This is the second time I have stayed at Olympiatoppen and I intend to go again next year. This place offers a great holiday in beautiful surroundings. The ambience was sport, health and fitness - it is ideal for those wanting to inject some self-discpline into your life. At Olympiatoppen you mix with athletes and holidaymakers - the general feeling in the place is positivity. When we stayed this time we were there at the same time as a team of athletes with disabilities - the atmosphere was fantastic: friendly, welcoming and most of all determined and sport focused. For someone like myself always battling with weight and fitness this place is like a spa or a retreat - it is superb. The rooms are basic but that is all you want. I did notice that this time they put us in a double room which did have some pictures on the wall so they have taken into account the suggestions of other reviewers without ruining the ambience we sought. Breafast is even better than before with additional choices for vegans like ourselves. Coffee is still unlimited throughout the day. Transport is a stones-throw away and the nearby loch is beautiful. The loch paths are a gateway to other places further into the hinterland and this time we took our chance to explore - wonderful! I would recommend this place to everyone. It most certainly is not the Dorchester - but who would want that when you can have all this place has to offer?…
We stayed there before and after the Rammstein concert at Ulevaal Stadium which is nearby and a station along the same metro-line. The hotel is very basic with a sporty style, but it was perfect for our purpose - to rest after the concert! Thank you so much for letting us stay 4 people even if we had booked for only 3!
Nice hotel accessible by metro number 5 last stop. We stayed 2 nights in June. The hotel staff are friendly, service is excellent and everything perfect. The hotel is ideal for people who love nature, sports and quite and small hotel.
This hotel offered one of the weirdest experiences I have had with regard to holidays. I have never stayed anywhere like it and the experience was fantastic. This is a place that I will be rebooking for next year. Yes, it is sporty and the internal décor of the halls and public room make you feel that you are staying in a gymnasium or fitness club -but that should not be any surprise as even the name tells you this. The rooms are as they appear in the pictures: clean, tidy and although bit 'regimental' they are also comfortable, quiet and relaxing. The shower is superb and the rooms kept at a reasonable temperature. I would not change a thing - they have got it exactly right. Breakfast is served between 7 and 9 in a canteen style room. The buffet has a limited choice but a lot of what is on offer is vegetable and fruit based - ideal for vegans like myself. Coffee is excellent and free all day at any time. Almost everyone entering the canteen was younger and thinner than me by a long way but the atmosphere was positive and civil. The hallway down to the bedrooms is 'littered' with bicycles and sports shoes in the evenings but these only serve to enhance the 'sporty' ambience. You also have access to a gymnasium if you wish to make use of it. The place is set near a loch with wonderful walks around it and from there paths lead further into the hills and to other lochs. The loch itself has many runners, joggers, walkers and swimmers of all ages, shapes and sizes - some even wider than myself. The countryside around is stunning and the air fresh and water clear. The T-ban station is almost at the door of the hotel and takes only about 25 minutes to get you to town but I would recommend that you also take the walk into town (only about 1hr 20mins) as you get a good chance to see the local suburbs and the different ways people live in Norway. It is also good exercise!”…
Olympiatoppen sportshotel is in Sognsvann in the Nordmarka area about 7 kilometres outside Oslo city. The hotel is 200 meters from the Sognsvann tube station. Line 5 will take you to Oslo main railway station in 20 minutes. Olympiatoppen sportshotel is a partner hotel to Scandic, which means that Scandic friends, the loyalty program is valid. Free Wi-Fi. Positives Friendly staff. Clean spacious room. The hotel is located in a lovely area perfect for outdoor activities and still close to Oslo with the metro station right next to the hotel. Negatives Rooms, lobby and corridors are very basic. Basic is what most people need at a sports hotel I guess, but it would be so easy to lift the rooms with some lights, something nice on the walls, cover the dreadful plastic mat, make it possible to put the tiny beds together, etc. My room had two narrow beds, one in each side of the room. I could choose between having a power outlet OR a bed table. Breakfast is included and served 7.00-9.00 (generously up until 9.30 on weekends). But the quality was really poor and did not reach normal Scandic-standard at all. No hot dishes, dry tasteless bread, not much to choose from and all accompanied by a boring school canteen feeling. Nothing cosy what so ever. Noise from the corridor and from other rooms using water. The reception shop is behind the desk and there was not much to choose from compared to a normal Scandic hotel. To conclude: This hotel offers a youth hostel standard (a fairly nice hostel to be honest) but the cost is still hotel price. I can only recommend it if you really need to be in the right place for your sports activities or if you want to experience the lovely staff.…
