Stayed for 2 nights in a very small but clean room with its own bathroom. Mattress was lumpy and hard so our sleep wasn't the best. This wasn't helped by the street noise. The staff were polite but not over friendly and the office was only open at certain times. No payments by credit card, cash only which was a... More

My friend and I stayed at the Pension for a pleasure trip to Vienna. AMAZING place. The pension is ran by the cutest lady! Very attentive, and personally cleans the place herself! We checked in mid day after arriving on train from Salzburg. The pension is about a 10 minute walk from the train station. We did the walk with... More

We stay in lots of b&b/pensions and our room here was very small by any standard. No elevator so be sure you're in shape if you get rooms on 3rd floor as we did. The best part is the proximity to the metro stop - essentially outside your door. It was hot and windows open to a very busy main... More

Found the pension in Rick Steves' Austria/Tyrol guide book, and made reservations via email (written in my rusty German with the aid of the Google Translator). Emails returned promptly, in English, and were very clear in terms of rooms available, amenities, breakfast policy, and that payment was required in advance, in cash. Upon arrival at the Westbahnhof, took the U-bahn... More

We are 3 Vietnamese tourist who were referred to Hargita by another pensione in Vienna. We just walked in late evening on 6th October 2010 and had a short but warm welcome by the receptionist/owner. The room was clean with streetview, but it was quite quiet for a good night's sleep. We especialy enjoyed the convenient location of Hargita (close... More

My family of 5 stayed here for 2 nights (intending to stay 4). The rooms smelled strongly of cleaner that gave my wife a headache almost instantly. The coffee made both my wife and oldest daughter sick.

- We don't know where to start telling about our terrible experience. Every morning there were ladies on the staircase chainsmoking a big number of cigarettes that made it impossible to breath. - The male owner insisted that we pay cash, although he never mentioned this condition when we made the booking. he sounded threatening and totally unfriendly when he... Hello fellow travellers. If you are heading for Vienna and looking for a small, friendly, economy Pension (hotel/guesthouse) then head for the Hargita Pension just off the Mariahilfer Strasse (road). The hotel is about five minutes from the mainline Westbahnhoff station. You can take the URBAN (big blue signs) underground (U3 orange line) and get off at the Zieglergasse stop.... More

My wife and I were referred to the Hargita by friends who had stayed there in the past. We found it to be a surprisingly good value. The rooms were small, but clean and well-appointed. The bathroom was a little "tight," but it worked for the two of us. The staff were friendly and helpful. The somewhat seedy entrance way... More

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our two-night stay at Pension Hargita and we would stay there again if and when we return to Vienna. The place was quaint and cozy and it met our needs. Pension Hargita is within walking distance to the central station (about five minutes) and very easy to find upon our arrival. It was affordable, our... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
