I stayed in this hostel last year for 1 week, and I stayed there this year too without any hesitation! From all the hostels I have stayed in, this one has an unique cozy and friendly atmosphere. You always meet nice people there, and music sessions are just amazing!

This is hands down one of the best properties, hostel or otherwise that I have ever stayed at! The staff are one of the standout features of the hotel, extremely friendly and personable they go out of their way to help with every manner of enquiry. I stayed in a 4 bed mixed room

Very nice atmosphere. Good acommodations. Warm helpful staff. Gorgeous little inner garden for that quick puff, or a lazy brunch with all the friends you'll be quick to make while lounging around the common areas. Altogether very inviting place with unbeatable prices.

Really nice staff, clean and near U-bahn. Pluss it’s cheap, so great value for the money spent. Also, this is not a chain of hostels, it is family driven, so I would recommend to support them rather than some hostel chain.

Is it near to city center?
On google maps it does not look near BUT a lot of the hustle and bustle is the 7th and 6th district, both on the way from the Hostel to the city center. And after checking out the main sites in the center for a day that might be more interesting. Another main attraction - the Schönbrunn Palace is also very very close to the Hostel, much closer than the other Hostels that are located on the right side, arguably not so nice side of Vienna.

Do the private dorms have air conditioning?
Hi there, thanks for your interest in our hostel :). The weather in Vienna is usually rather mild, and like many historic buildings in the city we do not have air conditioning. All of our rooms are however outfitted with fans, and we have plenty of extras to pass out when the temperatures do climb. If you have any more questions, please feel free to write. Have a great trip to Vienna - we'll hope to see you here! Best, Courtney & the Hostel Ruthensteiner Team

Hi, this is Courtney, I'm a manager here at Hostel Ruthensteiner. I'm so sorry but we somehow missed your request. This answer is definitely coming too late, but our guests have given you some good advice - thanks Sanket & Åsa! Just in case someone else has the same questions, let me just add a few things: - You can get to us from either the Stadioncenter or the airport, but it will be cheaper from Stadioncenter. The 'Stadion' metro station is right around the corner from Stadioncenter - buy a one-way ticket for €2.20, then take the U2 line (direction Karlplatz), and exit at Volkstheater. Switch to the U3 line (direction Ottakring) and exit at Westbahnhof. From there you can walk to our house in 5 minutes - see our website for a map+description. - As for the airport - it's very easy to get to & from the airport from our hostel. The simplest way is to take the Airport Bus to/from Westbahnhof (€8, pay in cash on the bus), and then walk 5 minutes to our house - see our website for a map+description. There are also cheaper routes - if your interested, just ask at reception (in person or per email). That's it! As Sanket says, Googlemaps doesn't work for public transport in Vienna - the app Qando is free to download and does a great job. For walking or driving directions Googlemaps is fine. I hope you enjoyed your trip! Best, Courtney

Hey, as testified to by our guests below, you can expect a good night's sleep with us! We do enforce our no-noise policy in the dorms and room areas from 10pm to 9am - we're luck enough to have a bar that is well isolated noise-wise, so you can enjoy a beer and get to know your fellow guests in the knowledge that a quiet room is awaiting you whenever you turn in :).
