I would like to thank you the whole team at the Ritz Carlton Vienna for the beautiful stay but most of all for the special caring! Special thanks to Raphael, Rita, Alejandro, Sanzhar and Oliver for the professional, smiley and delicate attentions!
I stayed in the Ritz-Carlton in Vienna for just under 3 months (89 days to be precise from April – July 2022). I work as a virtual lawyer and needed a change of environment from which to work and also recover from a medical condition that I'd developed due to an accident. I choose to visit Vienna as it is one of my favourite cities in the world and knew that I couldn’t go wrong with the Ritz-Carlton. Being a long-stay guest meant that I was able to gain a real insight into how the hotel operated in various instances (including when it was at peak capacity, had several conferences and also when an alarm went off in the hotel and a fire brigade had to attend temporarily to investigate). You also really get to know each and every individual that works in the hotel – from the doorman, concierge, front desk, restaurant staff, housekeeping , gym/spa and maintenance – and you get to learn about their backgrounds, motivations and sometimes even the challenges that they face and how they are working through them. My experience overall at the Ritz-Carlton was very good and I have no hesitation in recommending it and returning in the future. Firstly, I have to mention Olga that manages several functions and forms a part of the management team. From the moment that I arrived and up until the end of my stay, Olga was extremely welcoming, attentive and helpful in every possible way – 24/7. Prior to working as a virtual lawyer, I used to work as a journalist and have experience of reviewing several hotels including those in “The Leading Hotels of the World” and it’s rare to come across someone that manages a team and works like Olga. She works extremely hard and has always appeared very calm under pressure which instils confidence in others – whether it be her team or guests (e.g., when the fire brigade had to arrive in the weekend and Olga returned to work after 20:00 to manage everything with her team). There are several other staff that make a wonderful impact at the Ritz-Carlton, and I only wish that I had written down each name to mention it in this review, but for now I’ll include some of the staff that I interacted with regularly: Eddy, Norman, Adrian, Lilly, Jury, Tamara, Georgi, Ellen, Amjet, Samuel, Lanka and Adrianna. Whatever one sought, the staff at the Ritz-Carlton did everything that they could to make it happen. For example, I was cold – they gave me a heater. I like chocolates – they gave me different types each day. I wanted to heat my take-out – they brought me a microwave. I wanted some electronic adapters – they immediately gave me three. I wanted housekeeping and the turndown service to come at certain times – they made it happen. Secondly, I have to highlight how the rooms and suites within the Ritz-Carlton are truly stunning. My parents came to stay for a few days as did my best friend and I have had a chance to see the different room categories and have to admit that they are some of the largest of rooms that I’ve seen in Vienna (especially the suites). I was in a suite with a balcony which was facing the front of the hotel and it was one of the most stunning rooms that I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. The high ceilings, large windows, enormous bathroom (with bathtub and rain shower), walk in wardrobe, table/desk for working and the lounge / seating area were perfect. It was phenomenal. The balcony enhanced the experience even more as there were several events including marathons and parades that passed by the hotel. Thirdly, the restaurants and other areas in the hotel are immaculate and more than functional. If you want an excellent breakfast with fabulous service, the Dstrikt is the place to go, if you want to have a leisurely dinner with some interesting entertainment (including a live artist drawing and painting on a gigantic canvas) Pastamara has your name on it, if you want to experiment with cocktails and the D-Bar is super cool and has to be on your list. The Atmosphere Rooftop bar was pleasant and had some nice views (some of which can be enjoyed partially by those staying in rooms on the 7th floor). My favourite parts of the public areas of the hotel had to be concierge (especially Eddy who is truly a wonderful person), the Dstrikt (due to all of the staff) and the spa/gym. When I am in London (my main base), I train in the gym at least 5-6 times a week, so it was super important to me to stay in a hotel that had the best type of equipment including freeweights and machines. While the Ritz-Carlton has a small gym, it has the key equipment that one would want to use including freeweights (from 1kg up - 25+ kg), several mats, two benches, cross trainers, treadmills, machines for your upper body (including rowing and chest press). All the equipment is state of the art and the majority of which is from the Technogym brand – which is brilliant. I even managed to do a good weightlifting session in the mornings and a virtual dance class in the evenings from the gym. It should be noted though that for hotel standards, the gym would probably be considered a good size (and its only because I use so many commercial gyms that I call it “small”)! The spa area incudes sauna/steam room (within the changing rooms), a swimming pool that plays music underwater and a number of treatment rooms. The treatment rooms are gorgeous, and the therapists are awesome and really make you feel special. I would totally recommend visiting the spa and booking treatments there. To be transparent, I have to admit that there were a few issues during my stay (e.g., an item that I ordered for room service didn’t arrive as it should have or a staff member accidently knocked on my door when the ‘do not disturb sign’ was on). However, the abundance of positives of the experience significantly outweighs those infrequent issues and importantly, I was and am very impressed with the speed at which staff apologised and remediated any issues. I also recognise that being a long-stay guest can mean that you’re prone to see so much including experiencing the episodic mistake by staff that are tirelessly trying to please you and everyone else. You could argue that as this is the Ritz-Carlton, mistakes should not happen at all? However, in light of the fact that the hospitality industry is trying to resurrect itself after Covid-19 and Vienna is facing a shortage of staff for this area, it’s understandable that there may be a few kinks that need to be occasionally ironed out. It’s all about how efficiently the iron operates – and I’m confident that the management at the Ritz-Carlton with Olga is capable in ensuring that the infrequent issues that I faced become non-existence. There are very few hotels that I have become like a second home to me and well, before this trip, there was only one place: Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa in Mombasa. Now, I’m pleased to add the Ritz-Carlton in Vienna to this list, and would return without any doubt! Thank you to all the staff at the Ritz-Carlton that made my stay a real pleasure.…
Loved my stay at the Ritz. Super fancy and elegant. The room was comfy and spacious. The staff there goes above and beyond. I plan on staying there again. You can’t miss it if you’re coming from the CATz it’s about a good 15 min walk from the stations.
