I had to make a last minute booking and found a nice and clean room at this hotel. Comfortable bed and a bathroom with a tub. This was i the middle of the week, not many hotel guests, so no stress keeping distance and no lines waiting to have breakfast. Great location.
"look, this is the view we got" said the not so polite receptionist when we asked about the sea view we had paid extra for. The attitude surprised as much as the brick-building view. If cleaning was not effective, it obviously was quick.
Firstly I will say that the location of this hotel is great :) we arrived by train and the taxi drive was a short and cheap. When we went out to explore, we found everything we wanted within a short walk. Now for the not so great points.... Checkin staff didn't give us any information about the hotel other than we needed to use our room key for the lift and we were on the 5th floor! He asked if we had stayed before but neglected to tell us about breakfast or any other hotel facilities! We were served very poor food in the hotel restaurant - the entrecote was less than an inch thick and mostly fat!! When I asked the server about it, she told me that's how they serve it there and made me feel like I was wrong for asking and no apology! The service in the bar was very slow and not friendly at all! We waited so long for table service, because the server was chatting with some other guests, that the bar had closed and we were told we couldn't order anything else! We asked for some extra tea and coffee as they hadn't cleaned our room, it took over an hour to bring it to our room and then it wasn't what we had asked for! There was no AC as advertised - a wall heater for heat and a window to open for cool!!!!! I work in the hospitality industry and I hate complaining but I was very unimpressed with this stay! We have used Radisson many many times all over the world but this one just didn't seem to be the same standard for some reason :( …
When arriving at the hotel at around 15:00, the room was not ready. Had to wait in the lobby for 20 minutes before we got the keykards. They added some free breakfasts for us, as a compensation. That helped a bit though. Then they had a Corona-adapted breakfast, which consisted in a VERY long line. Then in the end, we could choose between: A simpler breakfast or a more complete one The complete one had another long line, and with kids that was not going to happen. The problem with the simple breakfast, was that it was only one person serving EVERYBODY!!!! They had to run to the back room constantly to fill up on cheese, ham, etc... She was super stressed behind the counter. Felt sorry for her! I was just expecting much better for a "royal" hotel in that price range :(
Got a good deal for this hotel in short notice. The hotel is in the middle of Bergen city center. Walking distance to the cable car to Fløye mountain. Lots to see and do in the near area of the hotel. You can count on Radisson quality when you book this hotel. Perfect comfy beds, enough pillows, nicely decorated good sized room. Clean and practical. You now you get an excellent buffet breakfast in these hotels. It was the first day after COVID-19 they opened the buffet again. Lucky us! Everything was hygienic and the practical things around breakfast taken care of. Only minus was the view (there wasn’t one) but just outside the hotel there are so lovely city-views that it didn’t bother that much.
