I stayed two nights in this hotel for a family city trip in Vienna. The hotel is located roughly 1,5 km away from the opera in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of restaurants around. The metro station is only 400 m away and will take into town in 5 minutes. Bedroom was great, we had a family suite on the...

I went for a vacation trip with my 3 kids back in December 2016 (dubbed it the Christmas Market Europe trip) and 4 days of that 10 day trip were spent in Vienna. After lots of back and forth, I finally decided to book this hotel for our trip. This hotel was actually one of my first choices to stay...

Very good location, within 5 minutes walking distance from the Nasch Market. The Opera House and the City Centre are within 15-20 minutes walking distance from the hotel . Many restaurants located close to the hotel. Rooms are clean and of reasonable size. House keeping is excellent and good variety at breakfast . The staff are very helpful and speak...

Visited this hotel back in Nov 2016. The location is advantageous as it is really close to the city centre. Staff were very polite, receptionist kindly helped us with directions to main city highlights and recommended other interesting places where to eat or have a drink. The only hitch which really spoiled my overall experience from HI Vienna city was...

The hotel is located downtown Vienna, most landmarks are walking distance. The room was fabulous - spacious, comfortable mattress, WIFI, TV, coffee maker, you name it! The only inconvenience was that there was not enough space in the parking garage so we had to park far from the hotel.

The approach to the hotel is too narrow. Doesn't feel you are entering in holiday inn. The rooms are good but they charge you 180 to 200 Euro per night which seemed high, without breakfast. Location of hotel is inside city

My experience with hotes is that they are typically located in commercial areas and provide no opportunity to experience local living. Especially in the US. I like Airbnb stays because that way I can experience local living. This hotel is located in the middle of a neighborhood. Great to see kids going to school, locals walking on the streets, and...

The HI Vienna City worked for a one night stay before returning home. It is conveniently located about 300m from a U stop and is a 15 minute walk to the city center. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the facilities are clean and well maintained. The room was smaller than expected and the tub/shower combo was probably to...

Hotel is well located for walking into Vienna city centre. 15 minutes takes you into the main thoroughfares. Hotel is what you would expect from a good holiday inn namely decent bed, clean room and reasonable size. The staff are excellent and very helpful.

Staying in Margareten

Neighborhood Profile
Margareten
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
