What a delightful hotel. The one thing that makes it really special are all the staff who always greet you and are so friendly and attentive. They are also very knowledgeable about the city and very ready to describe the highlights to you, suggest places for you to visit and give you directions to get there.
We had a superior room which was beautifully decorated and with all the amenities that you would require. As it was our anniversary, we were given a beautiful handwritten card on our arrival which was a really lovely touch. The room has an espresso coffee machine and well stocked mini bar. The free Wi-Fi is excellent and the pillows and bedlinen beautifully comfortable, which the hotel do take pride in providing.
The bathroom had a shower over the bath and were supplied with shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and all the necessary accessories you require. There was also a handy magnifying mirror and hairdryer.
The breakfast service is excellent as are the choices available.
The location is excellent for walking around the city, situated off a side street, so extremely quiet and within a few minutes of the central station which provides access to the underground system to the whole of Vienna.
We visited in January, which was in fact a quiet tourist month but popular venues and attractions still require booking in advance.
If you’re visiting at this time of year be prepared for it to be very cold. Vienna is a windy city and the chill factor from the wind makes it feel much colder than the general temperature. None of this detracts from Vienna itself, but it’s best to be prepared.
The Hotel has won many awards and has an excellent rating which is truly justified. We hope to come back – possibly in warmer months – and would certainly want to come back to this hotel.
Thank you to all the staff for making us stay so lovely.

A Christmas trip to Vienna with a 5 night stay at the lovely Kaiserhof hotel. A warm friendly welcome from reception on our arrival a theme that continued throughout our stay from all members pod the staff. The hotel is 5* with fabulous rooms and very comfortable beds and pillows giving a good night’s sleep. Tea & coffee in room along with a minibar which you must pay for, also a safe in the wardrobe. The room is clean immaturely every day with clean towels every day if you require. Breakfast time is served in a very smart restaurant with a great range of food from full cooked to continental and a full selection of teas and coffee’s. Its location is great with a 5 minute walk to the tram or slightly further to the underground, or a 25 minute walk into the centre. Thank you Kaiserhof for a memorable stay and look forward to staying with you again

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
The hotel exudes the charm of the imperial era, but does not have to forego modern comfort. Our room on the ground floor was very large with a very comfortable bed and a large, cozy wing chair. It was very good that the toilet and bathroom were separate and the bathroom was equipped with a large shower cubicle. The breakfast is excellent and very varied, with hot dishes, cheeses and desserts changing daily. The staff is attentive and friendly. The beautiful hotel bar with the incredibly friendly barman is the icing on the cake for me. Also worth mentioning is the location right behind the Karlskirche, quiet and yet most of Vienna's highlights are easily accessible on foot.

We more than enjoyed our stay. We usually stay in homestays or guesthouses/small bed and breakfasts, but for my birthday we wanted something a little more "upscale".
We both prefer the classic style and so we were very well accommodated at the Hotel Kaiserhof. You see a lot of details and reside in a more classically furnished hotel without the furnishings being old-fashioned or even "old". The bed is very comfortable, there are three different pillows - one for every type of "sleeper". We also had a bathtub and a great rain shower. The curtains darkened the room very well, the location of the hotel is incredibly quiet so we could sleep with the window open. You can also walk to the nearest buses, trams and subway. Another small highlight for us in winter was the sauna and steam bath. Heated up in 30 minutes, small lounge area, tea to brew yourself and cool water in the fridge. In the late afternoons we actually had the sauna to ourselves on both days.
The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired, from hot to cold, sweet to salty, healthy to small sins, meat, sausage, fish, vegetarian, vegan, sparkling wine, lots of teas and fresh coffee specialties... all in really good quality. The dining room always had a clean, tidy and calm atmosphere with classical music, very very pleasant. There are also daily newspapers and a reading corner in the lobby with cool water and apples.
The staff and service are also worth mentioning! From reception to service, the kitchen to housekeeping/cleaning staff: everyone is always very friendly and helpful.
A highlight for me was actually when we were back in the room on my birthday: As a surprise, there was a handwritten(!) birthday card from reception and a bottle of sparkling wine as a birthday surprise.
I thought that was a great appreciation and a really great surprise.
We would love to come back.

