On the world-famous Ringstrasse Viennese elegance triumphantly returns with Florian Weitzers "Grand Ferdinand". Here tradition is not about looking back, it is about celebrating forward, inspired by the idea of recapturing an era in Vienna in which nothing was more meaningful than life itself. With 186 gorgeous rooms including four suites and one Grand Suite, a refreshing outdoor rooftop pool (23 degrees) and 3 incredible restaurants the Grand Ferdinand is ready and delighted to charm its guests from different cultures and places all over the world. The inspiration comes from the passionate and experienced hotelier Florian Weitzer. With an eye for architectural treasures. This basis is what gives the Grand Ferdinand its unique and elegant charm: That a noble and modest building from the early 1950's transforms into an extraordinary hotel that reflects Vienna's rich cosmopolitan history in the present.

    What a good surprise!
Recommended by a viennese lawyer. Quite special for a city centre hotel. Lovely small outdoor pool on the 8th floor with a fabulous breakfast room and breakfast Great restaurant on the strreet. Fair value rooms a bit small. Warm reception from Jessica marina and Julia even after we had checked out. No complaints and we will be back.

Good location. Not a grand hotel.
So firstly it’s important you know that we visited at a difficult time, when the Hotel was dealing with fast changing directives on how to handle the corona virus. So while we found this hotel disappointing and can’t recommend it, some of it might have been down to this. The reception is round a corner, it’s small and the staff concentrated on trying to get us to upgrade and pay more rather than welcome us and explain facilities. We did upgrade but it wasn’t worth it. The bedrooms are ok. The toilet is a separate room within the bedroom but the sink is in the bedroom. The shower is also separate but in the bedroom. The toiletries smell nice but no conditioner for hair. They do provide a hair dryer!! Slippers and a robe too. They provide two single duvets on a double bed. They don’t do a turn down service which we did expect from a 5* hotel. The coffee machine was broken in our room and never got replaced. So we didn’t have the best experience of our welcome nor the room. I’d say though the worst thing was the lack of information and care. No one took the time to tell us what was going on, to proactively help us. The bar was shut but we weren’t told. When we got back down to the reception, we were offered a seat in the restaurant but they could only do wine or beer. We got told by the receptionist that there was a sign telling us & she showed us it but it only mentioned the restaurant. We asked about food and were told the roof top bar was now closed so only the downstairs restaurant was open but that they weren’t sure if they could keep it open. Not great reassurance when you’re a guest and in a foreign country. We heard her tell another couple, that foreigners would just have to go home if the hotel closed. So in summary, I would suggest there is a nicer, more welcoming hotel round the corner you might like to consider!! It serves great coffee, amazing cake and has a lovely place to sit and relax! Staff that welcomed us!
Dear Hyacinth03, thank you very much for taking the time to share this detailed feedback with us! First of all I would like to say thank you for choosing our hotel as your accomodation. As you already mentioned, your visit was at a difficult time where we all had to deal with this situation. The situation regarding the corona virus was really fast changing every day so I apologize if there was a lack of communication and information regarding our restaurants. I am also really sorry that we did not meet your expectations with our room. Please note that we offer different amenities as hair conditioner for free at the front desk. Our front office team is available 24hours and we can always assist you if something is not working properly in the room. Once again thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us! We are doing our best to handle the current situation! Kind regards from Vienna, Nina Prinz Assistant Front Office Manager

