Had a one day workshop there. Got a room which was painted newly and it smelled not that goog, got headache. area around the room was kind of deserted, nobody around. At lunch we had to ask for the way to "our" restaurant. Service was professional. Was not impressed in total.

This hotel is in a great position, close to al amenities and attractions with some good restaurants and bars nearby. The public rooms are fine but drinks expensive. The breakfast was good but expensive at 26 euro. We had a superior room which was awful. The furniture was shabby and had an opaque window with no view, although when you... More

A wonderful hotel,in a perfect location for visiting the shops. We stayed for three nights & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The buffet breakfast was full of variety & kept being topped up! Our room was a good size & the bed was very comfy! We would definitely recommend this Hotel.

We recently spent 4 wonderful days here on a trip to Vienna. The Hotel was welcoming and very comfortable. The Staff were lovely and very helpful. The rooms were spacious and airy. It is also in a near perfect location for easy access to the main attractions. Breakfast was busy every day but plenty of choice for all tastes. We... More

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Great service by housekeeping staff, dining room staff and front desk staff. Our every request and every question was handled quickly and efficiently and professionally. Our two connecting deluxe rooms were very large and provided a home away from home for 7 days. The location was walking distance to most inner city sites and... More

First time in Vienna and booked via the Internet , excellent location and very good service . Obviously a very old building with large rooms , nice decor But the one thing that hits you as soon as you enter the room - a decrepid old table with a 14 inch T.V that looks like something from the seventies !!!... Hotel de France is ideally located: it is very close to the city center and close to the main public transport lines. We booked a Double Superior Room and were very satisfied with the old style, the large volumes and the cleanliness. The only thing we could "complain" about is the internet connection. The wifi was strong enough but we... More

Location is great. Walking distance to Hofburg Palace, Rathais, Opera and 1 minute away from the underground and tram connective stations. Very good breakfast, spacious rooms and very nice Viennise facilty. One reservation: No automatic replacement of towels every day. Need to ask for it.

I spent three nights in the hotel de France during my business trip to Vienna. As the venue for my business was in inter city I did not need the car and could teach everything on foot. The hotel is very well managed, the staff is warm and welcoming, and the Room I had was more than comfortable. Great Sleeping.... More

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighborhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighborhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
