As many other reviews will tell you, this is still a clean, friendly hotel which offers good value for basic services at a moderate price. The hotel has saunas and a nice little pool with warmer than usual water, which is especially nice after winter excursions. Remember to bring your swim suite. Swimming cap is mandatory, but can be borrowed in the reception. The hotel has a large patio with a wonderful vista of the city and the mountains behind. This was not cleared of snow, so not in use when we visited in February. In summertime it must be a very nice place to relax and enjoy the view. The hotel itself sits on a hillside overlooking the same vista, but only a few rooms actually have a view. Sadly the signature top floor breakfast room with panoramic views mentioned in many reviews is no longer in use, and not available to hotel guests at all. Breakfast is now limited to a bag with ingredients for a continental breakfast that can be bought at the reception.

Booked this hotel because of the sauna. We were informed that the sauna is available in limit time, and later the week the male part is out of service. The staff tried to help that we can use the female part when no one is there, for example after 8 pm while we had other activities booked. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the town. In a bad weather with slippery road, it’s not very pleasant.

My room had a great view. The place was clean and warm. It is located a 10 min walk to the center. On each floor you can find a kettle and tea/coffee, so you make yourself a hot beverage. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Tiny room, no space to separate beds into a twin. 15 min Walk uphill away from most tours etc but lovely staff and plenty of tea and warm communal lounge space. Pool not open during our stay (mon-fri).

Good value for the money (at that time it was the cheapest place in Tromsö and they have a pool, although you can only use it limited times) but the situation in a hospital and house for the elderly needs a bit getting used to. Not much of service but basically friendly staff, didn't try the (expensive) breakfast, rather went to really nice coffee places downtown, which is a 10-15 minutes walk. The room was small but sufficient, nice and clean, there are tea and coffee facilities in the living zones of the floors.