Just checked in after a looooonnng flight so we haven’t even slept here yet but had to write a review. Our pick up from the airport, which was arranged by the hotel, was flawless. Excellent driver and car! The hotel staff did everything in their power to get us a room as soon as possible since we had been awake for almost 24 hours. The club level service and food was wonderful. Our room is very spacious, in great condition and very clean. Loved all the amenities available especially for a long distance traveller who doesn’t want to bring all the comforts and conveniences of home. The concierge was exceedingly informative and kind. The service here is simply wonderful!!! Bravo to all the ladies and gentlemen !! Great location as well.
Just outstanding!! From Rita at the Club lounge to Simon at the bar, we had an amazing 6 days at the Ritz. The service is impeccable. The location is perfect. The ladies and gentleman of the Ritz were amazing. We will definitely come back! There is no better place to stay!! Thank you so much for making this a wonderful week.
This hotel is in a perfect location for sightseeing and the concierge is excellent. They were able to help book restaurants and excursions all via email in advance of our trip. We had one tiny hiccup that the team addressed immediately. The rooms are a little dated but they are fully equipped and the linens are new. Highly recommend.
I definitely do not recommend room 716. One-third of the room was not usable due to the slanted ceiling and it was comparable to a college dorm room. The room certainly did not look anything like any of the published photos. They offered to move us, but we had already unpacked and my daughter was showering. It was basically ok, but I didn't expect to be in a room that was less comfortable than a pedestrian motel. We paid for a package that came with breakfast. I called in the morning to ask what the procedure was and was told I could eat in the restaurant or order anything from the breakfast menu for the room. The next day, I called to ask about the breakfast charges on our bill and they apologized and said they will get them removed. I called again a few days later, and was told the same thing. When I checked out, I asked about the breakfast charges again and was told that I was supposed to have eaten somewhere in the hotel (I was still unsure where). The manager came out to coldly inform me that since she could not "prove" anything, she would remove the breakfast charges - which at this point I didn't even care about. Had I known it was going to be such a public ordeal, I would not have even mentioned it.…
The hotel staff more than made up for the aging hotel which will need some updating very soon. Great location and concierge was “spot on” with his dinner selections. One small beef- we checked in (my wife and I) as a couple yet they only provided 1 welcome drink in their bar. Wasn’t worth bringing up and based on their attentiveness on other issues I am confident they would have accommodated the request. Great roof top bar and a must visit if you stay there- great view of the City and the contrast of new and old buildings is visible from the roof top. Bed was very comfortable although for a US person the operations of the lights is a challenge and that was for all hotels we stayed at over 12 days in Europe (Germany and Austria).
Great hotel and the room was fantastic and spacious with a large balcony. The 2 things that lets it down is the breakfast service which just seems a bit disorganised , staff looking very stressed and one day was offered a breakfast menu and the next day I didn’t. Had to ask for coffee on numerous occasions on both days. Also the staff are very efficient but not one came across personable or helpful.
Our recent stay at Ritz Carlton, Vienna was beautiful! The staff in the “club lounge” on floor 7 were attentive, polite and helpful. Especially Rita!!! Rita arranged concert tickets and restaurant reservations for us. In particular she recommended an authentic Italian restaurant Cucina Cipriano (Rita is Italian so ….) that you MUST visit. The lounge itself was an oasis for us to rejuvenate in between sightseeing expeditions (it was very hot). The offerings were excellent and we had a light meal there ahead of concerts if time did not permit a restaurant visit. We certainly felt the extra cost of the Club Lounge was well worth it. The room itself was excellent, typical for a Ritz property.
