since I moved to Oslo for the first time and long before that I have always wanted to stay at the Grand Hotel. Always looked very impressive from the outside and is famous for being the most luxurious hotel in Oslo because the Nobel peace price and All the stars stay there. Our first impression were really nice people who worked in the reception, very service minded. first problem was getting our pram up some stairs in the middle of the reception to get to the lifts. It is not really good planning also that's for people in wheelchairs. But it was ok, staff came running and help to lift it up the stairs everything was quite luxurious and stylish we had a Great Expectations for the room. It was unfortunately really disappointing no attention to details and not at all what you expect from a room that supposed to be 5-star and usually go for and 2200kr for the nite. The floor under one of the chairs were really scratchy and the bottom of the shelf the TV was on had a big scratch in it the toilet roll holder the bathroom had a thick layer of Old grime and dust on it and maybe worst the place where you put your head against the headboard was full of something I just expect was other people's greasy head it did just not look good. The room had a bathtub in the bathroom, buy it was so small we could barely fit into it is about half size or am a normal tub. All in all it looks more like a two Star hotel in London. This is very far away from a five star there. I have feeling that the Suites and bedrooms towards rhe Main Street does not look anything like this. See photos for reference. I will go to SAS or Continental next time. This was very sad experience of such a legendary place.

We as a couple was lucky to get an upgraded stay at this historical and iconic hotel in the middle of Oslo. As we had an offer of a bigger room, meal and breakfast. It was wonderful and a pleasent stay. The hotel was easy to write us on emails in advance of our stay. As we requested to get a room with a bath-tub. Which the staff said they would put into consideration, but not definitely promise. So, when we entered the room and saw it. We was extra happy. We had also booked a deal with a two part meal for both of us. Where we could pick between two dishes and a prepared desert. This went really smooth and was the proof of fine dining. Will have a separate review of this in the Resturant review. The hotel room was clean. With a lovely message meeting us. Vastly spaced and we had a room on a side-street to Karl Johan. Where we could see across to the City Hall. We couldn't here the streets or what happened in the neighbours rooms. That was a real luxury. There was plenty of small features. The bed was big and soft. Lots of pillows and even a small rose for Valentines. Which was such a nice touch from the hotel. The room was splendid. To have a King Superior room in a hotel like this was amazing. The painting, the chairs and the balcony. If it was a warmer season. Me and my wife could have even sitted out there. We could even hear the demonstrations outside there when we walked outside after checking-in on Saturday. The Grand Hotel breakfast was a sort of upgraded Scandic breakfast experience. As there was some features of grandeur, but others of ordinary stay at a hotel in the chain. There was extra with the serving of tea and coffee. Also, the touch of locally produced food and more expensive juices than on ordinary chain-hotels. So, they have amped up the bar. This was a nice overnight stay with a lot to offer the guests. We are super happy to have such a stay. Where we got to enjoy the room, the service, the class and the perks of such a place. We had an awesome weekend stay here from Saturday to Sunday. It was worth every hour and we can recommend this place.

Wow, what can I say! Had the most amazing little mini-break in my hometown, at this iconic and historic hotel! Everything was excellent; the front desk staff were outstanding, especially Anton, thanks for your incredible hospitality and the best service I have experienced in a long time. You made my daughter & I feel special and very welcome. We loved our room with a little balcony, facing Oslo’s Main Street. Our bed was like sleeping on clouds, very comfy! We had a bathtub in our room, which was appreciated. Our dinner at Palmen restaurant was also superb, we enjoyed the 3 course meal on the menu, accompanied with good wine. Our waiter was very attentive and professional. Loved sitting in the sofa under the candelabra in Palmen. The breakfast the following morning was maybe the best thing about the whole stay, a huge variety of excellent food, beautifully presented. We also had the pleasure of spending time in the spa and pool area, loved every minute. This hotel has some incredible artwork in the lobby, in Grand Cafè, in Palmen, and in the hallways, make sure you take time to enjoy this! The Grand Cafè located in the Grand Hotel was the meeting place for Norway’s most famous and iconic artists, painters & authors. I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall back in those days, listening to the Kristiania Bohème-movement telling their stories, and listening to their discussions, as they enjoyed their drinks in the Grand Cafè!

We spent 3 nights in Oslo last year with my boyfriend, the hotel was really nice, the location is perfect, just in the center, everything was close, the marina, the city center, the metro. Our suit was so elegant, with a nice view to the main square and the parliament, and i have to notice that the bed was the most comfortable i've every experienced. The staff was so nice and polite, they recommended us a really good restaurants and programs in the city. The breakfast was great also, we asked to serve it to our suite, since we like to sleep till late, and it was possible to get it at noon, it was a nice surprice. So i cant say any negative things, we plan to go back for sure. :)

I was so looking forward to staying here after reading positive reviews but I have to say I was very disappointed. We were given a room on the 7 th floor which was very claustrophobic. Low ceiling and blocked windows. It felt like we had been put in the loft. That I might have been able to cope with but the room was filthy. It clearly had not been cleaned in months as I am guessing the hotel had been closed during covid. Thick dust everywhere and cigarette ash on the window. The room was also on poor repair and the toilet continually flushed. We complained and were moved to another room on the 7th floor. Again the room was in very poor repair. The windows again were heavily restricted. Low ceiling and worse of all the cover of the heater was falling off and had just been left. (See pictures ). We complained and were moved for the third time. This time to a superior Room on the 3rd floor. This room was much better but still not what I would call 5 star. No complimentary water in the room was annoying to say the least and they leave cleaning equipment just lying about in the corridors ( see pic ) the carpet cleaner was there for my entire 4 day stay. Positives. The staff were great , the location of the hotel perfect and the breakfast good. Also the main parts of the hotel look great and are very elegant. Also the roof top bar is great. In summary I definitely would not stay here again and if you do make sure you have a superior room. You would be better in a 2 star hotel rather than this place if you have a booked a standard room.

Greetings 547stevenm, Thank you very much for your feedback, we highly appreciate it. We are truly sorry for your poor experience while staying with us. The Grand Hotel Oslo is a building from 1874. The original building had two floors and built in a classic style where rooms we designed with high ceilings. As the building grew upwards and a more modern design installed, ceilings were becoming less high. The advantage of this is that we can offer both high and low ceilings in our property, where high ceilings are available in upgraded rooms. Since Covid-19 became part of our lives, the Housekeeping team has been taking particular attention to all aspects of cleaning in the room. We will gather further information about this with the team, as well as provide measures in regards to cleaning equipment in corridors and revise the heater cover. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our staff service, as well as the rooftop bar and the interior design of our areas. Understanding your experience, please do not hesitate in contacting me directly whenever you come back to Oslo. With warmest regards, Grand Hotel Oslo
