This is a long due review but my gf and I stayed one night in this hostel/guesthouse during our short visit to Vienna and we couldn't have been happier! The location is amazing! We were traveling by train from Salzburg, so the proximity of this hostel from Wien/Vienna main station was very very helpful! It was about 7-10 minutes walk!... More

So is it one or the other?..well, neither really, but what it is is done well! You pay the sort of money that would normally buy a bed in a dorm but you have a pleasant room (with washbasin) to yourself...no snorers..ahhh bliss! BUT ... you do not have an ensuite/private bathroom...that said, the bathrooms are so clean you really... More

My room was on the third floor and since there's an elevator, it was really nice, because the staircase is pretty long. I liked the colors of the hostel, but there were some things missing that could improve the quality of the stay. The double room was pretty basic, with very bad pillows (very thin), no decoration at all, which... More

ı think far away to the city center, not very easy to find, but its near the westbahnof metro, so you can easily go anywhere. there is only one wc and bathroom in each floor. rooms are small but generally hostel is very clean and comfortable. breakfast is good and attentive.

What you see in the photos are nothing compared to what you get really. Our room was not clean and looked like an alcatraz prison cell. The staff were very unpleasant. The bathrooms are very far from the rooms. The Breakfast is not included in the price which is wrong. You have other options in the city for the same... More

The Hostel itself was pretty average, the rooms were alright if maybe need a bit more of a clean. However the area was pretty good, being off on a side street just off Mariahilfersstraße which is a main shopping /eating area. Good for the price as accommodation is expensive in Vienna but don't be expecting any frills. Also no point... More

Good place to stay, great location, clean and quiet. As mentioned by other reviews, breakfast is pretty good but not included with the room price - 8eur. A couple things here and there remind the building's past as a nuns convent, and gives a kitschy touch. Wouldn't mind coming back again.

Location was good, a few minutes walk from the Westbahnof train station and tram stops. It was very clean and simple which was all we needed. The rooms were quite large and had a sink in them. There are shared bathrooms and showers which were also clean and well maintained. They look after your bags if you arrive before check... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighborhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
