Hotel Praterstern is in the second district of Vienna, by foot it takes 20-30 minutes to reach Stephansplatz, the heart of the city center. That is if you go to Praterstrasse (the big street closest to the hotel, turn left and go straight). Or you can just take the subway U1 at Prater station. That is minutes by foot if...

Nothing to criticise really on this hotel : in a quiet street, not far from the metro and railway stations. They do not accept credit cards and wifi is 3€ extra per 24h. The room was 79€ per night for a double, including breakfast buffet. They also have a quiet garden where you can have a snack or a drink....

We stayed here for 5 nights whilst at a conference at the ACV. This was a great location for getting to the conference centre - an easy 3 stops on the U-Bahn, or a 40 minute walk across the river. I was also an easy walk into the city centre, or a couple of stops on the u-bahn. The hotel...

Very convenient to train station-nice hotel with friendly staff. Room was clean with a comfortable bed. We took the CAT from airport, the hotel is just one stop away on the train. Bar on-site. Breakfast was excellent. I can't wait to go back and spend a few more days in Vienna and will definitely stay at the Praterstern again!

We stayed in two different Vienna hotels, and I wish we'd just stayed in those one. The location is so convenient. We arrived at the airport and took the S7 directly to Praterstern, which was also cheaper than taking the City Airport Train, which would've required us to transfer at Wien Mitte. We got off at Praterstern, which is a...

I was a solo traveller and paid only 28 Euro per night at this hotel. Vienna is an expensive city. Average hotels are like 80 Euros per night. U can go check it out. Hotel praterstern is clean and value for money. If i am going to visit vienna again, I will reconsider this place.

We spent a whole week at this hotel, in April 2009. We booked directly via the Internet, and I was a bit nervous, as 69 euros per night are definitely not much. But everything went just great! The room, located at the 4th floor, was enormous, clean and did not lack a single thing. The bathroom was also great! We...

We've stayed here last year and I don't have many complains about this hotel, because it is cheap, clean, staff helpfull, good breakfast (average), metro nearby, Praterstern street nearby with some good places to dinner, luggage place at the reception... We actually booked this hotel beacuse we didn't have any other to choose, at this price, by the time we...

We arrived Vienna on 10 Oct 08 and stayed at Hotel Praterstern for a night. It was one of the BEST hotel room I ever stayed in Europe!! We were given one of the rooms on level 4, and it was extremely spacious, modern and new. The wardrobe is huge, and there is a flat screen LCD TV and a...

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