Good hotel, but room for improvement
The hotel has a perfect location. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. The rooftop bar is a scoop and a very nice spot in the summer. The pool is small but good for Instagram. The comfort rooms are nice, but the light in the room can only be controlled by a switch that turns all lights on or off. You can´t turn them on individually. At this price you expect that when you order a cup of coffee you also get a piece of chocolate, when you order a drink you expect some peanuts or little snack. Here you get no extras. A drink costs 14 euros. At the price level you also expect body lotion and conditioner for free. There is only a chep looking plastic dispenser with all in one body and hair shampoo. The breakfast at 30 euros is not overwhelming. Everything is ok, but you only get one sort of juice served, and the buffet is not large. You can order very good egg dishes. The hotel only has two main elevators who are quite small. The very limited capacity is not what you expect from af 5 star hotel. All in all Ferdinand is a great hotel, but there certainly is room for giving the visitors a little something extra to top it of.
Good Morning from the Grand Ferdinand Vienna, thank you very much for sharing your experience with us! We hope that you had an unforgettable time here in this city. Furthermore I am really thankful about your feedback because it is always helpful to improve ourselves. Please note that it is possible to turn on the bedside lamp individually. We also have a few amenities, as conditioner, available for free at the front office. Our front office team is available 24 hours to assist you in such a situation. Once again I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review! We will do our best to provide an excellent experience for all our guests. With kind regards, Nina Prinz Assistant Front Office Manager

Grand Ferdinand is a wonderful place, of course Vienna is good at architecture and the location is off the charts. But what makes Grand Ferdinand so wonderful is the people. The director is a display of gentle profession and kindness and the team at the "Grand Etage" (rooftop!) is just a gem! Can really recommend!

I hade already review Grand Ferdinand Hotel. But I could not let be to mentioned what happened to us on our check out. I had by misstake, put a 100 Euros on my bed sheets which got then hidden by it and of course forgotten in the room. The cleaning service came in to clean the room and wondered if that should be a tipping or not and left the bill on an envelope at the reception. That was given back to us at our check out. I thought it was amazing of the service room responsible for our room and would like to praise the hotel for employing such great personel. Many many thanks!

We had a standard room. Very nice and clean. The shower is inside the room. I could do without that. The amenities are ok. We asked for a kettle but it came quickly. The room to the street has insulated windows. Perfect! Very very quiet. I do recommend the hotel. Try different breakfasts at different cafes and do not book it through the hotel. Vienna has so many nice cafes and cheeper than the one at the hotel.

We booked a stay here with booking.com however we were unable to complete the booking. The ‘pay’ link sent by the hotel did not work, which we informed them of via email. This meant we could not verify our credit card - which they stated was to help provide security. We heard nothing and assumed our stay had not been booked. We received no confirmation of our booking and having read the small print of the ‘pay’ link, felt satisfied that we’d not entered into an agreement with the hotel. On the day of our should-have-been reservation, they charged our credit card for the entire amount. I contacted them by email and received one reply which blamed booking.com. Booking.com blame the hotel, saying they are refusing a refund. As far as I’m concerned, they’ve taken a payment without my authority and have no interest or care in understanding what has gone wrong. I have raised a dispute with booking.com and my credit card company. Avoid trying to book this hotel at all costs.

A fabulous 6-day stay in the luxurious Grand Ferdinand was an excellent choice for our first trip to Vienna. The Reception staff were so helpful and the Breakfast team couldn’t do enough to cater to our needs. The room was lovely…bed so comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for more. Keep up the great work GF! We will definitely see you again soon!

We stayed for 4 nights at the Grand Ferdinand. We had booked a better room so I can use Nespresso coffee machine. Our room was spacious, hair dryer in our room was large and very effective (far better than other hotels). There was no tea making facilities (for my wife) in the room, but apart from that we were very happy with the room. The food at breakfast was exceptional. The breakfast manager was always helpful and happy. The swimming area and sitting outside was perfect as we could sit outside for breakfast (and evening meal). We were happy to use the 3 restaurants, and one gets booked very quickly so try and book it early on the ground floor. On our wedding anniversary the restaurant was already booked up, but the young lady manager managed arranged us a table, for which we are very grateful. I found the staff very good and had no complaints at all.

A nice hotel in Vienna, the staff were all very nice and approachable. The room was very small - not what I was expecting for £200 a night. The mini bar was very expensive for what they were offering and the toiletries were cheap and not good for your hair- left it very dry. The hairdryer in the room is very cheap and not good, it would have taken me at least half an hour to dry my hair, so I didn’t bother. No tea or coffee facilities in the room either. The staff were the best thing about this hotel. We probably would find a nicer hotel with better quality facilities in the room if we came back to Vienna.
