We had a adequate room, nicely furnished & decorated, with a good connected twin-bed & poor pillows, desk & chair, 2 club-chairs , open wardrobe, large TV on the wall, fridge, iron & ironing board, safe, coffee & tea facility. Windows can be opened. The bathroom had washbasin, shower and toilet. All was very clean.
A very good breakfast buffet is served with a fine variety: freshly made eggs, bacon & sausages, cold cuts & cheeses, smoked salmon, bread & toast, cereals, fresh fruit, milk & yoghurts, freshly pressed orange juice, rolls & croissants, fruit juice & preserves, water, coffee & tea.
We found Hotel Thon Nordlys a nice accommodation. Recommended.
Bodø offers so much cafeterias, restaurants and an incredible sea view with the typical Scandinavian sky you imagine only in old school paintings.
The hotel helped me book a trip on Saltstraumen with boat when I was there last summer and with bus this last time I was there. Since it is winter now, it was quite cold outside so instead of going to Saltstraumen again I chose to rest at hotel after a visit at the library, which was a very good experience. The library itself offer both Litterature, movies and Art, and displays one of the biggest Manga cartoon sections I've ever seen in Norway. A must for youth!
Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of foods to choose from. (Scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, salmon, pickled herring, variety of cheeses, variety of bread, variety of yoghurt, cereal, fruits, sliced courgettes, sliced capsicum, variety of jams, cookies, muffins, and more.)
To get to the hotel from the airport, get on Bus #1 or Bus #2 at the airport and get off at bus stop Bodø sentrum. Walk towards the harbor and in about 5 to10 minutes the hotel should be on your left. Go to website reisnordland.no for the bus timetable and current bus fare. You can pay the bus driver using credit card.
Another option is to walk from the airport to the hotel. There are signs that will direct you on how to get from the airport to Bodø’s waterfront. The walk takes about 15 to 20 minutes but I wouldn’t suggest this option if you have luggage. The sidewalks are not perfectly smooth so the baggage wheels may get worn down.
The hotel is great with a sensationally good breakfast.
I had a Superior Double with sea view first night, then on return from the Lofoten Islands they gave me a free upgrade to a corner room and I photographed the northern lights out the window.
Rooms and Facilities:
My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The decor was modern and appealing, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. I appreciated the amenities that were available, including a well appointed bathroom and practical appliances.
Service:
The staff at the Thon Hotel were exceptionally friendly and professional. They were always available to answer questions and accommodate any needs I had. Check-in and check-out went smoothly and I felt really valued as a guest.
Food:
The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious. I enjoyed both the breakfast and other meals I had there. The selection was impressive and the quality of the food was first class.
Location:
The location of the Thon Hotel was convenient, with easy access to public transportation and local attractions. I appreciated the proximity to various shops and restaurants.
Conclusion:
All in all, my stay at the Thon Hotel was a very positive experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers and look forward to staying there again on future occasions.
The room was tired and the bed not the best, but worked for me. Now there will be new rooms, I have seen, so the next time I come it will probably be both a new bed and a new room. They also have their own restaurant in the house, Egon, but I recommend going straight past that place, because in Bodø there are places where they have chefs with a passion for food.
"You can walk there from the airport, no really close bus stop. Egon restaurant is attached, but the hotel has its own restaurant too. "Read full review
