This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.

This is a little gem hidden in the city centre. With clean facilities,a great breakfast, this is a place you really need to visit. The General Manager went out of his way to make my stay a memorable one, and I saw him taking time to speak to other guests also. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff including Stefan and Phillip. Great bus links to the NaschMarkt and Opera House, and only around 30 mins from the airport, 10 mins from the train station. Great stay and cant wait to return.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Expecting basic amenities it exceeded expectations. Easy to find & close to the metro. Check in simple. Our room was on the second floor & it was spacious, clean & comfortable. There was a TV, small mini bar, fridge & safe. Beds fairly comfy & we slept well - not much noise. You can control the room temperature & open the window. Plenty of plug sockets. Bathroom big, great decor, clean & great shower. Breakfast €9 pp per day. Good value. Decent options - hot & cold food, breads, pastries, fruit, cereal - was enjoyable & enough for vegetarians. In the room was an iPhone you could take out to help with navigation/sightseeing. Great idea. Friendly, helpful staff. WiFi was poor except in reception. Free ATM in Spar - 1min walk. Great place to stay, especially if on a budget. Location was ok - 15/20mins easy walk into town or metro was 5mins walk - line U4. We got a public transport card for 72hours at €17. To airport get U4 metro to Landstraße/Wien Mitte train station & take the S7 train to airport at €4.20. CAT train is €12 & takes about 7mins less. Other recommendations: Veggiezz restaurant, Burg Ring 1 restaurant, Cafe Central in the evening, Mozart cake in Aida, Beethoven Museum, Belvedere Gardens, Opera at the Opera House, city views from the cathedral.

My husband and I really enjoyed our time in this hotel. It is small, quiet and cozy, the staff is friendly, the rooms spacious, bright and clean, the breakfast was modest but of excellent quality. It is near the metro so we would be in the city center in about 10 minutes, so the location is also good. It has lovely inner courtyard, unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy it.

+++ Warm and friendly atmosphere ++++ Every staff member was polite and a joy to be around. They speak perfect English and are very understanding of requests and always aim to help. + Rooms were pretty large for the price + Fairly priced mini-bar ++++ A one-minute walk away from the nearest bus stop (13A), and a 5-minute walk away from the nearest metro station + Breakfast tastes great! High-quality food ++ Coffee machine was available 24/7 for free. It also makes hot chocolate and tea. Loved it. ++ Room and bathroom were super clean The negatives are only small gripes. Really, they do not matter much and I am only including them to highlight how much you have to dig to find something not to like about this hotel: - Breakfast selection did not change every day. Still it was pretty large and it only got a bit boring on our last day, and we stayed for 9 days! For shorter stays it should not be a problem at all - Wifi cuts out sometimes. Still with the excellent 4g coverage in Austria I just had to switch to that for a few seconds and it would usually be back soon enough That's it. Loved everything else about this place. I usually love trying new things all the time, but if I were going back to Austria, I'm pretty sure I would stay with this hotel again! :)

Just returned from a four night stay. Had a great time. Hotel is very well situated bus stop almost outside and few mins walk from station. Although there isn't a kettle etc in room there's drinks machine in lobby for use anytime, hot chocolate delicious. Breakfast buffet good especially the scrambled eggs and breads. Room modern and clean. Mobile phone for use whilst there was very useful. The staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome. Overall our stay was a very pleasant experience.
