We are pleased to present the rich in traditon Boutique Hotel Fürst Metternich in hostoric splendor as an individual, family run boutique hotelTradition & FlairThe Hotel Fürst Metternich offers its guests the unique flair of Vienna at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. The building in the style of the German Neo-Renaissance was built in 1896 and is embedded in a row of houses with typical Viennese character. A special highlight is the preferred downtown location in a quiet side street of the shopping boulevard “Mariahilfer Straße“.

This hotel had a great location near the shopping street, the subway and also supermarkets. The employees were also very nice and helped me getting hot water and forks when I asked for. I missed some air-conditioning and it didn't look as good as it does in pictures. Breakfast could also have more variety, but it served the purpose during our stay in Wien.

It is a small hotel, the rooms are not very big but they are clean and the bathrooms are renovated. Breakfast is very good, wifi reception is excellent and the location is amazing. Very close to public transportation and within walking distance from Vienna historic centre.

Considering the price I paid, AUS $300 per night, I was very disappointed. Positives first: central location, friendly reception staff, good breakfast. However my room and the passage ways were unatractive, worn out, badly furnished, didn't even have a desk, you really don't want to spend any time there except for sleeping. Only the recently refurbished bathroom was good. Had I paid half the price I would not had complained

First time in Vienna and staying in this hotel. It was clean, warm and comfortable in the room and fine for what we wanted. In room coffee facilities would have been a plus. Staff were ok not really obvious where they were unless you actually looked for them but polite when found. The chambermaids were all very friendly. Sadly our worst experience was our first night in the bar, Barflys, apparently we were 10 minutes too early so had to leave the area as they weren't ready. We had booked a hotel with a bar with intention of having an evening drink every night of our stay. We had a couple of drinks each a menu of what seemed like a hundred very expensive cocktails and 2 beers, guiness or becks, so we had a guiness and a becks. No chat from the bar staff until amazingly we went to pay and leave. We are in this industry and certainly go out of our way to chat to people it's a major part of the job. Hotel was more than fine we really liked it but the bar oh dear oh dear

I understand this is a county-wide appealing backwards policy of allowing smoking indoors, but this is the worst I've ever experienced! The smoking and non-smoking areas in the bar aren't segregated at all, and after sitting in the 'non-smoking' area for five minutes, my eyes are watering, I'm coughing, and all my clothes stink because some idiot is indulging in their disgusting habit next door. And there aren't even windows! It is a shock to witness this in such a developed and allegedly 'civilized' country and quite an expensive hotel as well. A truly backwards trend and would never ever set my foot here or recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed here for 3 nights while on a 2 week holiday visiting a bunch of places. This was my least favourite place. We got a basic double room. Very very very small room!! Tiny double bed squeezed in the corner, surround by some strange old shelf. No room to walk beside the bed. We had to get on and off at the bottom of the bed. At the bottom of the bed (end of the room) there was just enough room to stand and change. Wardrobe and desk squeezed in the room. The bathroom door didn't close. Bathroom was fine except not being able to close the door and the tiles in the shower were dirty. Nothing in the room except a little booklet about the hotel. Over all a very basic super tiny room. Staff were nice, we got checked in quickly. Didn't see much of the hotel as we were out most of the time. We heard the bar was good but never got round to checking it out. Wouldn't stay here again. I think it's possible to find better places for the same money.

This is a fine hotel for a short stay, quite near things and quiet, in a safe neighborhood. We did not find the room all that comfortable as there was nowhere but the bed to sit in, but without overhead lighting and a tiny lamp on only one side of the bed.

The hotel is on fantastic location. The staff is very helpful. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel also has a large room for storing luggage before check in the room, and after check it out, so you can use whole day before and after.

Let me say first of all that the hotel had very high reviews and i had high expectations. When you arrive, the reception hall is very nice, buf after you take the lift, there are no more good news. My room was on the 5th floor, the carpet inside and outside the room is old, stained and should be replaced probably a couple of years ago. Inside you have the real problem. Once we got inside, we immediately noticed the very high temperature (outside it was 33°, inside.. almost the same) and the fan close to the bed and so the 3 nights' nightmare began. Even with the fan always on at the maximum power, the room never got fresher and we sweated from, the first second to the last, i was able to sleep 1 or 2 hours maximum per night as it was too hot. We tried to stay out of the room as long as possible. This is just unacceptable. Also, there are no power sockets, just one single power strip with 3 sockets, one used by tv/minibar, one used by the fan (that you could never unplug, unless you wished to melt in the room) and therefore we had only one available. We usually unplugged the tv/minibar at night to charge both our mobile. If it is not winter, stay as far as possible from this hotel.
