Arrived a little late after a shambolic arrival at Vienna airport. Friendly and efficient reception and a free upgrade (to room 334). lovely room, quiet, spacious, comfy bed, good facilities, you have to pay for wifi which is a bit of a let down for the price but thats the only negative I can think of. Great staff had a... More

We upgraded to a deluxe suite bc we wanted a room that was around 500 square feet. We had a lovely, palace-like room that had a sitting area and a marble bathroom. There were not really any views bc the windows are small and barred. The staff working here can write the book on perfect hospitality. Everything was perfect and... More

I recently celebrated my Birthday weekend at the Hotel Imperial. My partner had booked it as a surprise and he had booked a Junior Suite. On arrival, we checked into our room but he was disappointed with it (even though it was good) as it didn't reflect the photos on the website, and was not quite as expected. I went... More

My family and I were searching for the Sacher Hotel Cafe - but when we asked for directions there, was told by a young Viennese - 'Why do you want to go to the Sacher Hotel Cafe, when there is the Imperial Hotel!!' Glad we took his advice!! We had tea and cake (the Imperial Torte) in the hotel sitting... More

Fabulous luxury hotel in a great location. A former palace built in 1873 it still has many of the palace features..the widest staircase I've ever seen in a hotel. Try a casual walk down the stairs instead of the lift and you will see what I mean...it's almost a tourist attraction in itself with all its history.

Family of four in two interconnected rooms was ideal in this 5 star hotel. We got a great deal on Expedia and so no major complaints. Staff were polite, helpful and spoke excellent English. Only issues were, no hot water from main shower but second room worked, fruit on arrival was rotten. Poor noise insulation from the neighbours is another... More

Grand Hotel in a Good Location...Be Careful with Upgraded Deluxe Rooms. SPG Gold member and I received an upgraded room. however it is not really an upgrade. The fifth floor rooms (most of them) have tiny windows that are in an alcove. Consequently, the rooms are very dark. Otherwise, elegant, grand hotel in a great location.

This hotel has great location, elegance, and a kind staff. We were traveling with our 10 month old and he had a delightful stay as well. Our room was classic decor which we loved, and had a HUGE luxurious bathroom with soaking tub. A bonus was to enjoy breakfast outside each day at the cafe and one must indulge in... More

Our recent stay at the Hotel Imperial was spectacular. The hotel itself is a work of art--with its beautiful staircase alone worth walking to/from our room every time rather than using the lift. The bar is like having a drink in a royal palace, it is beautiful and fun to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The room was beautiful and... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
