A magnificent if slightly tired hotel. All staff, without exception are efficient, friendly and knowledgeable, However, we would recommend you view your room before accepting it to ensure it is one of those that has been refurbished. we had a beautifully proportioned room, which was super clean, but the decor and furnishings were sadly out of date and a little shabby. The balcony should have been wonderful, but it was unkempt with weeds, dead plants and generally abandoned looking. This is a beautiful hotel with excellent employees but needs quite a bit of TLC. We would, (and are), staying again and would recommend, if the above precautions are observed.
An impressive exterior (they don't call it the white palace for nothing) leads to some stunning classic interiors. Our room was large and well appointed, heavenly bedding and towels. Drinks in the bars or restaurants were consistently excellent. The Garden Restaurant for dinner and breakfast was well staffed and very good food and presentation. Mirabelle Restaurant for a taster menu with wine pairings (and fireworks outside) was a magical evening. Pool, spa and gym are all wonderful and spotlessly clean. Shout out to Steph for a relaxing massage and nice chat. This is an impressive hotel and not budget friendly but worth it. But the best thing is actually the staff. Everyone is super friendly, sincere and takes time to chat. Rita on reception is an example of the wonderful friendly service. Grazie bella! Really wonderful 4 days mini break for me and my new fiancé…
We stayed at the Grand Hotel for two nights on an Autumn deal with Bed & Breakfast and discount on an evening meal. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay, the room was adequate, perhaps a little tired and the bathroom a little on the small side but we did not spend much time in there as we went out. I would highly recommend this hotel and the main reason for this is the exceptional staff that work there, from the concierge who assisted with charging out electric car, to the bar and restaurant staff in the morning and evening, everyone was warm, welcoming and friendly, it makes such a difference to your stay when you are treated so well - well done to all who work there !
Went for lunch with son and daughter in law after rememberence parade . Lovely food . Bruchetta then Spagettie bolionise. The meal was great For all.of us . And the lovely Italian waitress was a charming lady. Who thanked me for my service in the Marines . Well l worth a visit . We have eaten there several times and it's always been good Ken Bruce
We were given a cream tea voucher for our 50th Wedding Anniversary in May 2021. We managed to use it this week. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely young man . Whose name has slipped my mind. He was very attentive . Our afternoon tea was very tasty.and it was a very relaxed setting. The young man who served us was very knowledgeable. He is training for Management. I'm sure he will do very well. Thankyou for a lovely experience
Myself and four friends spent today at the Grand to celebrate a special birthday. The staff in all areas were exceptionally helpful and attentive and we had such a lovely day. Please give our thanks to all the staff.
We loved our stay in The Grand Hotel over the weekend. I could not praise the staff more. They were all so kind, approachable and keen to help in anyway possible. Cole and James in concierge went above and beyond in ensuring an enjoyable stay. The Hotel and rooms are beautiful, very clean and well maintained. For a spa weekend the spa is a bit of a let down but the hotel definitely makes up for it. I will absolutely stay again. Thank you.
Good sized bedroom, access to the spa/gym as well as relaxed and formal restaurants on site. I'm not sure I would pay extra for the side sea view again though - I'd probably splurge for the full sea view next time or get the inland. Gym is really well equipped with range of dumbbells, cables, lats machine, chest machine, leg press, treadmills and more. The indoor and outdoor pool are well heated. We were able to enjoy an outdoor swim in October with water at 28°. Bar and lounge are cozy enough. Cocktails are £17-20 and delicious. They had live slow music from 9.30pm til midnight with dancefloor. We enjoyed dinner in the lounge. Breakfast had a buffet (cereals, breads, smoked salmon etc) and a choice of cooked breakfast (e.g: omelettes, crushed avocado on toast, full English). One of the best breakfasts we had at a hotel - lots of choice. We would recommend and come again if in the area. …
Having stayed at a number of "grand" victorian seaside hotels I was expecting faded Victoriana: peeling flock wallpaper, rattly pipes, spluttering taps, creaking floors and often creaking staff. Well, it couldn't be more opposite. Parking in front of this quite impressive building the sense of "Grand" is more than name only. Check in was seamless, handled by lovely, smiley warm and professional reception staff. The corridors wide and airy, the bedroom beautifully appointed with not a rattling pipe anywhere. No air conditioning but great big windows that opened all the way. Public rooms are sparkling, comfortable and large. Above all, the staff. Professional, prompt service is the norm but it is also friendly and helpful. From the cheerful bar service, the exquisite afternoon tea, the garden restaurant (we did not eat in the Mirabelle), every member of staff impressed, and there were a lot of them, never hard to find an attentive, pleasant, helpful member of staff anywhere. It is almost churlish to pick out just one part for comment but the restaurant staff were simply brilliant. Will I stay again? We came home today and I have already booked our next stay!!…
We stayed for a night and when we arrive we were greated well by the friendly door men and reception team. We stayed in the ground floor at the back of the hotel and the view is not great and we were also disappointed we could not book in the restaurant for the evening as it was fully booked. The rooms are very worn and dated, the breakfast was lovely and the dining area was very welcoming as were the waiting staff but not worth over 200.00 for the night, thanks to the staff you were lovely
