My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights between our hikes to Puplit Rock and Kjeragbolten. The hotel and the beds were very comfortable, which was important to us coming back from and going to the hikes. The rooms and showers were big and modern, and I was very happy with that. The goats in the back were a... More

The Byrkjedalstunet is a popular place to stop for dinner or a coffee when heading to the hills and valleys outside of Stavanger. Here you find a piece of old Norwegian culture mixed with stunning nature and some great geological sights from the last ice age. The hotel offer the basic needs with a helpful staff and great Norwegian food.... More

We were positively surprised with how modern and comfortable our room was: spacious warm bathroom, puffy comforters and pillows. The interior has traditional twist: wood, some paintings. It's not a shabby smelly place as we expected originally! And it was super clean! Breakfast is mediocre comparing to other hotels in Norway, but it works. Food is served along the whole... More

I've not stayed in the hotel itselv, but I've eaten in their restaurant numerous times and the food has always been good. The selection is not so extensive, but there is always at least one fish dish and several meat dishes. Their bread is also excellent. Vegetarians and in particular vegans won't find much to eat here. In addition to... More

Remote, rural, charming - these are all adjectives that apply. It was a really pleasant surprise to find that there was a working farm, a farm shop, a lovely restaurant, some log cabins and a replica summer house. The unusual convention centre, the Gloppehalle, was bored into the mountain and there was a candle maker's cabin too. The home made... More

This place is many things rolled into one. It has a working farm with animals and a farm shop, a lovely restaurant, an unusual convention centre and some log cabins which they rent out for accommodation. The setting is beautiful - in the middle of three rocky mountains, and is made more charming by the farm setting (complete with a... More

if you need to get away from it all, then this is the place. The rooms are extremely clean and the wifi excellent. Breakfast was by candlelight with a great selection of choices. There are many places to hike and it is a short drive to the Manafossen waterfall. I stayed here because it is about one hours drive to the... More

This place is simply amazing. From the beauty of the moss covered cottages to the waterfall cascading through the property, this place made gave me an instant feeling of happiness. It is truly magical. We came for a short stay as part of our trip to Norway. We were there two nights and I easily could of stayed longer. It... More

Byrkjedalstunet was a great place to stay on our way to Stavanger from Telemark and Setesdal. The hotel's location surrounded by mountains complements grass-roof buildings on the property, as well as goats, and its traditional restaurant. The breakfast included with the room offered a great selection. The modern style room with two twin beds that we stayed in was very... More
