We got a fair deal (€78 plus parking at €22) which seemed quite good for a hotel close to central Vienna. Parking OK, except for being blocked by half a bed and a couple of big steel plates that I had to remove before putting my car there. Room OK, but no luggage rack. So we had to put our...

Lovely hotel, upgraded to a priviledge room which was well worth the extra money. Room was comfortable and modern in appearance. Breakfast was very good a wide selection, something for everyone. The customer care was however very variable. Our shower room had no light when we arrived we were offered a room change but since we had already unpacked and...

I picked this hotel for its location to the Christmas Market. It is situated on a quite side street only 1 - 2 mins walk from the Rathaus underground station. We arrived at the hotel at 2130 and took a little time to check in as the lady serving in the late night bar seemed to be the lady working...

We visited Vienna for the Christmas markets and this hotel is excellently situated with three of the major markets within 5-10min walk. The property is also tucked away in a side street so it is quiet. We booked a family room which was really spacious and even had its own kitchen. The breakfast buffet is decent and there is a...

I stayed at the Mercure Josefshof Wein after completing business on a Friday afternoon. The hotel is located about 200 meters from the Rathaus. This is a very nice hotel with parking in the City Center. Unfortunately we had to depart too early thee following day to comment on the quality of the breakfast but I would be very surprised...

Just returned from a short trip to Vienna for the Christmas markets. The Hotel Josehof is perfect for this. A five minute walk from the stunning Rathaus market and with an underground station even closer, it is situated for getting around the city without any problems. Our room was clean and tidy, nice and quiet and the blackout blinds made...

The hotel is very well situated nearby U-Bahn, buses and airport shuttle bus. The rooms are good, beds soft with a variety of pillows, well-equipped bathroom and very quiet. The flatscreen TV has an enormous amount of broadcasting canals, there's a desk in the room and you can either use wifi (which was very good) or plug your laptop in...

Christmas Shopping, Music & Site Seeing was the purpose our visit to Vienna. We had been there on a summer break and found it a wonderful city to visit. This was also a return visit to Mercury Josefshof Wien. The underground train system was close by which made our site seeing very accessible and easy to get to the many...

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Tucked away in a quiet side street but near Rathaus U station so handy for travel. We were here for the Rathaus Christmas market with the biggest Christmas tree I've ever seen! The hotel is clean and comfortable, traditional decor but well maintained. Would recommend for a short stay.

Just behind the City Hall (RatHaus) the hotel is located on a quiet street with food shops and a variety of restaurants (including vegetarian options). The staff is helpful and the breakfast has many options with good and plentiful coffee and tea choices. We stayed in a deluxe room located on the first floor. Though the room could be hot...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
