Just a lovely guesthouse. Fabulous hosts, quaint, relaxed and welcoming. In a great part of the city and a beautiful and uniquely Bergen building. We were staying with our 2.5 year old daughter and it worked for us, but would equally have loved it to stay as a couple. And Bergen is just lovely.

I stayed at Skuteviken Guesthouse with my two friends for three nights and it was the most special stay during my weeklong Scandinavian trip. Solveig and her husband are absolutely wonderful people, and made our stay extremely comfortable. Our flight into Bergen was delayed, and Solveig and her husband were extremely helpful giving us advice on other ways to get to Bergen from where we were. They were very attentive and helpful as we tried to navigate with the airline and other options (trains, car, etc). Once we arrived, we were welcomed to the coziest apartment in the perfect location in the heart of town. Within 3 minutes, we were on a street with lots of restaurants and shops, but our apartment was in a quiet side street that was very peaceful and a nice place to come home to after a long day of touring. I would absolutely recommend Skuteviken Guesthouse to anyone visiting Bergen!!!! I am already planning another trip back!

Skutiviken Gueshouse is the perfect place for one person or a couple. It is in a charming old area easy to walk to city centre but also close to where a few bus lines stop. It is close to the waterfront where I took many photos. The room was perfect for me for five nights... it had everything I needed. HIghly recommended for people who like to get away from the tourists and enjoy living in a historic neighbourhood.

We chose to stay in an apartment in Bergen so that we did not have to eat out every night. Skuteviken was perfect for us; it was warm and cosy, had a well equipped kitchen and a fantastic shower! We stayed in Skuteviken following a Norway in a Nutshell tour and Eivind picked us up from the train station - both Eivind and Solveig were welcoming hosts. The hotel is a short walk through the park from the historic Bergen harbour with a supermarket 5 minutes away. It is also the perfect place to explore the historic streets amongst the locals away from the crowds. Top tip: if it is sunny, watch the sunset from the fort next to the guesthouse.

I stayed in the ozy single room downstairs with a kitchenette and bathroom. The kitchenette has a small fridge, kettle and some basic cutleries so it's very helpful for budget travellers. Solveig, the hostess, is very friendly and helpful. I missed my connecting train to Bergen so I arrived one day later than expected. I felt bad for her since she wouldn't be able to rent out the room to other guests due to the short notice and I thought "there goes 1-night stay's fees". To my surprise, Solveig waived my first night's fee. My room was ready when I arrived first thing in the morning, which was very nice for someone who had not slept for more than 24 hours with stiff limbs, thanks to uncomfortable train seats. Solveig definitely turned my unpleasant experience with the train delay, missing connection and sleepless night into a pleasant experience with her kindness.
