Hotel Jäger is a small, family run Art Nouveau hotel in the 17th district of Vienna with easy access to tram and train. From and to the centre takes a mere 10-15 mins and is a fraction of the taxi costs that may take 25-30 mins and cost 30 Euros or more depending on traffic. If you are on a... More

About 20 min by transport from city centre. Really welcoming staff. Good and tasty breakfast. Rooms are clean and warm. Our 2 rooms were upgraded to suite as we were with 2 kids and infant. Has free WiFi.

When my wife and I were planning our 10-day stay in Vienna in early September, we were looking for a cosy place with a personal touch that would make us feel at home. And when we first considered the Jäger family hotel, we were pretty sure that this was the kind of place that would be right for us, although... More

My third time to stay here and it never disappoints. Friendly helpful staff, comfortable and immaculately clean rooms, superb breakfasts and a lovely relaxed feel to the place. Easy access into the city centre by tram and convenient also for Hernals S-Bahn station. Highly recommended

I have visited Vienna 5 times and to say it is my favorite place in the Universe is an understatement and this Hotel is an Oasis of Composure is also an Understatement. That was my first trip a couple of years ago to this magnificent city that I made when I by great fortune and chance met the kind and... More

I like small, well cared for hotels and this is perfect. It is tucked away in a very interesting ethnic suburb of the city, but the atmosphere is true Vienna. I loved the garden (a rarity in the city). There is an efficient lift and I liked my room, which though small had everything I needed and was like home.... More

We stayed at this hotel while in Vienna in April, 2015. It was an excellent choice with an easy tram ride into city center. The family who own it are wonderful to chat with and give you great ideas also for your time. There is a wonderful free breakfast and you can also get coffee and cake for your after... More

Staff nice & helpful. A few steps up to hotel & elevator inside. Flowers in front, outdoor seating with blankets. Small pleasant touches. Asked for coffee when arrived 3 pm & she offered cappuccino & homemade cake. Loaned adapter, umbrella & got perfect directions & tram pass, altho never showed it. Room small, good free WiFi, a safe, small stool,... More

15 minutes by tram to the centre of Vienna and the tram stop is right next door. We had breakfast outside in their beautiful garden every day. Very helpful staff, clean rooms, and in short nothing to complain about. There are a couple of nice restaurants and pubs within walking distance if one doesn't want to go into town.

Staff was super helpful and friendly. Great breakfast too. The "economy" room was very small. No A/C on very hot days was an issue. Good location if you don't mind taking the tram or the S-bahn which are very close.

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