My husband and I spent two weeks Vienna and stayed at the Hotel Kaiserhof. We loved this historic hotel and highly recommend it. Our room was spacious (a superior king room), comfortable, quiet, clean. Kaiserhof provided lots of amenities—complimentary drinks, a clothesline in the shower (helpful for our longer stay), umbrella, and more. We could even request extra pillows to fit our sleeping habits! We loved that it was “green” and that it provided glass bottles in the room to fill with the great Vienna tap water: no plastic water bottles needed on this trip. Breakfast was amazing—suiting all sorts of preferences—and we could order Viennese specialty coffees every morning. The staff was extremely professional and helpful. We loved the location, just a couple of streets outside the Innere Stadt (the busy tourist center). That meant that the hotel was very quiet (situated on a side street) but still very central. We could walk almost everywhere, including to our evening music events. For longer trips, a main subway station (Karlsplatz) was just 5 minutes away. And lots of restaurant options nearby. Should we ever return to Vienna, we would definitely stay again at the Kaiserhof.

We have stayed at the Kaiserhof twice before, so this review may be coloured by our high expectations from our previous experiences. We returned because we loved the hotel. This time, when we arrived our room was not ready ( we were about an hour before the check in time if 3pm). The reception staff said they would let us know as soon as the room was ready and so we retreated to the bar area to have a cup of (very expensive, as it turned out) tea. Sadly no one contacted us, so we had to chase for our room, which miraculously turned out to be ready when we reminded reception of our existence an hour later. The room was clean and comfortable, and turned out to be quiet as it was at the end of a corridor. The bath was deep and would have proved difficult to get into for people who are less flexible or less mobile. The shower was sadly pathetic and switched from hot to cold just a little too often. Towels were a good size and were refreshed every day. The room decor felt a little old fashioned and you had to request an iron and ironing board if you wanted one. Wardrobe space was a little limited, and the safe was a bit complicated to use, but we sussed it in the end. Breakfast was good, but our memories of previous visits suggested that the choice had been more generous on previous occasions. Nevertheless there was a range of hot foods, including pancakes or waffles most days, cold meats, a variety of breads and pastries, with a good choice of jams and spreads. The fruit options were a bit limited and you had to get to the fresh fruit plate just after it was replenished to have a decent choice. Tea choices were fantastic and coffee options were by waitress delivery. The hotel was located down a quiet backstreet about a 5 minute walk from the Karlsplatz station and 7 minutes to the opera house. As long as you don’t mind walking it is a great location. The staff were on the whole pleasant and friendly, although I did observe one of them having a heated discussion with another guest. Not sure what it was about, but should not really have been in public. We had a pleasant visit, but I’m not sure we would rush back to the Kaiserhof again. It just didn’t feel quite as good as it had on previous occasions.

Dear valued Kaiserhof-Guest, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your continued loyalty to the Kaiserhof, and we're glad to hear that you loved the hotel in the past. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience regarding your room's readiness. We strive to ensure a smooth and timely check-in process, and we regret that we fell short this time. Your experience with the delay and lack of communication is not the standard we aim to provide, and we will take your comments into account to improve our service moving forward. We're pleased to hear that you found the room comfortable and quiet, and we appreciate your observations regarding the decor and the bath. We do understand that different guests may have varying preferences, and we are always looking to make improvements where possible. Regarding breakfast, we're glad you enjoyed the options, though we're sorry if the selection did not meet your expectations this time. We will look into offering more variety and ensuring the fruit plate is consistently replenished to maintain a high standard. Thank you for your kind words about our staff. We do take any instances of unprofessional conduct seriously, and we will ensure this is addressed with the team. We do hope to welcome you back to the Kaiserhof in the future, and we will do our best to make your next visit as pleasant as your previous ones. With kindest regards from Vienna, Gilbert Kratschmann / General Manager

The cleanliness of the hotel is absolutely one of the strong points of the structure which, given the furnishings and type of curtains and carpeting, is surprising because it does not present any type of smell, presence of dust or anything else that would undermine the idea of care and attention in cleaning. The bathroom is a bit small and access to the tub may present some difficulty, but if you consider the context the positive opinion cannot change. The breakfast is rich and varied, perhaps only the local products (bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages) are not that great, but the rest is fantastic; try the different types of bread offered. The location is optimal for reaching the Opera House and the Musikverein; a little less easy to reach the museum district or the Belvedere; while it is only one metro stop away from Stephanplatz. Highly recommended and the price is more than justified also for the professionalism of the staff especially those in the dining room.....really very attentive!!!

