Best hotel I ever stayed in.
This hotel's attention to detail and hospitality makes it the highlight of our Vienna visit. The former apartment building was renovated to be an art - lover's dream stay, each one of the sprawling hallways is distinctly artfully decorated, some with audio, making every exit and return a joyful experience. The spacious rooms (KING size bed) are uniquely designed and equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine and capsules, fresh apples, water, Malin and Goetz toiletries, and even a Marshall bluetooth speaker. Upon check in the most welcoming lady offered us infused water or champagne, gave us a card with a list of recommended restaurants - all were EXCELLENT with plenty of options for any kind of diet. Breakfast was included and was terrific - a selection of breads and pastries, cheese, meat, hot and cold cereal, fruits and veggies, yogurt etc. To that you could add your order eggs, coffee, and get a "shot of the day". Every day at 4pm they host a tea time with complimentary cake and a buffet of candy. which made coming back for a midday break from the intense heat a treat! It is 5 minutes walk from Museum Quarter, the train station and a 20 minutes walk to the music venue we were supposed to attend a concert at. Surrounded by great coffeeshops, stores and restaurants. I will definitely stay here again and again!
Thank you for taking the time to give us this very nice and detailed feedback. We are glad that you felt comfortable with us and hope to welcome you again soon. Barbara Hammerschmid-Kovar

    The most beautiful Boutique Hotel
I booked Hotel Altstadt two years previously ! For the Christmas markets to enjoy with friends. Unfortunately with the pandemic I had to change my girlfriends getogether for May 2022. It’s a family run hotel. The communication was fantastic . Always replied straight away , easy to organise transfers, restaurants etc . It was worth the wait! . I knew from the hotels website it was the one for my group. It did not disappoint . From the minute I walked in the door .The ambience, the smell, the decor . The smile at reception from Maximilian to Lia to name just a few. All staff in the hotel were excellent. At reception we were given a map and a card with recommended restaurants . It was very helpful .We were a group of 5 friends and all our rooms were beautiful . There was nothing I would change .Each room was so personal and lots of lovely little touches . The variety of breakfast in the beautiful dining room was so relaxing . The staff serving were all polite always a smile . Prosecco was a lovely touch with breakfast for anyone who likes bubbles early !Sadly I had no time for afternoon tea that was included in the room rate but heard it was lovely. The lounge in the evening for pre drinks was just perfect . I felt I went back in time where people actually stopped a while . Even though it seemed full it didn’t feel at all busy .It is a very quiet and calm Hotel . Perfect ! The art in the hotel is a must see to be appreciated .It’s also a great location 20 mins walk from the centre 20/30 mins drive from airport . So much to see and do . I have traveled to many cities , stayed in many Hotels i think this may have been my favourite. My friends also were very impressed with my choice . This hotel thought of everything. However do not take my word for it ! Go Stay there! I will be booking my next stay asap .

Excellent hotel with the most friendly and helpful staff
The hotel personnel went beyond and above to satisfy any request we had (e.g. last minute reservation for dinner on a busy night, reservation and recommendation for a concert), being geniously polite and friendly. The breakfast was really satisfactory, delicious and of great quality and variety. Included in the price was the afternoon tea/chocolate/desserts. The room was spacious, very clean, modern and we found little treats waiting for us every evening. The location of the hotel is very convenient (walking distance from the major sights and museums, very close to various public transportations, safe and quiet neighborhood). Overall it exceeded our expectations for a lovely stay in Vienna.
Dear chris-kouts, thank you so much for your kind review! I really loved to read those lines. :-) We are more than happy that we made your trip that special! Hopefully we see each other soon at the Altstadt! <3

We spent 3 days in Vienna on a business related trip. We really enjoyed the Hotel Altstadt, loved the bespoke bedrooms, fabulous breakfasts and its great city location. The complimentary afternoon tea and cakes is a lovely feature of the Hotel, as is the roof top terrace. We also found the staff to be very enthusiastic and friendly. The overall ethos is strong and very personable.

Our expectations were pleasantly exceeded, especially breakfasts including the specials, which were always delicious. We had no criticisms of the hotel in respect of our total stay. If we ever come back to Vienna, we would stay at Hotel Altstadt.

Do not go to this hotel! Had difficulty from the time of check in. Air conditioning did not work despite repeatedly discussing the issue with hotel staff they did not fix the problem. The first night of our stay, we were unable to turn out the lights unless we cut the power to the entire room. Needed the power for medical equipment, subsequently we tried to sleep with the lights on! Wooden floor was warped in several places and it caused repeated tripping during our stay. The only positive point of this hotel was the Wi-Fi worked well.

I love the Aldstadt. It's like a home away from home. Quiet, super comfortable and you will be well fed at breakfast and at afternoon tea. They also have cut crystal bowls full of jelly and boiled sweets which hark back to one's childhood...nostalgia always works. The artwork throughout the hotel is also worth spending time exploring. And you're no more than 15 mins walk from the city's most attractive buildings and destinations.

Hotel was about a ten minute walk to public transportation. Room location and long hallways a bit confusing. Changed rooms twice before we were satisfied, Each room is completely different.but hotel staff was more than willing to make us comfy and satisfied. Breakfast and tea time were both great.

We stayed at the Opera Suite. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, full of light through the tall windows, and with a vinyl player and a huge selection of opera and concert vinyl discs that we actually played during our stay. The staff in , literary, every position, was kind, smiley, and very welcoming. Excellent location, just a few minutes walk from the Museum Quartier. Very well selected breakfast with a local bread variety, fruits and daily specials. You definitely will go back again !!

Enjoyed my stay here. Room was very comfortable, with a nice view of the church across the street. A roomy desk and comfy easy chair, with a spotless bathroom rounded things off. Buffet breakfast was delicious and filling, with a wide variety of everything -- fruits, cheeses, cereals, breads, juices, more than I can list here. You can't go hungry here in the morning! Good location as well, just a 10-min. walk to the main art museum, and another 5 minutes from there to the Heldenplatz. Reception staff was attentive and efficient.

Our stay was perfect! Loved our beautiful room (the Opera Suite with stereo and vinyl albums galore) and the delicious breakfasts with made-to-order egg dishes and all the fantastic other items you’d want fresh and homemade. Location was easy, walkable to museums and mass transit. Really appreciated the kind hospitality and outstanding staff for excellent service. Clean and super quiet too.
