On arrival last week, we had to enter the hotel with a pre given code. The Pension is on the 4th floor of a beautiful old building, but don't be misled by the outside...the inside of the hotel is dire! Here is a list of issues we had: Mould on the walls, peeling paint and splashes of coffee and tea...

On arriving at the hotel the door didn't look like the door of a hotel. As reception was lacking of staff after 8pm we were left with a code to open the door to the building. The door was a grand metal heavy door and on entering we were both impressed by the marble hallway and we made our way...

Here are the plusses: - location. If you want to be somewhere close to the Mien Witte (CAT) so you can quickly get to the airport, this is a great choice. It's also very close to the U1, so you have access to just about everything. It's walking distance to the city center and also to the Plater. - value....

The pension is located in the center of Vienna, easy to find it by just 2 trains. Beutiful old building and the rooms are renovated and very clean. Smart concept. All the details count, even the chocolate on my pillow. Great value of money.

The Pension is in a beautiful old building in the centre of Vienna. The location is ideal as you can see all the sights on foot, or take the nearby underground. There is parking under the square it is on and you get a discount through the hotel. Our std double room was quite compact, as was the shower room,...

Pension is a beautiful old building close to the old city. Extremely friendly staff with really pretty little breakfast area and lovely quiet bright rooms. For a short break costing approximately 163 euros with breakfast per person for a 3 night stay you really can't go wrong. Fantastic. Highly recommended

Easy walk from CAT Landstrasse Bahnhof, comfortable walk to Stefansdom, even with our 8 year old in tow and a busy sight seeing schedule over 3 days we managed everything on foot or public transport. The location on the 4th floor of a beautifully preserved baroque building opposite Otto Wagner's Postsavings Bank Building is food for the soul. You can...

The accommodation is very well situated for seeing the old city. Everything is in very good proximity. Accommodation is neat and reception professional. Only negative was the pillows but that is not the most serious issue.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A guesthouse reflecting Vienna itself Pension Riedl was founded in 1948, by Johanna Riedl, the grandmother of the current owner. Until today the guesthouse is led by the same family, with the same philosophy of individual and private guest services. Located on the 4th floor of a palace built in Art Nouveau, in the heart of Vienna, a stay in one of our 10 rooms is as 'Viennese' as can be. We renovated six of the 10rooms in 2008, carefully following the architectural tradition and the cosmopolitan philosophy of Vienna, the symbiosis of tradition and modernity. All rooms, the reception and the breakfast room are located on this same 4th floor (elevator available). ... more   less