We enjoyed a long weekend break in Vienna. The location of the hotel was perfect for sightseeing and very near to the train station and subway. It was a nice 4 star hotel but with a few improvements could be so much better. We were room 313 which was located right next to the cleaners cupboard so we were woke early most mornings, usually before 8am. The rooms were very clean and beds lovely and comfy and the maid brought us some extra pillows on request. We loved the bar area and enjoyed it in the evenings before we ventured out and had the best pina colada’s served by Sanjay but it was never open in the afternoon for coffee which was a shame. Also one night a few people decided to order food from the bar which was amazing but Sanjay had absolutely no support and had to be the cook, waiter and barman. Quite ridiculous when there were staff on front desk who were not really busy. We added breakfast to our stay on 2 mornings and got a discounted rate and this was well worth it. So much choice and top quality food. Just a shame some of the staff were lacking in personality. Liked the fresh water and apples in the foyer each day and complimentary chocolate on departure.

Stayed for one night in the Admiral’s Suite. The room pictures and video on the website are accurate. The room is well appointed and elegant. The two sliding glass doors that separate the bath area from the bed combine to show a yacht on the sea. Top amenities in the room from coffee to toiletries. Our check-in was easy, and the front desk person was wonderful, providing us with recommendations for a quick walk to the Naschmarkt. Check-out was quick and efficient, and the pre-arranged car service on-time to take us to the airport.
The Admiral’s Suite is on the ground floor, across from the stairs, and a few steps up from the entrance and lobby desk. From the website pictures unless you look closely at the arches on the building across the street, you cannot clearly identify that the room is on the ground floor. Sitting at the table and on the mezzanine couch in the room, you can hear the interactions in the lobby as well as people coming up and down the stairs and their conversations. In the early morning, the delivery trucks park outside the suite, and you can hear the deliveries being made and conversations. The pictures show two examples taken at 7:01 and 7:04 am respectively.
In the early evening before dinner, when we could no longer tolerate the noise from the lobby, we asked the front desk clerk to be moved to different rooms. According to the website there were 5 rooms available at less cost than our suite. The front desk clerk, who was different from our check-in clerk, told us there was no noise and we were wrong, that we would need to pay for the additional rooms if any were available, if we moved rooms. We continued the exchange on why we would need to pay when we are not at fault and why he would know there was no noise when he was not in the room with us. Simply, this was the rudest front desk clerk we have ever encountered. When we went out for dinner, he noticed us and quickly departed the front desk to the back office.
This may be a great hotel but beware if you if encounter any issues and be aware that if you book the Admiral’s Suite, you may encounter the same challenges as we encountered.

Dear Mr. Ralff, thank you for sharing your feedback. We truly appreciate both your compliments and concerns, as they help us improve our services. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the elegant design of the Admiral’s Suite and appreciated the amenities and service during check-in and check-out. It's also great to know that our team’s recommendations were helpful during your stay. However, we're sincerely sorry that the noise levels in your room and the interaction with one of our staff members fell short of your expectations. Our room was not small, but it was a double room. I don't know about single rooms. I suggest you write directly to the hotel, I am sure they will be happy to answer.
Did not have any problems with Wi-Fi at the Hotel Kaiserhof.
When you take your room key out of the slot at night, the AC and lights turn off, so I was initially warm at night, but then the front desk advised me that the card that was in the slot when I first opened the door to the room is a special card that keeps the AC running. I thought someone had just left their room key.
There are more places to choose from in the Vienna area.
