. Went out for dinner … yep came back just after 9 and still terrible smell of fish. Asked for an Irish Coffee…. Nope… coffee machine was being cleaned. And this hotel is one of the better ones. Suggest a B&B with a good review.

Response from Simon Brown, General Manager at Langham Hotel

Thanks for your review IancE8936VQ, Yes I remember when you arrived there was a fish smell from the kippers served at Breakfast that day. Nobody else commented on a fish smell at all and I am sorry it seems to have affected your stay so so much. We make a wonderful Irish coffee and I am so sorry the machine was being cleaned at the exact time you wanted one. The staff chose to do this at 10:30 because it was a quiet patch. We were apologetic and did try to offer you an alternative but you were not interested and started to mention fish again before going to bed. I think you probably should stick to B&Bs. Good advice. All good wishes Simon Brown General Manager

Nice suprise on arrival as my room had been upgraded. Lovely room, well equipped, spotlessly clean with a great sea view. Comfortable bed and had the best nights sleep in a long time. Good choice of food at breakfast and all waiter service. Very well cooked and presented. Would highly recommend staying here for all the reasons as mentioned above together with the fact that all the staff were so friendly and welcoming.

I just stayed at this hotel at the weekend as I was competing in the Eastbourne Triathlon. The hotel was lovely and well located at the end of the Prom so better for parking and ease of getting into and out of Eastbourne (via the bypass.) The room was pleasant and clean, as were all the communal areas. What made this hotel was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. They were all friendly, helpful and kind and actually tried to help you and make you have a better experience. Reception staff immediately offered for me to keep my bike in the room if I wanted to and gave us lots of tips (and a permit!) for parking. Another man offered to take our bags to the room, and later on when I said thank you but I couldn’t currently tip him (as he’d come back down and all the bags containing cash were now in the room!!) he said “no that’s fine don’t worry about it, a thank you is enough.” And finally Ovi, who made me a special early (pre-race) breakfast at 5.45am on a little tray overlooking the sea so I could prepare and have something eat. I rarely leave reviews but this hotel was so special I wanted to say thank you to the staff and take the time to let others know how good it is.

Had a lovely view overlooking the sea on the top floor - totally spotless (a rarity these days) and bathroom seemed new. Hairdryer, toiletries and enough towels. Kettle and biscuits. No fresh milk but nice (glass)-bottled water. I had low expectations as the photos looked a bit tired but I was wrong! The communal areas were very retro décor and reminded me of many holidays in the 90s but it was all very clean and the room itself had clearly been refurbished recently and was lovely. I wasn't a fan of breakfast bit all the staff were very friendly (also rare these days) and he service was faultless! I have already recommended this hotel to others and would happily return. I have stayed in several much more expensive hotels over the last couple of years since the hospitality recruitment crisis etc (see other reviews) and none have had as nice a room or as efficient a staff

Had a fantastic 5 day break last week. Lovely single room with sea view. Everything in room very good quality. The food was some of the best I've had. Sunday roast was terrific also. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. They were all so friendly, helpful and extremely professional. That's from the really helpful bedroom staff right up to management. I wouldn't think twice about returning and highly recommend it. Looking forward to a return visit in the autumn.
