I have been very lucky to choose this hotel for my first ever visit to Vienna. The location is almost perfect: very close to the "Praterstern" station (S- and U-Bahn), with the U-Bahn station of Nestroyplatz (U1 - right to the centre of the Altstadt) even closer by. The staff is very, very welcoming and professional, and the hotel has all facilities you could wish for (including a fitness and gymn, which was, understandably, closed due to Covid-19). The room itself was magnificent. I got a free upgrade (presumably because there were so few tourists in Vienna due to the Corona-crisis), and I've never slept in a room so luxurious, in a bed so comfortable, or taken a shower in such a gorgeous bathroom. The hotel was already in function as such in the early 19th centure, and this proud history is being shown to the customer, rightly so. Furthermore Max Steiner, one of the all-time great film composers (Gone with the Wind!) was born in this hotel, and the bar has been conceived as an hommage to him. All of this gives the hotel, wihch by itself is already a pretty fine building, a lot of atmosphere. Breakfast was very, very good as well, with ample choice of everytihng you could wish for. Top marks all over the place!

Sleep Quality
Room Tip: Rooms at the backside are very quiet, since they are faced towards the courtyard.

Very well located, underground station a few minutes away, or walkable to Stefansplatz. Excellent Itlalian restaurant across the road and other restaurants nearby on Praterstr. Clean, welcoming hotel, unfussy but staff very kind and helpful. Fridge in room, tea and coffee-making equipment, comfortable beds - everything you could want. My room faced on to the street and was rather dark due to large trees lining the pavement, but the trees helped screen off the street lighting and also muffled street noise so not at all bad. First class breakast, coffee from a machine alas, which is now the norm in many hotels, but it was of drinkable quality. No toast making facilities, which I missed, although I am sure if i had asked I would have been brought some. But it would be good to have a toaster in the breakfast room. Excellent scrambled egs (two types), bacon and toast. Home made yoghurt, which was delicious. Thoroughly recommended and when I come to Vienna again this is where I will stay.

The location in the 2nd district, the proximity to the city center and to Prater, right on the U1 and U2 lines plus the impressive history of the hotel was what made us choose this hotel and good for us! Although a historic building, it had all the modern amenities, including air conditioning, which we appreciated because we stayed here during the hottest days (and nights!) of summer 2020. Unlike the modern hotels you can actually open the windows as much as you like for some fresh air, which I appreciated because I’d like to sleep with the window open. The room was clean, the wardrobe specious, the beds comfy, only the mattress a bit too soft for my liking. The breakfast was in form of a buffet and the choice was sufficient even for a vegetarian like myself. I also appreciated large cups for tea which are rarely available at other hotels. The bonus was that we could actually take the food outside and have our breakfast on the terrace. Parking was also conviniently situated in the courtyard. The hotel was also very quiet, we could hear no banging doors, no footsteps in the corridors etc. The only small issue that disturbed us a little was a non-functioning ventilator in the bathroom, which we assumed was due to the current covid-19 situation. Otherwise it was perfect. Very pleasant stay. I definitely recommend this hotel.
