Detailed Reviews
A gorgeous small luxury/boutique hotel, beautiful cosy interior, beautiful outdoors, fabulous location away from the city in the woods yet not too far from Oslo centre by metro . Helpful and kind staff , chef makes organic and fresh foods from their own produce including a home made honey, very nicely decorated and quite spacious bedrooms , nice swimming pool and sauna and the best of all, the breakfast buffet. Enough options if you are vegan or vegetarian! My family and I couldn’t wait for the morning to go for a breakfast! Loved the most the carrot and ginger shots followed by a home made peanut butter and rhubarb jam! Amazing afternoon tea too! Love the clotted cream and scones, all freshly made, couldn’t get enough of them! Well done to all! Thank you Kit for inviting us here to this gorgeous place! Love Norway! Would definitely come back and highly recommend ! No faults at all!

From checking in until checking out we were pleased having chosen this hotel. We had chosen this hotel because of the closeness to the ferry terminal, and we were right, it took us approximately 30 minutes by car to get there after checking out. The hotel is located near the Holmenkollen ski jump in the “wood”. The basis of this hotel was once a large farm with its several buildings. Every building has been completely renovated and this has been done in the best of taste. Our room was excellent, although the bathroom could have been a little bit larger. Our dinner was extraordinarily good and the wine waiter took much pleasure in explaining the wines and even showing us the large wine cellar. Very interesting!
Breakfast was very good and the service in the hotel as well.

We booked this hotel for a short stay as part of our tour around Scandinavia, partly for the fact that it offered car parking and its closeness to public transport (why would you drive into Oslo?).
Our arrival in rain and low cloud emphasised the peace and serenity of this place (and yes there was a wedding while we were there, but it did not intrude).
Breakfast is very good and the staff were very polite and friendly.
Excellent value for money

Nice hotel with an excellent kitchen. The staff is really friendly and always willing to help you out with everything. The only thing which could be improved is the cleaning. Unfortunetely hair on the floor and washbassin of previous guests and/or cleaning lady not properly removed.

Lysebu is a fabulous place located in a beautiful forest, away from but close to Oslo. Our room had floor to ceiling windows/door with a beautiful view. It had a contemporary Scandinavian design and was very comfortable. We loved the art works and the history of the hotel/conference center. The Guest Reception, especially Kit, was very knowledgeable and helpful meeting all of our needs. We highly recommend Lysebu! Many thanks.

Slow check-in, paid extra for early check-in, but apparently so had about 20 other guests and only one receptionist. Check-in itself was quick and easy. Room was in a different building but still reasonably accessible given the snow. Very generous room with private access to balcony (lots of snow) sofa and storage all lovely, bathroom would benefit from a bath but other than that all good. Parking is paid for extra but hadn't registered our number plate. Wine cellar tour at 5pm was interesting but surprisingly to us (Australians!) no wine tasting was offered, just look at the bottles and imagine! Dinner at 7, perfect table for 2 at a window, outstanding 5 course match wine experience, service was polite, all comfortable and enjoyable. Breakfast served to room (option) was generous, prompt and fresh. Would recommend.

Dear guest, Thank you for your thoughtful review and for highlighting the aspects of your stay that you enjoyed. We’re thrilled to hear that you found our room generous and the dinner experience outstanding. We apologize for any inconvenience during check-in and appreciate your patience. Regarding the wine cellar tour, we understand that this might have been surprising. Due to strict drinking laws in Norway, we are unable to offer free wine tastings. Additionally, many of our wines are exclusive and one-of-a-kind, which prevents us from providing samples. We are glad you enjoyed the rest of your experience and hope to welcome you back for another memorable stay. Kind regards, Team Lysebu

Really beautiful place both the surroundings as well as the hotel.
The room was really big and seemed quite new.
Had both lunch and dinner which so so. While dinner was really good, it tasted like the mashed potato was not homemade but the powder stuff where you add hot water.

Dear guest, Thank you for your positive review and for choosing to stay with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed our beautiful surroundings and found the room spacious and new. We appreciate your feedback on our dining experience. We're glad you enjoyed dinner, but we're sorry to hear about your impression of the mashed potatoes. Please allow us to clarify that we take great care in making our mashed potatoes as smooth as possible, using only fresh ingredients. We understand that the consistency may resemble powdered mashed potatoes, but rest assured, they are homemade with the utmost attention to quality. We hope to welcome you back for another pleasant stay. Kind regards, Team Lysebu

Wonderful hotel in the mountains. But 15 minute walk is the metro station that will bring you to central Oslo in 30 minutes. Rooms very spacious and clean. Go for the room with mountain view to have great sunsets! Nice pool (a bit chilly) and a sauna. Nice restaurant for dinner and very good breakfast!

Dear Louise, Thank you for Your request. Pool and sauna is included in Your stay here. Have a wonderful day. Best Regards, Team Lysebu
I arrived late at night and the advice was to take a taxi from the airport and to use a fixed rate OsloTaxi which you can book on the screens near the taxi stand just outside in the covered area. The fare was I think reasonable at around NOK1200 given that it was 1am and a 50 min drive. Train was still running but suspect the taxi from the nearest railway station Skøyen would have been a struggle (and no fun in the snow at 2am)
Good afternoon Bobby.
You can go to Lysebu eigther by car/taxi or by the metro (T-bane). The metro use around 30 minutes from the city center, and then there is a ten minutes walk from the station. There is a good routine for plouging the roads during winter.
The pool is open all year, and we have a nice sauna as well. The views from the hotel is always lovely, both summer and winter.
I hope you will come and stay with us. It's well worth the trip.
Kind regards
Flemming Nilsen
