We were so fortunate on our holiday to choose Ocean V Hotel in Pereybere, the moment we arrived we were looked after as if we were the only guests. As the island had only just opened it was quiet but the hotel was ready to get back into gear along with its eager Staff after 18 months. Being a new hotel everything was bright and polished. The rooms were large with bright decor. Our room overlooked the bay of shining crystal blue sea and this was even more panoramic from the third floor open air restaurant with a light breeze brushing over you. The infinity pool was our late afternoon visibility tower watching the catamarans/dive boats return from their daily outings.
The rooms are well appointed and the air con worked very well and was not noisy at all. Ample hot water always. The turndown service each evening, hospitality tray, drinks chiller and toiletries provided a caring 5 star touch. The Staff were always cheerful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. Their local knowledge was most useful regarding local bus info with bus stops 50 mtrs away.
On check in our allergies were submitted mine being gluten free my husband cheese and mushroom allergy. We were treated to the most delicious food and if our choice was not suitable then the chefs would tweek the recipe to suit us. We had a local meal one evening prepared for us which gave us the insight into true delicious local food and flavours. The buffet breakfast was casual with choices to suit an international range of guests. The bread was freshly cooked each morning in the hotel and small gluten free buns were prepared for me, the fresh fruit cocktail was in beautiful small dice which I really loved instead of needing a knife and fork to eat it with. Eggs were prepared to order, fresh pastries and jam to finish with the delicious coffee. The hotel being part of a larger group had a wealth of Chefs who delighted in adding their distinctive signature to the menu, so never repetitive. Nothing was too much trouble, the Manager always called at guests tables to enquire about their day and what they hoped to do next.
The beach of Pereybere is 200 mtrs along the road, a tree shaded area with seats and a cafe/beach bar a mobile food restaurant, freshly cooked chips with mayo/tomato sauce plus wraps and rice dishes - many locals eat here. Such a safe beach, all white sand and cleaned constantly by local workers. The small birds are fantastic colours of orange and yellow, well kept gardens and litter free roads make strolling a pleasure.
What I think struck us mostly on this beautiful island was the pride of its people of sharing and caring for such an idylic place - we were delighted to explore and it will stay in our memories until we can return hopefully next year.

Just stayed for 10 days at the Ocean V and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was spotless and the staff were very friendly, polite and liked to look after you. The views from the infinity pool are spectacular. On arrival we were given a welcome drink and a cloth to refresh after travelling, then we were given a guided tour of the hotel. This is a boutique hotel and we stayed all inclusive, every meal is prepared fresh and waiter service so not your usual buffet style all inclusive meals. All the waiters/ess are fantastic so difficult to choose favourites but , Nanadoo , Kaushal were great and couldn't do enough for you .. the rooms were spotless, our housekeeper was Lola who was amazing.
The beach is a short walk of around 200 meters with fantastic golden sand and crystal clear waters. note this is a public beach so it gets fairly busy with families going for the day which is a great sight. There is no direct access to the beach opposite the hotel which is a shame but wasn't really that important .Bus stop is straight outside the hotel and a short trip to grand baie , from there jump on the express bus to Port Louis
if you're looking for a very relaxed holiday Ocean V is probably the hotel for you, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there , thank you Ocean V.
on a very slight negative, there is no shade whatsoever at the pool area
many many thanks Paul and Angela... room 103

Our stay was excellent. As soon as you step in the hotel you get a sense of freshness. The staff are very nice. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink and a cool towel which was so much needed after a long trip. The room is modern with a very nice colour scheme and has sea view with a cosy balcony. The bed is very comfortable and clean.
The rooftop has a restaurant-bar and infinity pool. The rooftop has the best view on the ocean !
The hotel has a cafe called ground cafe that does all bakery and have the best deserts i have ever had - DELICIOUS !
Overall our stay was excellent :) and so happy to have stayed in a brand new hotel

This is a difficult review to write as, we have had quite a nice time, but there are things that need to be said!
The staff, from humble cleaners to management, are a credit to their profession and strive to make your experience the best it can be! Sadly they have an uphill battle with a property still being touted as new when it actually opened in 2019 and looks and feels like nothing has been done to it since!!
Star rating for staff would be five but the hotel itself struggles for a two! Externally the hotel is alongside a very busy road which immediately renders the sea view balcony useless as, who wants to sit and inhale carbon monoxide and listen to lorries and buses grind through their gearboxes! This is also a problem for the rooms themselves as, the windows used for construction offer no soundproofing meaning loud noises from 6.30a.m!
A direct link with the road issue is the beach. This is not the pretty beach you see from the hotel but the public beach a good walk along the road and, of more concern, across the road!! I found the journey not to be worthwhile if not a little hair raising!!
On to the rooms themselves:- we began life in 217 a little small with a bathroom door that was difficult to shut but acceptable. In the middle of night three a pervasive odour began to emanate from said bathroom which was reported immediately the next morning. The response was immediate but ultimately unsuccessful, some form of liquid was used to mask the smell which of course returned the same evening. The next day we were moved to 202, an upgrade! This was a slightly bigger room in which we stayed for the duration of our holiday but, from time to time the smell was here also!!
It seems to us that the staff are being let down by the owners who need to spend some serious money on upgrading plumbing systems and decor along with things like shutters that don’t work properly etc!!
A mention for the food which we generally found to be good and much effort was taken to accommodate my partner’s dietary requirements!! Also a mention for the spa treatments, excellent value for money!!
All in all we would not return to this hotel but if I were in the hospitality industry I would employ any single member of staff who works here.

