Stasjonen Hotel occupies the upper floors of the old train station of Lillehammer, the perfect location for those travelling by train like me. The reception is right in the station hall, next to the cafe, then you access rooms with a lift. The whole place is simple, it's probably thought for people who stay there for a couple of nights only and are looking for something bargain. Rooms are indeed small, with no frills (not even tv), but new, clean and well heated in winter. My window was facing rails, but I wasn't bothered by noise. I just would have liked a couple of shelves for my stuff instead of the hangers, being the space few I had to leave everything into my luggage. Overall I had a positive experience and I will consider this hotel again for a future visit to Lillehammer.

We stayed overnight on our way further up the country. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The setting is novel (being in a train station) and interesting. The room was clean, a good size and en suite - the shower was good. Food wise we had dinner in the restaurant which was very good. Tasty and large portions! Breakfast was a very good choice of bread, meat, fruit, cereal etc which set us up for the day. All in all a lovely place to stay, and a very convenient pit stop if you are travelling through!

On our way to Hafjell but stayed overnight Sat 6th April. Arrived on train from Oslo airport and hotel really is a station hotel! Straight in off the train and met by very helpful check in man. Room very clean and quiet. Excellent breakfast in the morning. Would recommend this hotel as clean, convenient and good value. Would happily stay again

This was about the cheapest place to stay in Lillehammer when I booked. It certainly exceeded my expectations by far. We stayed in the family room. "Medicine sans frontiers". This was two single beds and a bunk bed. Check in is in the cafe of the train station, and the rooms themselves are above the waiting area. All the staff we met were really friendly. I didn't include breakfast when I booked as I wanted to keep my options open, however if you are a guest then you can buy a continental breakfast at a reduced rate of 70kr. A fairly standard breakfast, but for the price it was great value for money. Our room was overlooking the bus stops, there was some noise one night from some young people getting off a bus, but didn't bother us, in fact it was nice hearing happy people, and didn't last long. Room was modern with a shower and TV, beds were comfortable. With it actually being a hostel there was a nice kitchen to use, with two sets of hobs, an oven and fridge freezer and fridge. It's not too far to walk to the Kiwi supermarket in the main shopping street if you want to cook yourselves. It's location is great for the town centre and obviously transport. If we return, we would look to stay here again. I would stay here again if I cam back

There are two aspects that really make this hotel a great place to stay: the wonderful staff, and its location (as the name suggests, on the rail station and right next to the bus station, and just 2 minutes walk onto the main street). Buses will take you to Susjoen and Nordseter (but there are only a few a day so plan carefully). The rooms themselves are basic but clean and fine for a short stay. There is a great restaurant that has good value meals (for Norway) and a great breakfasts (despite previous comments on here). You also get a 10% discount on meals and free coffee during the day. But the staff really make it special - highly recommended and thanks for a great stay!
