I can't recommend the Hotel Park highly enough. Anne-Margaret and her staff are wonderful. The hotel is unique, clean, has a great breakfast and they baked fresh brownies ALL DAY. The location is also excellent. Easy walk down to "city center" and the train from the airport (5ish minutes), there is a beautiful park one block away, and the university is right next door which has beautiful buildings and parks to explore. Breakfast is also included in the price and it was a nice spread.

This is THE hotel in Bergen! Why? The location is perfect. In the city of Norway between the seven mountains this is the hotel which actually has a view of many of the mountains from many of the rooms. The hotel is in the centre of Bergen, but still such an airy, quiet area. You come in to the reception which is inspired by Kit Kemp (read the Firmdale hotels) and old Norwegian antiques. This is perfect for a building from the 1890`s. Looking into Europe, these antiques can be compared with French Provencal farmers antiques - they are just so lovely and are so good to combine with a modern tasty interior:) Actually the whole hotel has many of these antiques around even though the hotel is modern. The rooms are bright and the beds and bathrooms really good! You have a sense of being in a private home - still so private for each of the guests! And; it is so clean everywhere! Breakfasts is in a small room with homemade jam and all you would think of with fruit, granola, juices, etc. Why is the location perfect? It is a 5 minutes easy stroll down to the more busy part of Bergen with Torgalmenningen, Fisketorget etc. I really look forward to my next trip to this hotel!

I can only recommend this place to stay in Bergen, especially if you like historic places/nostalgia from past times. The hotel is in two opposite-lying former residential buildings/small villas from the 1890s/early 1900s. The room was clean, charming, had everything we needed. The breakfast buffet was delicious and lovingly presented with different marinated herring (if you like that for breakfast), homemade jams, a wide variety of teas, etc. The hotel even had a washing machine and tumbler that we were able to use for a small cost, which we were very grateful to use. Top score for us here! Given that Norway is so expensive, we also found the cost vs value of the room per night okay.

We were a group of seven adults staying for two nights. We loved it. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Bergen. This is a good thing as Bergen can be a bit rowdy at times. Lots of students, tourists and visiting revellers (along with some dubious & less savoury characters in some squares and taverns!). The breakfast here was delightful and plentiful. Home made jams, breads, cereals, home made granola, herrings (of course!) and meats and cheeses. The rooms were perfectly adequate (although the beds are a touch on the soft side for my liking but each person is different). Afternoon tea and coffee plus some amazing chocolate brownies are always on offer free of charge - which is a delightful treat after a long day exploring Bergen and its vicinity. Charlotte (on reception) was always SO helpful with all our requests for information, even with the recipe for the brownies and crispbreads! (Thank you and we all hope the baby is fit and healthy and brings you both great joy when it arrives). Whist in Bergen make sure you visit the home of Edvard Grieg at Trollhaugen - just beautiful and so thought provoking and peaceful. Pick up the tickets from the Tourist office near the Fish market. A lovely few days in a delightful 'home' / hotel with warming touches to bring sunshine to any dreary wet day in Bergen!

Everything about this hotel was absolutely perfect. The staff were incredibly helpful and thoughtful and attuned to travelers' needs, everything was appointed immaculately, the food was exceptional, and the area and environs breathtaking. There is also an abundance of tea, water, coffee (and brownies!) available 24/7! The proprietor even allowed us to make sandwiches for lunch when we left for a hiking trip! Would absolutely go back and recommend to everyone. It was kind of challenging to carry my luggage up three flights with no elevator, but that's okay -- it's a funky, charming place to stay and we loved it.
