Detailed Reviews
Kragerø Resort is a very nice place to stay, and the staff is absolutely top class.
The check-in was quick and easy and we got a room with a nice view over the golf courses.
The room itself was a little bit old and worn, and it was not possible to lock the door to the terrace (broken handle/lock).
We had the buffet for dinner, and for sure the selection was great ranging from sushi, fish, meat, salads and different seafood (schrimps, oysters++).
The sushi itself was a little tasteless, but absolutely ok.
The breakfast buffet was also very good, so a good start on the day.
The spa itself was more like a normal pool-area, but nice to get a dip and take sauna, and not too many people due to a system where you get a specific time to be there.
But a little bit worn and not a place you go for realaxation and calm, but ok.
Outside there is a hining trail of 8.5km, absolutely worth it, best therapy and you can go there with normal clothes as well.
All in all a nice experience and will for sure return to Kragerø Resort.

We returned to this hotel after many years and were disappointed, it has definitely gone down hill under the new ownership.
The bar staff aren’t trained ‘or managed’, watching and listening to tennis behind the bar, smoking and listening to loud music on their phones when on a break in the outside bar, right next to where customers are relaxing outside!
Although I only booked a standard room (with a deal for spa access, pizza dinner, and a few other minor things) on a Sunday evening, the room was very basic for the money, no balcony, just an open outside shared area with two of the most pathetic chairs I have seen outside a kindergarten. Inside the room was sparse, nowhere to sit other than a desk chair, and limited storage (2 coat hangers), and this was a room sold for two people. Even though the hotel was very quiet, no room upgrade was offered to promote the hotel and entice me to come back again, which I guess I won’t be doing. We even had to collect our own bathrobe and slippers as they hadn’t got around to putting them in the room as part of the deal, although I did’t arrive until c6 hours after making the booking.
At least the pizzas were good🤣
As an addendum, I shared a version of this review with the hotel manger via e-mail the night before we left. He responded after we had left the following lunchtime saying his team would look into the bar staff behaviour but no real apology or offer of any compensation for the poor experience we had.

Choose another Spa! The hotel and rooms are worn. Needs an upgrade. It was too cold in the pools and hot tubs, it should be upgraded and you should raise it a couple of degrees. I froze. There is too little atmosphere in the spa, spa music and the calm atmosphere were missing.
We upgraded to a suite, perfectly fine room. Fan outside the room that made noise all night so we couldn't have the window/door open. You could treat better duvets, the duvets are some thin heavy things. The mattress in the bed showed signs of much use. Too soft. Tiles in the bathroom have fallen off. Missed opportunity to stream on TV and music system.
We were recommended to eat in the restaurant, the pizza tasted nothing and was a disaster. Had to order a pomme frits to fill up. We ordered a good red wine which cost quite a bit, you could treat yourself to some nice and proper red wine glasses for a good wine. Does not fit with kitchen glass from IKEA. Missed Riedel or something similar. The waiter did not know Norwegian. This is too bad and way too expensive. We will choose another place on our next excursion.

My family an I booked ourselves a suite at Kragerø resort to enjoy a weekend together with good food and amazing views. We arrived approximately 1 1/2 hours before check-in, so a bit earlier than we calculated because the weather conditions and roads were better than we expected. We went to the reception once we’ve arrived and asked politely if our room already might be ready for us cause we have a daughter who’s only a few months old. So we thought it would be great if we could check in and change her diaper and feed her. But we were met by a grumpy old female receptionist who only gave a short and irritated answer that we had to wait.
And that’s far enough. We hadn’t payed for early check-in, and sat down in the lobby and made the best out of the situation. A few minutes later other couples and families arrived to the hotel and asked if there was a possibility to check-in earlier since they’d arrived earlier. They were all met by a different receptionist a colleague to the older woman we spoke to. And were all allowed to check in.
I started to feel a bit annoyed, and payed attention the whole time to the reception so I could see if she would try to make contact with me. But no. Not once did she even look at us. It was like we didn’t exist.
We waited out almost the whole 1 1/2 hours and then I went up to the reception again, but this time to the other receptionist. He told us immediately that our room was ready for us, and I explained to him that we’ve been waiting quite some time and was never informed that the room was ready earlier.
The first woman we’d spoken to didn’t care about us at all. And I that poor service and a bad attitude.
We were really disappointed and felt left out when couple after couple and family after family checked in before us, and none of them seemed to have payed for early check in. So it was really unfair.
We’ve been staying at the hotel occasionally since 2010 and this time was far the worst experience ever.
Our suite that we’d booked was also located furthest away from everything with a view of a concrete chimney. Since this was low season, and the hotel didn’t seem to have a lot of guests we thought that we could’ve gotten a suite with a bit better location. It was like we were purposely placed as far away as possible from everything.
And the facility needs an upgrade. It looks practically the same as it did 10 years ago, so it looks worn out on a few spots. A few things in the suite were “out of order”, like the sink in the bathtub, and there was a large piece missing under the fridge which means that my daughter could’ve injured her self by putting her hand in the hole. And it was freezing in the rooms even if we turned up the radiator to maximum.
We will probably never go back after this bad experience, especially when you pay a lot of money to stay there.

