Cons: There's nowhere to unpack or store clothes expect for a few hooks on the wall. It's ok for a one night stay but if you're staying longer than that it could get uncomfortable.

The lack of cleanliness in the common areas is noticeable.
The breakfast is correct and the hall is very spacious and lends itself to spending some time.
Although there are many people at breakfast, the spaces allow everyone to go freely.
Personally, I see the issue of cleaning as an important issue.

The glass door in the shower didn't close, so kept swinging inwards to the showering area. I wedged a towel against the bottom of it to keep it shut.
For those who have never used a 'barception' before, like me, and don't know it's there, there needs to be a big sign on the way in and in the hotel information documents and ads. Otherwise people may walk in, as I did, see a bar and assume I'm in the wrong entrance, and exit only to have to come back in. The sign is around the side. The staff didn't say anything to be on entering, though I had a check in bag on wheels so looked like a hotel guest! Although it's a nice idea, which no doubt cuts down on staff and costs, when I arrive to check in, tired from a flight and airports and buses/taxis, I expect to be seen immediately (or wait in the line for those checking in before me). I don't expect to have to wait while the one staff member doing both bar and reception, serves six people waiting for drinks, while I have to wait. I get the idea of a boutique hotel and that if you have fewer staff, the cost will be cheaper to the customer. But there's a reason hotels have had a separate reception and bat for ever - because it works. Throwing away tradition is not always evolution. And I would rather pay a bit more to get a better service. I chose the hotel based on location, not on saving a few kroner or dollars so that one guy has to do all the work of running the bar and the reception on his own (actually there was a second staff member who made a coffee at the bar for someone, then went and didn't return)
As for the name, 'barception', ugh. I wince when I hear it or write it! That seems to be the trend these days, but of course it makes no sense, as there's no such thing as a 'ception'.
A return to tradition and what works in hotels would be better for me.
On night 2 we got a new room (after explaining that fan and positive attitude did not solve the problem). This room had a window (thank you!). There was, however, very much noise from the street - but this we lived fine with after trying to be locked up one night.
Otherwise nice atmosphere at the hotel and clean breakfast. However, it does not help, because you rent a hotel room primarily to get no sleep.
The hotel is starting to get a little tired, but has a very central location, and a large common area in the lobby, where you can work on the PC, drink coffee or have a beer.
So far, so well.
The hotel is called "animal friendly", so it is not optimal for allergic people.
However, what draws the most down is the pressure in the shower. It was so low that you don't feel clean after half an hour in the shower. With more pressure, I would spend less time in the shower. Feeled clean and spared water.
Otherwise good, and can probably recommend it, especially if you are not concerned with pressure in the shower.

All right hotel with good student price. Clean and proper, friendly staff. Located centrally in the city, just a stone’s throw from the bus in most directions. The breakfast is pretty basic, but I think it has what I need. Nice airy common area/lobby.
Not so good:
The lighting is poor. Little overview light in the room (only small lamps and a small spot over the door. Mirrors in the bathroom have no lighting, so it became difficult to see when I was to make up. Even the mirror in the elevator had better light!
Not a desk in the room, which I had greatly appreciated as a student.
It was and very warm in the room even with radiator and heating cables turned off. No thermostat on heating cables in the bathroom, just switch to turn on/off. In other words, full nail electricity. Nothing.
The rooms lack desk, fridge, ironing board etc..
The beds are two single beds that are pushed side by side. Narrow and yet a quite loose top mattress. Just a little pillow.
With us heating cables did not work in the bathroom that it was very cold, soap in the shower is not recommended. Glass doors from the bathroom to the room make it completely without privacy to use the bathroom.. had to down the reception to pick up doping paper.
The hotel is also located right next to a pub/site that plays crazy high rock music if you have room in that direction. Sounds just as good if the window was left too. Generally a lot of noise. The ventilation inside the room was also loud.
Breakfast was fine.
If you are going to Trondheim to enjoy your hotel weekend I would recommend something else.
Do you need a cheap kryp-in to have ear plugs, wool socks and own doping paper with run on!
Bathroom: glass door to the bathroom... You should know each other as a couple/duo and be able to tolerate some noises from the bathroom ;-)

Until then, the whole bathroom was soaked because there is no door you can close to prevent all the water ending up on the rest of the bathroom floor :(
I also couldn't attend breakfast on the morning of 13 August as I had to leave early, but is there usually an offer for a breakfast package, in any case I was not offered it, so I am very unsure whether I will use this hotel again at a later date occasion.

My hotel room did have an unusual bathroom door design—there was literally a big hole in the door instead of handles! 😅
