The hotel is located in a nice and quiet neighborhood, only a few minutes walking distance from central attractions (Hofburg Palace, Natural History museum, historic center ) and public transportation. We used the tram system as well as the subway to go to other attractions . The hotel is and old stone building tastefully decorated with gorgeous modern art. The... More

I would echo all of the outstanding things people have said about this place with one caveat: the location is not ideal. The Spittelberg Quarter is, you might say, a little funky. Up and coming for young people but not quite there yet. The hotel is on a quiet street and safe but it's just not a very attractive or... More

This hotel was found and booked through the British Airways website and we never had a moment where we regretted our choice to stay at the Hotel Altstadt. Situated only a very short taxi-ride (or reasonable walk) from the central parks and main city attractions, it was quick and easy to get around and back at night. The Altstadt staff... More

I had only one night in Vienna, but the Hotel Alstadt made up for my short visit. Classic room with old wooden floors, large window with a great view and a wonderful breakfast. Very nice coffee, large couches and coffee table with fast wifi. I recommend this hotel. Its a bit out of the way, but very close to fast... More

We stayed for a week at the Hotel Aldtstadt and found it to be a great hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and very well appointed. The room we had faced the courtyard and was super quiet which we requested. The bed was comfortable so we were able to have a good nights sleep. The... More

I travel quite a lot, and it seems as if things never go quite perfectly… But over five perfect days and nights in Vienna, I discovered that the Hotel Altstadt is the exception to the rule. The Altstadt was built at the turn of the 20th-century as a combination mansion and showroom by a Viennese industrialist, and has served several... More

The Alstadt is a nice hotel within a short walking distance of good public transportation. The rooms were clean and nice but rather mundane as was the entire hotel. I was not feeling well during my stay at the hotel and that may have effected my overall opinions.

First, I must note the location of the hotel is not good, it is several unbecoming blocks from the center of the city. The hotel itself is non-descript, if the taxi driver had not known the location, we would not have found it. The rooms are spacious and unusually shaped, small foyer with your only wardrobe closet, leading to a large... More

Booked throught BA , looking for a last minute holiday in Vienna at a TA rated hotel. Stayed in a classic room at front (24?) and it was lovely. Room was bigger than Paris , smaller than Toronto , but big enough for us. Arrived hot and bothered but they gave us a welcome glass of water. Room was nearly... More

We stayed four nights in the Robert's Place suite in late August. It was extremely hot weather but luckily our suite was air conditioned. The staff were very helpful and friendly and made our stay very comfortable. We enjoyed staying in the Museum Quarter but the hotel is a bit out of the way for shopping. Public transport is very... Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
