Citybox is a modern economy hotel with low prices. Our rooms are cheap because we keep our running expenses down while still offering our guests what they really need: a simple and stylish room with a delicate bath, a comfortable bed, a good chair, a desk and a place for hanging your clothes. Wireless broadband is available free of charge throughout the hotel. Citybox combines simplicity with comfort and low prices. The hotel is located in the centre of Oslo, 5 minutes walking from Oslo S, train staion. If you want to spend your money on something other than a minibar and room service, then Citybox is the place for you. Oslo is full of bars. Why do you need one in your hotel room? We recently teamed up with a cafe that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner for all our guests, and also provides a 10% discount for our guests. In addition they also cater to our meeting rooms. The cafe has a direct entrance from the hotel.

Firstly the hotel is in a great location. Central to the city centre, shopping areas, Eateries, Train/Bus station, Harbour and The fantastic Akerhus Fortress Everything is within a short walking distance. One other plus point is that the beds are very comfortable And that’s where the positives ends, Firstly the staff are atrocious. It’s a self check in hotel which only accepted credit debit cards so if you want to pay by cash you have to ring the bell to get hold of a member of staff. The check in staff had zero personality and were absolutely clueless. They had trouble understanding we had a booking but finally got through after a few minutes, after two nights and late at night my wife and I tried to go to sleep due to getting an early flight when a member of staff knocked on our door informing us that there was no booking in our name and needed proof. We had a receipt for the money we paid when we arrived and proof of our booking. He took a picture of said booking and didn’t even apologise for inconveniencing us The staff we encountered on our stay were like deer in the headlights. I really don’t know how they manage to keep hold of their jobs if this is what goes on in the hotel. Moving on now onto the room we booked a standard double. What we were given was a small room very small . The view was of the courtyard where boarded up windows, chicken wire etc was the order of the day. There was not enough room to place a case anywhere as you would simply walk into it. The quilt covers had black marks on them and the bathroom was also tiny if you got up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet you would walk into the shower door, the toilet was lodged next to the shower to make for an extra cramped experience. Even the hairdryer was chained to the wall so no one walked off with it. So you had a about 2 inches to dry your hair where you end up in worse shape than the elephant man whilst using it Another point of the Hovel. I mean hotel was that the room was stiflingly hot and the window would not open to alleviate said heat. The hotel is basic fair enough. With no tv or kettle in room etc there is a small kitchen on the lower ground of the hotel where you can store food in the fridge and buy a cup of coffee for 20 krone This hotel gives nothing away It just seems really soulless and there is no attention to the traveller as echoed by other travellers it seems like a Low budget hostel. We won’t be staying here again. Whilst it did not spoil our wonderful trip to Oslo we feel that the hotel needs a personal touch and some facilities for the traveller. There are no breakfast facilities there is an adjoining Cafe Rent Mel Not a great deal of selection to be honest. Croissants were lovely though 2 croissants and a tea and coffee will set you back around 140 krone. Around £13

Very please we booked this hotel, originally booked a more expensive hotel but changed it to here after realising how much spending money we would need to really enjoy Olso and Svalbard. Really please we changed as this hotel was half the price but still very comfortable and clean. Yes the room is small but we knew this was the case and it really wasn't a problem. Location was perfect, so near to central station.

Perfect for a solo traveler - leisure or business. Stayed in a single occupancy room, which was spartan in terms of provisions and furnishings but you won't feel that anything is lacking. Self service check-ins and check-out. Microwave, TV and such amenities in the common areas for your use. 5 mins walk from the Oslo central station and tram stops right outside the hotel. Plenty of eateries nearby as well. Would definitely go back or visit another Citybox.
