We were moved here from their sister hotel, which were boasting quite different qualities, so the disappointment might show through. However: cleaning was rudimentary; they also took our towels away without providing new ones, we had to find a room in the basement where there was a cupboard, no towels larger than hand towels available though. The elevator and halls had a stench of old frying fat (luckily not in the room). Poor view from the room (especially since our original booking had 'city view'). The front desk was deserted at all times, had to call them, sometimes waiting several minutes, if we needed anything. I'd categorize this as a small step up from a hostel, little more.
We arrived at Enter Tromso and checked in quickly. The process was very smooth, however when we arrived at the room, the key card did not work. Considering that the reception had a separate entrance where one had to walk outside of the warm, it was quite problematic as we had to go through this process multiple times due to the keycard not working. They had to change our room three times before the keycard finally worked for the room. The room was compact as expected but had everything we required. It is one which is self-service where there is coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the room and refilled on your own from the laundry room. The towels are available in the laundry as well for you to make your own change. We stayed in the room for five nights and there was no cleaning at all. We cleaned on our own instead and heading to the laundry to change the towels. We chose this hotel due to their self-service laundry and dryer available. We utilised it and it was relatively available on most times when we required it. There was laundry powder available for free as well. There were drying racks available in the laundry as well for one to take it up the room to utilise. The location of this hotel is good where we could pretty much walk everywhere. The restaurant which was next to the hotel was really good where there were discounts when one showed them the hotel's keycard. The kitchenette allowed us to cook and saved heaps considering the high cost in Tromso. There was a supermarket near the hotel as well to do any groceries. On our last day, we managed to store our luggage at the hotel and the reception assisted us in calling for a taxi when we needed one. Overall, it was a good stay here in Tromso.…
We had booked into their sister city hotel, and paid for 2 nights with breakfast On arrival at our booked hotel we were told we were being moved to this place instead, due to corona virus quarantine We made our way here, and were presented with a paper from city council, to advise us we were now under 14 day quarantine. We could go out now to buy groceries, but then had to stay in our room. We were shocked, and quickly went to shop as it was getting late Once in our room, we were disappointed. Very basic layout- bed was pushed against the wall, no views, no power point in kitchen?! To boil the kettle we had to put a suitcase on a chair and drag it over to the power point. Later that afternoon we saw a note on the elevator advising tourists to go home. We asked at front reception about bus routes to the airport from here. His response was to not look us in the eye and say he didn’t know about the bus. Really?! We received information that Norway was closing its borders at 8am Monday - this being Sunday. We left for the airport but asked reception to hold our room as we might need it if flights were canceled. His response was that he “might be able to”. We reminded him that we had already paid for a second night, and still had not seen the breakfasts we had paid for! We left a bunch of groceries, and beers behind in our rush to leave the country. An hour after we got to the airport we were phoned to ask if we were actually leaving. We advised him we would not be needing our room that night after all. Therefore they could rebook the room, and double their money, as no refund would be forthcoming... Whilst the government regulations were not the fault of this hotel, their treatment of visitors during very upsetting circumstances left a lot to be desired. …
Excellent location, perfect for everywhere in walking distance. We stayed in a double room with kitchenette, very small but considering we were so busy in and out it was fine. We stayed 5 nights and cooked for 4 of those, local supermarket up the road with good prices. Staff on reception were very helpful and knowledgeable, if you have any questions they will help you the best they can. The laundry room is an excellent idea, washers, dryers, cleans towels, bedding, clothes racks, brilliant if you need to wash or freshen up some clothes. Would stay here again as really reasonable price compared to other hotels in the area.
We chose this hotel because of the location, kitchenette and price. With the cost of everything in Tromso being so high, we just needed a place to rest and prepare our own breakfast (and one dinner out of four nights) between all the activities we had organised. In addition, as we were staying over new year's, this made Enter Tromso even more appealing. We would happily stay here again.
