I stayed here with my mum a few weeks ago for our 4 day girls weekend in Wien. I cannot fault this little place, directly opposite the Opera House, minutes walk to the main pedestrian only shopping area. The staff were so friendly and helpful....More
We stayed 2 nights at this lovely hotel. It is located within blocks of the Hofburg, and across the street from the Opera. The location was important as my husband recently had hip surgery, so long walks were out of the question. The room was...More
Arriving very early in the morning following 15 hours of flights I found the Desk Staff expecting me and my room prepared. The Desk Manager advised that breakfast would shortly be ready to serve and provided me with a map of the historic area and...More
Absolutely loved this hotel which is housed in a former noble family's home. It gives you an idea of how rich Viennese lived in the old days....
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Reception was nice with an never ending bowl of gummy bears....More
This was a very good and clean hotel; the reception was excellent, the room was of a great size, and the breakfast was good. The location couldn't be any better, right in front of the opera house. Unfortunately, we were visiting at the time of...More

In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The
Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

See the responses posted by Katie and SuePhilly: train and underground combination works well, is as fast as or faster than other methods and much less expensive. There is also an airport bus service that takes you to Schwedenplatz: like a taxi it depends on traffic conditions how fast that'll be; also from Schwedenplatz, you again depend on other means of transport to get to the opera area. -- The hotel does not have its own shuttle service.
