Amerikalinjen's venerable headquarters have been reborn as a vibrant boutique hotel, designed for the modern explorer. Outside the door lies the pulsating city of Oslo. The Opera, shopping in Kvadraturen and the nightlife on Youngstorget are our closest neighbours. Welcome!
Top top hotel. Absolutely nothing to be negative about. All the stuff you want was excellent: shower; bed; staff; food; gym etc. it was additional things that most hotels won’t have. Subtle light in the bathroom that came on in the night when you open the bathroom door so as not to disturb the others sleep. Adaptive light controls from beside the bed that illuminated when you hover your fingers over them. Connect music from your phone and can isolate into the bathroom. Great TV technology that allows you to watch your own Netflix or other TV of your phone. Just everything to make our stay that much more comfortable. And then location. Right in the middle of town, short walk from train station and tram/bus stops right outside. Just brilliant place.

We had 4 nights at this hotel and truly loved our stay here. The staff whether they were from reception, at breakfast or housekeeping just couldn’t do enough for its guests and made us feel most welcomed. From the time we walked in, Jelena was all smiles and was happy to suggest places for dinner and then followed up with making the reservations for us. When we returned for the second leg of our stay, she was at reception and welcomed us by name as if we were her long lost friends! Her colleagues at reception took time to give directions to the places we wanted to visit. Housekeeping was outstanding in that its staff took the extra step to track down some sachets of Breakfast Tea for us although the herbal infusions were the norm at this hotel. We enjoyed the buffet spread at breakfast which was varied and generously laid out. The extra offers of eggs Benedict or omelettes made to order were a lovely touch which we appreciated. Even the small things like having power outlets for charging phones at eye level and conveniently located next to the bedside tables made our stay special. This hotel is definitely well located as to be within a short distance of the Oslo Central Station and also the iconic places like the Opera House and Munch Museum. Buses and trams ply the routes just outside the hotel and the metro is but a stone’s throw so getting around was really easy. We thank the staff for our stay here for the start and at the end of our trip to Norway. A lovely way to finish an awesome 4 week holiday.…

We stayed for two nights and found it a haven after 4 flights in a row from the other hemisphere! First thing we did to shake off the jet lag was to hit the gym and the hotel's gym isn't one of those terrible places with a couple of bikes or a running machine and little else- it had proper weights, decent machines, cool lighting and a sauna. The feel of the hotel is both lux and minimalist. It is perfectly situated (although our taxi driver weirdly got lost finding it) and a walk to the Munch Museum and Opera House. The rooms had everything we needed and we loved the huge shower. Toiletries also top quality. It was really nice to have a room with a terrace that opened up to get some fresh air. The staff at breakfast were delightful and helpful. Food is fresh and it was so lovely to have real orange juice squeezed right there and decent espresso. The bar is amazing and the cocktails innovative and created with a real theatrical flair. We went to the bar each night to try something new before dinner. Would stay again when next in Oslo.…

We stayed here on two separate nights, five days apart. We booked standard double rooms since our visits were so short. On both occasions we found the hotel to be excellent, mostly exceeding expectations. The front desk experience was outstanding: staff were consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful. My partner “runs hot” and expressed concern about the room potentially being uncomfortably hot. The staff immediately arranged to have the room temperature lowered, and also had a fan sent up. The response was everything we could ask for: no argument, sympathetic, prompt and effective. (A good sleep was had by all.) One night we ate dinner at the hotel’s Atlas restaurant. We were seated promptly and received excellent service and a notably delicious meal. For example, the fettuccine Alfredo was prepared tableside, with care. The room was very comfortable and clean, albeit small compared (perhaps unfairly) to USA standards. The bathroom was well equipped and spacious. The whole hotel seemed modern, clean, and fully staffed. The breakfast setup was also outstanding, an amazing variety of food and beverages with lots of staff running about checking in with guests, refilling coffee and tea cups, etc. Oh, and the hotel is perfectly located across a plaza from the central train station, so it’s super easy to get to the hotel from the airport by train and back again (just a 23 minute train trip). Overall we were totally satisfied with our selection of this hotel for our lodging needs in Oslo. If we had smaller suitcases the compact room would haven’t been the slightest concern.…

The hotel has a nice decor. Specially the restaurant is very impressive. I had a small room, too small for my taste but that's what I paid for. Even though the room was small, I love that the bathroom was big, nice decor and extremely clean. The highlight of the room was the speakers installed in the ceiling of the room and bathroom with good sound. The gym is good. Enough for a good routine. The breakfast is super good. It's the highlight of the hotel. I don't know if all the rates in this hotel include a breakfast, but if not, definitely take it with breakfast. It was the highlight of my stay. Even though the location is super centric, I didn't like it that much. I prefer the area around the king's palace.

Great location, right by the train station, but quite. Great ambiance, and service. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. Wonderful breakfast, and rooms. We have found our home away from home in Oslo.

Loved location, immediately located outside side Oslo central stand close to both the Opera house and Munch Museum. Had deluxe loft w/balcony room, which was spacious, but not sure if worth paying extra. It’s located on the top floor and accessible by only 1 elevator which was already slow and made getting to room even slower. Big bathroom but didn’t really have any hooks to hang towels and bath robes. Interestingly they replaced all the towels even though some where still hanging. But replaced them with ones that were ripped. Expected more for a hotel at this price point. Still a nice hotel, would probably pick a different room next time.

We came back to Amerikalinjen after several visits in the past. As always we felt really welcomed, both by the receptionists and the upgraded room when we entered. A personal greeting, some sweets - Nice! Amerikalinjen makes you really feel appreciated as a guest. The service is great, facilities are clean and not worn down at all, rather the opposite. The sauna is a nice place to relax, the breakfast restaurant is nice, food is great and the personell really makes you fell welcome!

I chose this hotel because of the proximity to the train station, as I had an early train departure the following morning. It's in a fantastic area, safe and not only close to the station, there are a lot of restaurants, cafes, shops and activities nearby. The room is forgettable....I can't even picture it in my mind, so it wasn't great and it wasn't terrible. (The AC was fair, not really cool.) The bed was comfortable and the room was clean - I'd remember if it wasn't. Staff seemed to be a bit irritated at guests. Nothing overt, just a general feeling like they were trying their best to not snap. Breakfast is included, but when I was asked what time I'd like to go and I said I'd not be able to because I had an early train, they offered to make a little picnic breakfast for me, which I thought was really nice.…

Excellent stay from before arrival throughout the entire stay. The location is perfect and the rooms are beautiful with the most comfortable beds. This was our last location on a Scandinavian visit to all three countries. We ended on a high note as this hotel exceeded our expectations. Thank you!
