Pension Aviano is a wonderful small bed and breakfast that has a privileged location in the very center of Vienna, tucked a few steps away from pedestrian main shopping street, Kaertnerstrasse. It can be a bit tricky to find but just refer to Neue Markt Hotel which is across the fountain in front. It is located in a small street... More

This hotel was fantastic! It was about a 5 minute walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Stephansplatz subway station. The hotel is in a perfect location - close to everything in Old Town Vienna! It's small and nothing fancy, but there was a homey and comfortable feel to it. It's on the 5th floor of a building, and there... More

I have stayed here twice, both times in November. It is very centrally located and yet very quiet- with double paned windows and double room doors. The rooms have charm and character and are decorated in a classic Viennese style, with elegant drapes and furnishings. My room had a wonderful view form an upper floor, room 301. The bathroom and... Roomy and bright, but old fashioned and a bit tired. Bathroom was small and old, but adequate. The front desk staff was very impersonal and breakfast was mediocre by European standards. WiFi was constantly non-functional. We would not stay here again.

When researching accommodation for Vienna, we relied on photos and reviews but we were disappointed. The location was very central and the staff were helpful and friendly. Hot Breakfast buffet was cold despite the candle used to keep the temperature. The hotel was awkward to find and the elevator very slow and small. On arrival we had to take our... More

The Pension Aviano is in a prime location for seeing Vienna! You go in the building which is very well mapped out by the staff on how to get there. You take a very tiny elevator to the top floor and get off and go into the Pension Aviano. The staff are really friendly and they represent the Aviano like... More

A fantastic 5 night stay. Tucked away on the upper floors of a very well located building they are very friendly and obliging. A very healthy and bountiful breakfast each day with fresh fruit and a lovely friendly staff always greeting with a smile. The last day leaving early the night desk staff let me get some breakfast an hour... More

While the location of this pension is excellent for seeing the sights as others have noted, I found the pension itself to be quite average. Perhaps it was the room we drew, but some aspects of our room were somewhat shabby such as the worn rug. We had an inside corner room facing the rear of the pension. Our window... More

Dear Guest, we are sorry to read that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We do have different categories and types of rooms. It looks as if you had one of the smaller doublerooms facing the courtyard. Those rooms are quiet but due to the Location a bit darker than the others facing the streetside. It's a pity that... I chose this hotel because of the reviews I read on Trip Advisor and I have not been disappointed. The 17 room pension is at the top two floors of an elegant old building. It is a little difficult to find.... Make yourself a map before you go.... But it is worth the search.... The rooms are spacious and comfortable.... More

Loved this small hotel in the heart of Vienna. It was conveniently located to all the sites I wanted to see. Everything was very walkable. There was sufficient privacy and quiet even though the Aviano is just off a high traffic shopping area. The staff was extremely helpful, able to answer any question, and provide suggestions for activities and restaurants/cafes.... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
