Turning into the shady drive at Maison Borges we were immediately overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. The gardens are attractively set out and the 'maison principal' is set off nicely by the lovely old stone buildings within the grounds. The English / American owners are friendly, interesting people - well travelled with many a tale to tell. Somehow... More

we have just returned from out second holiday in La Tournerie and can honestly say we have been made as welcome as if we had visited old Friends. The gites are so lovingly put together with so much thought put in to every last Detail. Thank you very much Carolyn and Toni, this was most certainly not our last visit.

I came to visit friends and I was thrilled to find a beautiful, peaceful retreat in the midst of a quiet rural area - small fields of grapes, clean air, clear water, great affordable food and wine close by. You can relax by the pool or garden, or make short trips to small and large sea side towns, roman ruins,... More

If you want peace and quite this is the place for you, the only noise you hear is the sound of the birds and the bees on the lavender La Tournerie is a little bit of paradise. We have just booked for our 3rd visit. You can sleep peacefully in the comfortable beds, Nothing is too much trouble for the... More

We have just returned from a week at Maison Borges, I have stayed at many places in France but this has to be the best. The house was beautifully clean, the design was fantastic and nothing seemed to have been installed to a price like you see in many houses that you rent ie lovely comfortable sofa and beds. The boys( 8... We stayed in the Longhouse (probably succeeding the previous reviewer) in August this year with our girls aged 12 and 9. We too booked this place before we read last year's reviews and were concerned by some of the comments, particularly those relating to children, but decided to give it a go. On the whole the complex (which consists of... More

Stayed at the Longhouse for 7 days in August. Two adults and two children aged 3 & 6. Absolutely lovely time and the kids loved it. We were only asked not to use the pool before 10am which is perfectly understandable and is a very good idea IMHO as it starts the day out nice and relaxed. The owners were... More

Only just after we made our booking we saw the review of Geemag - so we were a little bit anxious to go there. Sadly it appeared all true, even though we did not get any complaints about our children ourselves, the lady of the house was not very hospitable during our stay. There was another family who did get... More

Maison borges offers tranquility, the complex is all France has to offer, from individual designed gites to rustic charm interiors, you get to experiance the true French life, we even dined with the owners and their French neighbours,... Maison Borges, Gemozac, Poitou-Charentes Unless your children are always seen and not heard this is not the place to go. I rented The Maison for four weeks and invited my daughter, husband three boys (13,9 and 5) for a fortnight. Whenever they made any noise, especially when they had 'holiday' friends round or were in the pool, the owner complained... More
