I have stayed here numerous times .. this time I had a pool swim out room which was fantastic. It was a bit quieter this time around but the staff and service was as good as always . Breakfast was lovely.. and the facilities are awesome. I will definitely be returning.

If you have any mobility issues with stairs, this is not the place for you, as I discovered on arrival. No mention on their website, or LE website. A very steep flight of stairs up to reception, with no handrails was impossible to undertake. 3 flights to our room, luckily with a rickety handrail, was a pain in the proverbial having to navigate it every time you came and went. None on the pool steps. We were there on a Luxury escape, booked for 10 nights. This also included lunch and/or dinner and drinks. The pool bar was the only one open from 12-6, then the bar guy worked at the one and only restaurant. The same menu was offered for lunch and dinner. After 2 nights we knew this wasn't going to work so we booked elsewhere (Bandara) and checked out. There was building work going on right next to the pool. It just wasn't up to the normal LE standard, and we have complained to them. It's a totally isolated resort with nothing to do and nothing nearby open. As I said..if you have any issues with stairs or uneven ground DON'T GO THERE!

First of all when you arrive there are steep stairs to get to reception, if you are at all infirm keep away. I needed a room on the ground floor and was told I would have to pay 1000 THB per night extra! There are building works taking place at present on site so sitting by the pool you are interrupted by a hammer drill. I was all inclusive however there is only one restaurant open on site, no fine dining or beach BBQ, the portions in the restaurant are tiny and I was left hungry after every meal. The breakfast is very standard and nothing special as it should be. This is not a 5 star experience that I was expecting. Go elsewhere I will not be returning.

The place is not 5 star. Wrong rating! The place is poorly maintained and in need of total refurbishment. Breakfast is repetitive and unimaginative. The staff are awesome will do anything to help however the whole place needs maintenance. Our rooms kept losing power every 10mins . Not a please stay. Avoid the place, there many resorts in Sumai, give this one a miss.

We booked through BA and honestly for the price we paid, we couldn’t flights only! So ok it’s not your 5 star Dubai style bit we didn’t pay the usual 5 star price - it may be little tired but it really depends what you are looking for in a holiday to Samui. We came for peace and quiet in an unspoilt and not over developed part of the island and we found it here. Our room was clean with fresh linen/towels and comfortable beds. We found the breakfast fine, fresh fruit (the mangos ❤️) toast and egg/waffle station, pastries and hot and cold meat options. I did not come to Thailand to eat an English breakfast ! We ate at the restaurant a couple of times, it was delicious and not expensive. So I struggle to agree with people who have said that the food offering was not good 🙄. We didn’t want to hire mopeds so we used the shuttle to Nathon and taxis to explore - no problem. We stayed a few days in Bophut to experience a different side of the island, it was lively and fun but it was so nice to return to this peaceful place on the edge of the jungle and right on the beach, where we were sometimes the only ones on that beach viewing the amazing sunsets. I’ve travelled a lot and roughed it a bit so Im pragmatic and overly precious about so called luxury and receiving a drink on arrival etc. I went there for the tranquility. The staff are wonderful and I would return. If you want a different food offering there’s a little beach no more than 100 yards away which does amazing food and so cheap. Their papaya salad and mango sticky rice to die for. Further up is The Mud - also good and they do Thai cooking classes which I would try next time. So yes it’s not 5 star how some people might view it - but to see Samui how it might have been 40 years ago, was priceless as far as I’m concerned. If you want super luxury, night life and bars then this is not the place for you and comes at double the price we’d paid to stay here so it’s all relative. If you want to get away from it all and have a nice room to rest your head at the end of the day then this gives you that x

The resort is extremely run-down, poorly maintained, and is nowhere near a 5 star rated establishment. The included breakfast was minimalist indeed, and of a low standard. It would appear from lunches and dinners that perhaps there was no chef in the kitchen, but merely a cook. Between breakfast and midday, the only restaurant was not open. The room itself was poorly cleaned and not well maintained, with doors that couldn’t open, badly leaking plumbing, and old coasters stuck to bathroom surfaces going mouldy. The shower needed to run for 5-6 minutes before any hot water ran through. Our arrival time was late on the first night, and via email a dinner of sandwiches and fruit had been arranged for our arrival, as our package included dinner for 10 nights. When we arrived, there was no food for us, and no staff to prepare anything. We arrived at around 9.30 pm. The buildings and infrastructure of the resort were extremely run-down, and parts of the hotel- including what was a restaurant and bar- were derelict and unused. As the disappointment of the experience was a bit much, we arranged lodging at another resort, and left Mai Samui after 2 nights. Do not recommend this resort.

We had a fabulous time staying at Mai Samui. Was definitely a quieter part of the island compared to the first part of our stay but very relaxing. Staff were lovely and very accomodating. Room was serviced every day. Great food and pool bar staff were so lovely to the kids. Loved the variety at breakfast. Beautiful scenery - great massage in the spa as well as from locals on beach front.

Stayed for 9 nights in a pool access room which was amazing. We had a great stsy, staff were lovely and friendly. Breakfast was really good. Room was gorgeous with big sunken bath. Location was great for us, right on the beach. Maena was a great barman at the pool bar. Rooms were cleaned everyday, bottled water,, Beach bag, Beach towels were left in room which was a great touch. Pool was great and beach area had enough sunbeds and very comfortable to lie on. The hotel could do with sprucing up but this is being done as we witnessed while we were there.

We spent 14 days at Mai Samui Resort with friends on a Luxury Escapes Package. Ms Dao the Manager and her office staff were very helpful and assisted when required. The Mai Pub & Restaurant was very good for meals and drinks. The only problem was a shortage of staff during peak times. The available staff were magnificent and under enormous pressure during theses periods. They need extra staff. Pool bar very popular with a very good barman The house keeping fell short of what is required.Bathrooms not cleaned and if done was very poor.I had to ask for our room to be cleaned late one afternoon.Friends room went for 3 days before staff attended to cleaning. In all it was a very nice 2 weeks. Would we stay there again? Even though isolated we would not hesitate to book accomodation at Mai Samui Resort

We only stayed for one night as a stopover before taking a ferry to Koh Tao. This hotel looks like it was once the most amazing 5* resort. The grounds are vast and rooms spacious. Unfortunately it does require some maintenance work, possibly affected by covid. The staff are very friendly and work hard. We wasn’t at the hotel long enough to use the facilities but the small beach area and large main pool looked ok. The smaller pools needed a clean. The rooms had everything we needed and were clean. Bed firm but that is personal taste. Breakfast buffet was average, food seemed fresh and was covered, egg station good. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough staff to clean the tables etc so this was slightly off putting. The staff who were there were working hard. We did notice on our journey in and out that it was quite remote but can’t comment on local restaurants etc. We would have loved to stay here during its prime for a relaxing break away from it all and hope that it can be restored to its original glory one day as it definitely has the basis to.
