This is an excellent hotel, which though re-furbished (presumably recently), has not been Huyatised, or Hiltonised, or Marriotised -- in other words, it has large, welcoming rooms in the old tradition, with full amenities - including body lotion, slippers, bathrobe, vanity set and so on. This may seem surprising to mention but so many hotels are dispensing with these essentials, that hotels that keep them score with me. . The staff were friendly if not always efficient or knowledgeable and the wi-fi system was very erratic but I am not sure whether this is their fault or the provider's fault. The bar was somewhat empty in the evenings, which is a pity. But the location is marvellous - you can walk to the Albertina or the Opera or the famous Stephanplatz - within 5 minutes and it has plenty of places to eat around. I should really rate it a little lower but I had such a pleasant stay there that it would be unfair to do so.…
A family member found this hotel for seven of us and it was a brilliant choice for location. What was nice was they gave us the four rooms all together in a side wing and all the rooms were really large. We had a large separate lounge area which led to the bedroom and a lovely bathroom. The only thing I missed was tea/coffee making facilities, there was cups in the cupboard but that was it. We opted to have room only rather than bed and breakfast as we felt it was pricey and wouldn't really get value for money as we would have to eat quite a lot to get your moneys worth and some of us eat light first thing. We are glad we made this decision as literally two minutes from the hotel door is an excellent place where it suits all requirements serving hot breakfasts, fresh fruit and yogurts, cereal, croissants etc and very reasonably priced. We had planned to eat at different venues each morning but as this suited us all so well we ate there everyday except one day it was closed due to a national holiday there but there are plenty of places close by. If we go back I would do the same again this hotel and eat out for breakfasts. …
This hotel must have one of the best locations in Vienna. Just a few minutes walk from St Stephen's cathedral and with a door onto the pedestrianised Karntner Strasse, but with very little of the traffic noise you'd expect from a city centre site. The service is also excellent, especially in the bar, which is impressively grand, but also a comfortable and welcoming place to relax.
Great location, nice and spacious room, breakfast was very good with lots of different options. Unfortunately, I forgot my make up bag in the room after checking out ( totally my fault ), called them up the same day and I’ve been told that they need to check with housekeepers and asked me to call back the following day. I called the hotel the next day when they told me that housekeeping department haven’t found anything. I understand that housekeeping department can keep stuff which was left behind by guests after a certain amount of time but I informed them the same day. Would have given 5 starts but I find this deeply disappointing. Workers are representing the company and the hotel management should make sure it doesn’t happen if someone leaves something in the room next time.
5-stars for the location of this hotel. You can't get much closer to the heart of Old Town Vienna. I could see the spire of St Stephen's cathedral from my hotel room. 5-stars for the beauty of this hotel inside and out. The hotel dates back to 1898 and has a classic baroque look and feel. They upgraded us from a standard room to a junior suite - thank you. However, housekeeping only changed the towels and re-made the bed every day; they did not clean the room. There was no coffee maker in the room. Guests receive an actual key, not a key card. I recommend greakfast. They had cavier and the coffee was great! The restaurant was not open for dinner. The bed was about as comfortable as to be expected in a hotel.
Excellent stay. Was upgraded on arrival, the room was so large and spacious. Excellent location central to everything. We didn't have breakfast but had a drink in the bar area which was nice. Staff were helpful, highly recommend this hotel!
Can not agree this is a 5 star hotel. The room furniture is extremely dated very old dark wood and not up to date with current needs such as usb ports, adaptable plugs or updated style. No tea or coffee facilities in the room but cups and saucer by fridge no idea why.. no kettle given so with a baby I had to go to reception every time to ask them to boil their kettle for hot water.. (thankfully staff were extremely helpful) 2 single beds put together to create to look of double but single quilt covers so you and your partner have to basically sleep separate. For ex cabin crew that has travelled around the world and can appreciate different countries have different standards but this can not be classed as 5 star for rooms anymore 3 star seems correct.. On the plus the staff plus location was great and is the main appeal to the property but competition is coming up in local area and this hotel needs to make a change or down grade to lower prices or upgrade rooms to compete with other hotels.…
It's located in rhe heart of Vienna. 2 minutes walking distance from Stephanplatz (metro). Many of the main attractions are within walking distance. All kind of transportation means are passing near and outside of the hotel. Our room was vary clean and the hotel areas in general. Wifi everywhere. The only negative was that they didn't offer a good variety of amenities, as expected for a 5 star hotel. There's a small bar outside of the hotel, on kartner strasse. It's worth to mention that they upgraded us in a junior suite. Overall, we had a very pleasant time.
Had booked this Hotel for the Easter break 2020 but then COVID happened. Hotel was very professional and helpful during this whole period and offered twice to reschedule the booking, even though it was done through booking.com. Very happy with the service. Welcoming friendly staff in the hotel at out final arrival. Rooms are spacious and clean. The style is what you would expect from a town like Vienna. Very classy. I would expect some more small extras (i.e. water boiler) in a 5 star hotel but all in all we really enjoyed the stay.
We have spent 6 days in Vienna in Ambassador Hotel! Unfortunately! We booked an appartment (room 604) which is a pretty ok appartment. Spatious and clean (with a useless loft on the top that you do not use because is hard to get there on some stairs), and a kitchinnette. The big problem that we faced is the fact that we needed an extrabed. They asked an additional 300 eur... guess for what: a prisson bed!!! The most uncomfortable bed that I have ever slept in!! A real ofense that this hotel can do for the clients! A shame, Hotel Ambassador, that when I told to the reception that this bed you put in room is an ofense, nothing happened! The reception guy didnt care at all! So I will never be back in this hotel because they dont care about the confort of their clients - they simply dont care! There are many other options in Vienna city center... so avoid the "I dont care about you - I need only your money" style of Ambassador hotel!…
