For couples a good choice. You have a stay with different art objects. Breakfast very delicious. A good location for Vienna. Beds, bedroom and furnitures very decorative. For weekend trips very advisible.

Stayed in this hotel as very central and very old. Great atmosphere and staff were very welcoming and good fun. They also have a great Resturant with lively service. All the meat which is well worth eating is from the owners cattle. Bit pricey but well worth it as a holiday treat.

We had never been to Vienna but were immediately and warmly welcomed by Melanie at the guest desk then thoughtfully toured around the salon and to our room. Everything was perfect from the rooms to our breakfasts to the tea and cake hour- comfy and homey yet chic. Cannot wait to stay there again!

Staying in Alstadt Hotel is like staying at your friend's Apartement. Homey and friendly. They can recommend you good restaurants as well and Ulrich is one of our favorite, it was just next door! The bed is soft (not recommended for the one has bad back. The location is not too bad if you don't mind to walk around 2km... More

A lovely arty hotel situated very close to the museum district. This area is great and I felt that I fully relaxed. My walking pace slowed as I relaxed in what is a quiet but lovely part of the city just a few minutes walk away from the throng of the tourist areas. Plenty of places to eat nearby and... More

Stayed here 3 nights with my mum. We had an overall wonderful and memorable experience here. We would definitely return! It is well located just 10 minutes walk from the major sites and palaces. It is outside the historic "Ring" so it is less touristy over here - filled with more locals and cool shoppes and restaurants more frequented by... More

What a fantastic quirky, interesting boutique hotel. An obviously old building with history beautifully converted in a sympathetic manner into a great hotel. I loved it!! The staff at the Altstadt were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, from everything to recommending local places to eat (to suit all budgets) to arranging taxis. Breakfast was amazing, the best I have... More

My partner really loved this hotel and particularly liked the (free) afternoon tea and cakes. He also loved the breakfasts and was much more amenable than me when presented with a boiled egg in a jam jar on the first morning. By the second morning we had worked out that extras such as bacon could be requested. I thought it... More

This is a unique, slightly quirky, excellent little hotel. I have stayed in hotels for business and pleasure all over the world -- this is one of the most memorable. The decor is very interesting quirky modern art -- makes you think. The breakfast is absolutely excellent. The staff is very upbeat, highly responsive. We had a 0530 check out... More

The Altstadt Hotel is one of those places that you want to go back to a.s.a.p. Great location, great service, great rooms, everything you can wish for. A 5 minute walk to metro Volkstheater takes you to Schönbrunn, Prater, Stephanskirche etc. Our room was excellent, clean, beds very comfortable, nice decorations, great bathroom, nothing left to desire. Special credits to... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
