Wow, what can I say! Had the most amazing little mini-break in my hometown, at this iconic and historic hotel! Everything was excellent; the front desk staff were outstanding, especially Anton, thanks for your incredible hospitality and the best service I have experienced in a long time. You made my daughter & I feel special and very welcome. We loved our room with a little balcony, facing Oslo’s Main Street. Our bed was like sleeping on clouds, very comfy! We had a bathtub in our room, which was appreciated. Our dinner at Palmen restaurant was also superb, we enjoyed the 3 course meal on the menu, accompanied with good wine. Our waiter was very attentive and professional. Loved sitting in the sofa under the candelabra in Palmen. The breakfast the following morning was maybe the best thing about the whole stay, a huge variety of excellent food, beautifully presented. We also had the pleasure of spending time in the spa and pool area, loved every minute. This hotel has some incredible artwork in the lobby, in Grand Cafè, in Palmen, and in the hallways, make sure you take time to enjoy this! The Grand Cafè located in the Grand Hotel was the meeting place for Norway’s most famous and iconic artists, painters & authors. I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall back in those days, listening to the Kristiania Bohème-movement telling their stories, and listening to their discussions, as they enjoyed their drinks in the Grand Cafè!

We spent 3 nights in Oslo last year with my boyfriend, the hotel was really nice, the location is perfect, just in the center, everything was close, the marina, the city center, the metro. Our suit was so elegant, with a nice view to the main square and the parliament, and i have to notice that the bed was the most comfortable i've every experienced. The staff was so nice and polite, they recommended us a really good restaurants and programs in the city. The breakfast was great also, we asked to serve it to our suite, since we like to sleep till late, and it was possible to get it at noon, it was a nice surprice. So i cant say any negative things, we plan to go back for sure. :)

I was so looking forward to staying here after reading positive reviews but I have to say I was very disappointed. We were given a room on the 7 th floor which was very claustrophobic. Low ceiling and blocked windows. It felt like we had been put in the loft. That I might have been able to cope with but the room was filthy. It clearly had not been cleaned in months as I am guessing the hotel had been closed during covid. Thick dust everywhere and cigarette ash on the window. The room was also on poor repair and the toilet continually flushed. We complained and were moved to another room on the 7th floor. Again the room was in very poor repair. The windows again were heavily restricted. Low ceiling and worse of all the cover of the heater was falling off and had just been left. (See pictures ). We complained and were moved for the third time. This time to a superior Room on the 3rd floor. This room was much better but still not what I would call 5 star. No complimentary water in the room was annoying to say the least and they leave cleaning equipment just lying about in the corridors ( see pic ) the carpet cleaner was there for my entire 4 day stay. Positives. The staff were great , the location of the hotel perfect and the breakfast good. Also the main parts of the hotel look great and are very elegant. Also the roof top bar is great. In summary I definitely would not stay here again and if you do make sure you have a superior room. You would be better in a 2 star hotel rather than this place if you have a booked a standard room.

Greetings 547stevenm, Thank you very much for your feedback, we highly appreciate it. We are truly sorry for your poor experience while staying with us. The Grand Hotel Oslo is a building from 1874. The original building had two floors and built in a classic style where rooms we designed with high ceilings. As the building grew upwards and a more modern design installed, ceilings were becoming less high. The advantage of this is that we can offer both high and low ceilings in our property, where high ceilings are available in upgraded rooms. Since Covid-19 became part of our lives, the Housekeeping team has been taking particular attention to all aspects of cleaning in the room. We will gather further information about this with the team, as well as provide measures in regards to cleaning equipment in corridors and revise the heater cover. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our staff service, as well as the rooftop bar and the interior design of our areas. Understanding your experience, please do not hesitate in contacting me directly whenever you come back to Oslo. With warmest regards, Grand Hotel Oslo

I travel to Oslo 3-4 times in a year and stay usually at the Grand Hotel. Grand is a traditional luxury hotel with a perfect location in the middle of the city center, Parliament building is just across the street. My last stay at the Grand was very different from my previous experience there: middle of March and situation with COVID-19 around. I do understand that it was a lot of restrictions cause of COVID-19: bars and restuarants were closed, the same SPA and GYM. It was no breakfast buffet this time. I understand it. But what happened with all the staff? It was only 1 sweet lady at the front desk all the time I was staying there. No concierge, no bellman, no doorman. Usually you get your car parked, but not this time. I was needed some help with my luggage but I could not ask the lady at the reception about it. I didn't have any chance to ask some questions about situation in Oslo cause this 1 lady was occupied on phone all the time. Is it some kind restriction about it? I don't think so, just way to save money. Guys, you can not charge Grand hotel price for the room (2000+ NOK) and provide Scandic motel service. It will not work that way, it a lot alternatives around. Luxury hotel it is not only location and well equipped room but also service - welcoming and smiling staff around. My next trip to Oslo will in October and I hope I ll see the old Grand which was few months ago or otherwise I have to find other options for accommodation in Oslo.

The Grand Hotel Oslo, which opened in 1874, is located in Oslo’s city center and based only 500 meters from the Royal Palace. In addition, the Karl Johan high street and luxury boutiques and the popular area Aker Brygge are within a few minutes’ walk of the hotel. The Stortinget Metro Station is just around the corner, while the National Theater and its train station is 600 meters away from Grand Hotel. So, the location is perfect for visitors. The friendliness of the staff starting with the General Manager, who welcomed us personally, the quick friendly check-in process and the great and knowledgeable staff members in the Othilia lobby bar and Palmen restaurant, are exemplary and makes the Grand Hotel Oslo special for each guest. We enjoyed free access to the close Artesia spa on weekdays and free access to the WiFi during our whole stay. Our guest room was equipped with comfortable and classic furniture, a flat-screen TV, minibar and on the balcony, we had a wonderful view over Oslo. In addition, the Grand Hotel offers during the day great food and drink options. The breakfast buffet served in the Grand Café is just amazing. You feel in a place where past and present meets. The huge painting provides an historic atmosphere of the late 19th century. The salmon prepared in different ways is delicious and the variety of fresh fruits help to start healthy into the day. Lunch and dinner are offered in the Palmen restaurant with a menu consisting of large and small dishes in a fusion of continental and Nordic cuisine. In the evening Othili`s lobby bar offers nicely prepared drinks and cocktails in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
