Das Triest is a classic design hotel in the heart of Vienna. It is the masterpiece of Sir Terence Conran of hotel design in Austria. Located in the trendy Freihaus Quarter it is only 5 minutes walking distance to the state opera and the famous Naschmarkt. St. Stephens cathedral is reachable in a 10 minutes walk. Some 300 years ago the building was the main station for the horse-drawn postal route from Vienna to Trieste. The original stables with their vaulted ceilings were converted to lounges, suites and conference rooms with distinctive flair. The awarded restaurant Collio spoils its guests with Northern Italian cuisine. The Mediterranean inner courtyard is one of the busy city´s cherished quiet spots. The perfect place to have breakfast or BBQ during summertime! In November 2018 this treasure was expanded and offers more rooms and suites in unique design, a stylish bistro and bar concept, as well as an Italian delicatessen shop. Let us be your home away from home!

We visiting Vienna for 4 nights in on of our favourite cities and have found this super 5* hotel just outside the ring in the centre, 5 minutes walk from the Ubahn. We can see the Opera House, Hotel Bristol, the Sacher Hotel and St.Stephen's Cathedral in easy walking distance on leaving the hotel. We found all the staff are very polite and cheerul and the hotel is spotless with a central pleasant internal courtyard. Our bedroom with en suite shower room and separate WC is very comfortable and has excellent facilities including electric blackout blinds in the double glazed windows which can be turned into Venetian blinds at the touch of a button. My wife says the hair dryer is excellent and not like the some of the wimpy ones she's experienced in some hotels. There is a choice of restaurants/bar, breakfast was super with a good choice of things to choose and coffee is Nespresso and there are Nespresso machines in the bedrooms, and our ubiquitous mini-bar is well stocked. Unfortunately it's raining today but reception has a good stock of large umbrellas.....so no worries. If you're visiting Vienna this hotel is well worth considering...and ad an added bonus it's near the Klimpt museum and the city market with its wide variety of pop-up food including great fish and cheese stall with Austrian wines to savour. Our room was nice and spacious, we did have to pay extra to upgrade! the junior suite was nice with a great big bathroom but no bath! The food was good. Service was a little cold by some but not all of the staff! We paid to upgrade and when asked breakfast was included it was a straight no, again we would have to pay extra. There is no complimentary water in the room if you do drink water from the bar is will set you back 3.50 euros! Which you will need as the aircon in the room is really drying!! there is a shop opposite so make sure you stock up! On the plus side, it's in a quiet part of town on the outskirts but is an easy walk. to the opera house and beyond. Also, they provide nice Molton brown products in the bathroom.

We are living nearby the Silverbar of the hotel „ das Triest“ and have been going there quite regularly for many years. Barkeeper Kaita is one of a kind. Not only is he making the best cocktails in town ( one notices his international experience !), he is also a warm hearted person - and a great host.

We booked a three-night city break and getting to the hotel was very easy. Online we booked a 72 hours Vienna, bus, tram, and underground pass, and added to the ticket a return CAT (City Airport Train) for 36.10 euros each. Inside the airport we walked to the CAT terminal, which was only a three minute walk, where trains run every 30 minutes. This took us to Wien Mitte transport terminal, where we took a U2 underground to Karlplatz. Depending on which exit point you come out of the underground station, you might come out with the hotel in sight and a five minute walk will get you to the hotel. Check in was very efficient and quick, and in no time at all we were on our way to our room on the third floor. Our from was at the front of the hotel overlooking the street with trams going through. The window glazing was very good and almost no road noise was getting into the room. Room size was the typical small city hotel standard sized room and was adequate for our needs. The bathroom was spacious and very nice to use with the exception of the over bath shower head. It was far too powerful and in a waterfall kind of spray, if the fine spray was selected it went everywhere. The worst shower head I have ever come across I must say. Toiletries were of the very nice Moulton Brown, and the bathroom was nice and warm. The main room looked bland, perhaps it would have been nice to have a focus wall of a different colour or nice wall decoration. In the main room was a very nice B & O TV, but the only English channels were two news channels. There was a chargeable mini bar with drinks and snacks, a safe, iron and ironing board, table chairs. My wife enjoyed the two single duvets on the double bed, she said she can control her own duvet without me dragging it about! The bed gave us both a very comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was of the continental kind, but they will produce eggs in various forms and omelettes made to order if requested. We did try one evening meal in the hotel which was very reasonable priced and quite nice. The selection of food was very limited and would have liked to see a wider variety on the menu. The bar was an excellent place to be in the evening, the barman was an excellent member of staff, he knew his drinks and gave an excellent customer service. The hotel location is excellent for sightseeing Vienna, you can walk into the centre from the hotel; perhaps 20 minutes, or there is a tram and bus stop a two minute walk from the hotel. Then just past the tram and bus stop is the main Karlplatz transport interconnect station hub. This was a quiet hotel with very good transport links within a few minutes’ walk.