We booked a standard room for 1 night for the not insignificant sum of kr 3,760 (£ 307, $ 424). Payment was required up front with 7 day cancellation terms and no refund after that. Golf was another kr 1000 (£ 82, $ 112) We arrived in the morning and parked the car (extra cost) and went golfing.
Later we checked in and went to our room. I don't think the term "standard" room really summed it up. Very small room, 2 small beds, a bathroom and a TV hanging on the wall, with cables dangling halfway down to the floor. The balcony was small. No coffee/tee making facilities, no fridge or minibar. Spa for a little while which was ok, although we missed some nice outside areas for sitting in the sun.
Table booked for dinner at 19:30 and were surprised to find that it was in the bar area and not in the VIEW restaurant which is evidently closed on Sundays in the middle of the high tourist season. After waiting for 15 minutes we were shown to a table on the terrace with a nice view of a large round concrete post. Credit to the staff, they were friendly and got us moved to a better table after an hour. The menu was very limited with three salads, and three main courses (burger, beef, pork). Breakfast was ok and served in the restaurant that was closed on Sundays.
The general impression of this stay was of a hotel that has lost money for years, but thanks to COVID has the opportunity to make some fast money and hence the sky high prices for what is essentially a 3 star experience.

Glamorous location is the only special thing about Kragerø Resort
Room is old Fashion with no facilities
Spa is small and rusty in need for upgrade
Pool water was freezing
Jacuzzi distribute water unevenly
Service in both restaurants was terrible except one Spanish Gentleman who was friendly and helpful.
Food was the worst of them all, I got the wrong order and my partner had cold food my second order came 20 minutes later and still wrong so basically we had dinner separately my partner and I.
Yet we have received the bill and paid everything.
Then took it personal when we complain to the service manger and they started to treat us unprofessionally.
breaking buffet was Decent
Drinks tasted and presented very good

The resort is big, but the staff told us where to go so there was no trouble there.
We got to our room and it was HOT. Tried to change the AC, but pretty soon figured that there was no ac in the room… Tried to vent the room using the door to the porch, but it didnt help alot
We had booked entry to the spa bath at 17:35. We got there and was expecting everything to be superb. One of the saunas did not work and neither did the steam sauna. We ended up swiming around waiting to use all the different facilities. The view from the pool was great.
The food tastes amazing. The service from the waiters however… we ordered a drink and food as soon as we arrived. While we were eating we wanted more to drink, but the waiters did not see us. We tried to get contact with them and even sat our glasses at the end of the table to make them take the hint. After and hour, long after we were done eating we finally were able to ordere more to drink.
You expect more for the price you pay. Dont think we’ll be back at this resort any time soon.

We had high expectations - which the hotel did not live up to.
The room was worn. Cold in the bathroom. No minibar. Bad beds and duvets that felt like a garbage bag. Tiles in the bathroom were peeling and it looked like someone had tried to grout it.
The spa was not what you call a spa. There was a pool, jacuzzi and sauna. It was so loud in the pool area that it rattled the walls - not a relaxing spa stay. If you are used to Farris Bad, then it cannot be compared. Pool party on Saturday so the bar in the spa was up - a plus. Far too few showers in the cloakroom for so many people at the same time. What about booking time in the spa? In addition, we had to pay for bathrobes and slippers - NOK 189 per person - this should have been included in a spa hotel.
The food bar at the reception had good drinks, but costs about NOK 180 for a drink.
Dinner in the restaurant was a buffet and there was a very good selection with lots of good food. It costs NOK 699 per person and drinks are included. The restaurant had a nice view of Kragerø. Pleasant and service-minded waiters/cleaning help in the restaurant. which topped off the experience.
Parking in a car park costs approx. NOK 150 per day.
A hotel you must expect to spend money on in relation to the additional items that are needed.

A spa hotel where bathrobes cost NOK 80 extra, a spa facility where there is no possibility of delicious cold water other than from a drinking fountain that you have to stand over and slurp water from. Not so much as a small fruit bar or a cup of tea when you sit down to rest in the relax section.
A suite with only 4 cups of free coffee and no tea for 5 people and NOK 500 extra if you want to use the cutlery.
Dear you. This would have cost you a drop in the ocean and increased your stay enormously.
If I were you, I would visit similar hotels and see what they offer and think that this is what I wish for my badly needed customers.

Does not live up to expectations at all, the spa area by the pool is not calm and relaxing at all, cold in the water. Very overpriced for everything. Also ordered a classic massage and this is the worst massage I've ever come across, they're supposed to make it so nice and great but it was the worst massage I've had in my whole life that I spent over NOK 1100 on😭 Really bad location and everything!
