I have lived in Europe 6 months prior to my stay at Altstadt, and can confidently say that it is may favorite hotel in the continent. I really enjoyed a change of the pace from the same old hotel experience in other cities. Though the hotel is not in the touristy city center, I enjoyed the hotel's neighborhood far more...

Beautiful interior design. Good spacious attractive room, not crowded with unnecessary furniture, but a bit too warm for us at times as we couldn't seem to control the heating. Staff very friendly and accommodating, breakfast staff in particular. Breakfasts extensive, but the teapots a real fiddle. Afternoon tea and cakes a bonus, but coffee as an alternative would have been...

Aldstadt Vienna hotel is a real find and reasonably close to public transport and the city centre. Staff are very friendly, efficient and go out of their way to help or give advice. Our room was one of the suites and was spacious and comfortable. The various pieces of art both in our room and around the hotel added to...

We would recommend this hotel for several reasons, not least because of its friendly and attentive staff. Our room was immaculately clean, designed in a Baroque style and the boxpring bed was very comfortable. Nice details and 'perks' are, for example, the Nespresso machine in the room and the chocolates on the bed. The breakfast was also particularly good and...

Where do I even start? This place entertained one of my best lodging experiences I have ever had-- no small feat. It's located in the Neubau residential district, which is a fun place to explore if you enjoy hipster home furnishings retailers, discreet bars, and upscale hairdressers. It's about 15-minute walk to the nearest U-bahn station and the almighty Museumsquartier....

Thank you to the wonderful staff for an excellent stay. Everyone could not more for you. They certainly lived up to the ethos of the hotel. Breakfast fabulous. The room was quiet and very clean. I will be back next time I am in Vienna.

We arrived late at night after a long journey. The hotel is situated in a quiet backstreet near to a snooker hall. The entrance hall is not particularly welcoming and therefore we entered with a little concern BUT - when we got inside - it was BRILLIANT!! The staff are superb, the rooms excellent, the breakfast first class and the...

Dear Ian H, thank you for your feedback! Indeed, in Vienna small streets may keep the most hidden gems. Truly, our entrance is unusual. So we are more than happy that you went all the way into the Altstadt experience and discovered the "beauty that lies within"! Hope to welcome you again. Kind regards, Lisa & the Altstadt team

We had a wonderful stay at the Altstadt Hotel Vienna. Due to it's central location, only steps away from the old town, we had the chance to visit a lot of places even while staying only one night. The rooms was cozy and the bathroom amenities were a definite plus: they smell divine!!! The staff was very helpful. This a...

Well located ten minute walk to center, quirky boutique hotel, lovely warm staff, great free tea and cake in afternoon. Overall a fab place to stay, would recommend. Rooms not huge but enough space and v comfy bed.

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