I was excited to be staying in the north of the island. The views on the rooftop bar was stunning and the service is amazing, breakfast food was lovely at this hotel however the hotel itself is not great.
The first room we were given had a very loud fan and it smelt of the burning. The bathroom was dirty - blood stains everywhere with more stains on the bed covers and dressing gowns. It was a really upsetting experience and I almost booked into a different hotel but the manager apologised and upgraded us to a suite. The suite was much cleaner but the fixtures and finishings are a lot to be desired! The bathtub was unstable and the towel rack was about to fall off! The AC makes a lot of noise and the WiFi connection is hit and miss.
The location is great and the nearby beaches are beautiful!
I wouldn’t stay here again for the price they charged I’m sure the Hilton down the road would be much better but the service the staff provided was amazing and one of the best I’ve had. It really brings up the hotel and makes a massive difference to your stay.

We stayed for 6 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The staff are all friendly and give big smiles. Our hotel room had everything we needed and was comfortable. We noticed a bit of a smell in our bathroom on the first day but this was quickly sorted when we informed staff - we were told to keep the bathroom fan running 24/7 and we never had a problem after that.
Breakfast had lots of choice and we liked that they freshly cooked eggs however you liked them. We chose the bed and breakfast option rather than all inclusive but we did eat some other meals in the restaurant and enjoyed them all. The portions are good, you don’t leave hungry!
Most days we had the pool to ourselves until mid afternoon and the view up there is great.
We enjoyed a couples massage and facial at the hotel spa which was very relaxing and a great price too.
As we were flying out at 11pm and not leaving until 7.30, the manager very kindly allowed us to stay in our room which really made a difference to our last day knowing that we had a place to shower and change etc.
There was a bit of road noise but that’s to be expected as the hotel is on the main road. We soon got used to it.
Ocean V is close to the beach and a supermarket as well as restaurants, bars, dive shops and tour operators. The bus goes from outside the hotel in both directions and is a cheap easy way to explore towns nearby.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I’m an avid traveller.
Room stank of sewage, if you fancy the smell of strong dog faeces hitting your nostrils you’ll love the place. We had to move room twice in the middle of the night due to the rank smell.
If you like playing games, you’ll love playing with the balcony doors that do not lock, you shut one side and the other side opens.
“Chilled refreshments in the mini fridge ”…. Fridge was broken…..
Lift buttons don’t work, if you want to go down, hit the up button.
Pool has no shelter from the wind so it is hurricane katrina 24/7. Take a harness so you can strap yourself in. Also, If you want to sound like you’re sitting in a factory, head to the pool between 10-12 whilst the pool pump is on.
Never had such a bad breakfast, sweaty pancakes, snotty boiled eggs and ants everywhere on the buffet tables.
No need to go to the spa, as the reception is a free sauna.
Also, ask your taxi driver to toot his horn when you rock up. The gate guard is always sleeping or busy playing games on his phone.
But don’t worry, If you have any problems with the hotel, they won’t give you any compensation other than a free drink at the bar. Don’t be fooled by the hotels discounts on offer for the rooms, it’s really not worth it.
The only two positives is that the staff are lovely and work their buttocks off but the managers will fool you around.
Manzu had a great Peking Duck and the two chefs (brothers) were unbelievable and lovely.

Wonderful location, exquisite food, beautiful cocktails and the most attentive staff of any hotel I have ever stayed in. Pereybere beach was a 3 minute walk up from the hotel and was among the cleanest of public beaches I have seen and I have been to most islands in the Indian Ocean.
You must take a bus trip while on the island too. Everyone we met over the course of the 10 days were polite and helpful.
The menus were amazing! I could have had a different dish every night and still not tried them all. The food I did have was easily Michelin start quality, especially the seafood platter or lobster and tiger prawns

They make you feel at home and nothing is to much trouble. I am a coeliac and they baked me gluten free rolls 3 times a day without asking. The beach is a short stroll away. Don't forget to take a bread roll to the beach as the fish will eat it out of your hand.
The room and bed where very comfortable and spotless. They arranged trips and taxi trips for us at very reasonable cost. The bus stop is outside the front gate so take a ride into town for 50p each.
The sunsets from the bar and restaurant are out of this world.
We took a massage which was very good indeed and really got into that aching back.
The main asset to the hotel is the staff. They made the trip memorable for all the right reasons.
I will definitely be coming back.
Merci Ocean V.

The restaurant is not too formal and when I was there the dress included all sorts from casual to evening dresses. Most wore smart casual. The plugs were three pin and the staff were all so lovely. There was a lot of live entertainment in the evenings and the food was really good too. I asked for vegetarian options and they were always very tasty. The breakfasts were really good too with plenty of choices and self service. It was my best holiday ever.
