The room was great. It was clean and the bed was very nice. I was lucky and had a beautiful view over the fiord. The breakfast could have been a bit better organised. It took some time before empty trays were replaced. The food was great.
It’s a good hotel and adjacent to Oslo Central station. From the airport there is a non stop train and the hotel can be reached within 20 minutes. A nice rest is attached to the hotel. City center and church are within walkable distance from the hotel. The front office staff are very courteous and cooperative. Rooms are of European standards and maintained well.
The hotel is centrally located and the reception and bar staff were exceptionally helpful. We had a room overlooking the harbour which was appreciated. The room was small but functional. Breakfast was buffet style, located in the restaurant just across from the hotel.
Scandic Byporten is a perfekt hotel near the busscentral and railwaycentral. Very scilled and nice staff in the reception. Comfortable beds in a clean room. We were fourtunite to get a room on the 6th floor with a nice view over the harbour. Perfect!
Its convenience hotel location as its connect to train station but its so complicated to find as its inside mall and ofcourse for first time visit atleast hotel should have some hotel sign to show where is direction of hotel. The room is small but is ok but the mattress need to improve is hard to sleep.the reception area look confused as its same place of the bar and its first time that barber shop located in the lobby area .only the breakfast was great at Egon restaurant more selection of the food and huge area.
We primarily chose this hotel for its proximity to the train station, and it was perfect in this regard, but do make sure you are clear on how to get here if arriving by train, as there a a few different exits from the station. I had checked in online and been allocated a room by the Scandic app, but was reallocated a room on high floor as per my preferences when we arrived (without asking) which was very nice. Our room was a Superior category room, and was a reasonable size and overlooked the street. The bathroom was large and modern with a big shower. There was plenty of space for 3 of us, and the room and bathroom were very clean. While the room was nicely decorated and contemporary, the hallway felt cold and bright like a hospital or office building and had scuff marks on the paintwork. Front desk staff were so, so lovely, and gave great help with things like restaurant recommendations (and then asked for a follow up when we got back to see if we enjoyed ourselves). But the best bit was an amazing breakfast at Egon Restaurant. There was so much choice and the quality was fantastic. Also, there is a lovely aspect to enjoy while you eat. The restaurant had a funny layout though, which means you may end up sitting quite a distance from the buffet. Our only issue was one night there was some seriously loud music coming from a bar or nightclub somewhere nearby - certainly not the fault of the hotel, and always an issue with a central location, but perhaps mention this if you are a sensitive sleeper so that you can be accommodated in a quieter area of the hotel if possible. This was our first experience with the Scandic brand, and will certainly stay again (in fact, we did - using Scandic in Stockholm and Helsinki on this trip also!).…
Perfect location, great breakfast, very nice personnel. But strange electrical solutions in the room, bed was worn out, tv channels mainly local. Price was very expensive for such a room. My membership level was not considered.
We had a very lovely stay at Scandic, even if it was just for one night. The location was perfect for us since we were there too celebrate a birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpfull at all times. I would recommend Scandic byporten 100 prosent.
The hotel's central location makes all the city's offers easily accessible. Tasteful and cozy decor invites you to relax and the breakfast is impeccable in peaceful surroundings. Impressed by the staff's excellent service. Recommended!
Excellent modern hotel at Oslo's main train station. Small well appointed rooms with windows that open for fresh air! No view from our room but you are in the centre of town! Great reception staff and well themed bar area with excellent bar. V good buffet breakfast included. Great option for visiting oslo or catching an early train or flight.
