We stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights. The lady at the counter helped us with a map and a great smile to find what we needed in the city.. the hotel is not in a great zone but the tram to the city centre stops directly in front of it. The place was clean, the breakfast good... More

I'd strongly recommend avoiding this hotel given that there is so much choice in Vienna. Firstly I have to say that the staff were polite and helpful when it came to local information however, the room itself was a disappointment. Our room was on the seventh floor. The bathroom proved to be completely impractical as you have to stand in... More

Room: don't trust the internet photo. The room is small and dated. No kettle and compliment drinks. Some furniture such as window and closet need to be fixed. But it's clean. Bathroom: compact with bathtub that cannot be used as bathtub. But the shower is good any you spend most of the time outside hotel, who needs bathtub then? Remember... More

Me and my fellow traveller stayed here as a result of a British Airways (stand by for a review of them too!) holiday deal, and this hotel was chosen on the basis of the photos, location and price. All comments on the room relate to room 118. So let's start with checking in: Check in was nice and smooth, a... More

We are staying at the Exe as I write this review. We are currently on our second morning of being woken early by delivery drivers (all rooms back on to the delivery access and each room has a view akin to a scene from the walking dead) who insist on leaving engines running and banging every van and entrance door... Good location: not in the "city heart" but just outside it. Near metro station, but which we never even got to use, since the City Bikes took us everywhere. (We highly recommend the City Bikes!) Breakfast was ordinary, but good, daily variations on the buffet. Staff was very friendly and helpful, as was the cleaning people. Good condicioning in the... More

The highlight of our stay has been the breakfast. Great selection, high quality, nice breakfast room, the perfect start for a day of sightseeing in Vienna. The room was comfortable, clean, the mattress firm and good to sleep on. Friendly and professional staff. The swimming pool in the basement looked larger on the website of the hotel than in real... The hotel is nice, the staff is very helpful and proffesional. The beds are very good, sleeping quality on max! We found some foreign hair in the bathroom, but it was clean overall. Breakfast was very luxurios with various foods.

Staying in Ottakring

Neighborhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
