I have been staying at the Intercontinental Vienna for many years, and have seldom encountered such good service in any hotel in the world. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and like being at home. The location is absolutely ideal, across the street from the beautiful Stadtpark and the metro, you can walk to everything in the city centre from here. The hotel is beautifully maintained and fully worthy of a luxury hotel. It is always a pleasure to stay here!
I do travel quite a lot but haven't been able to get myself into a discipline of leaving out reviews which would help other travellers. Hoping to change that from now on :-) Intercontinental Vienna has this nice old school charm. There's something about this place which reminds of an elegant charm of the bygone era. Many of the reviewers have listed how the hotel looks old and dated....to be fair that's partly true but it grows it's charm on you....Thanks to it's wonderful staff. Almost everyone that we came across from the time we checked in at 3 AM in the morning to our checkout was good hearted and service was excellent. The staff from the lobby cafe was exceptionally good at her work and so was the guy working at the bar. His energy was insane and he would bring our orders to us speedily always ensuring that what we needed was made available at the soonest. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were well appointed. We were staying for a special occasion and they had kept a cake for us in our room. The only thing that I would wish for is for the breakfast to have a little more options especially if they could have other international options as well since a lot of Non-Europeans also stayed at the property. And I hope they do retain their old school charm after renovation. Thanks Team Intercontinental!!…
The position of the Hotel is already a good reason to be there. Centered in the beautiful city of Wien, has all the conforts. A good morning buffet, kind staff and clean, I would recommend it to all the people that want to enjoy the city without even using transportation. 20-25 minutes from the airport this hotel is worthy of its reputation.
The hotel is close to the city centre. Reception area and restaurant area very nice. Food lovely and amazing breakfast buffet. The room was a wee bit tired and the hotel doesn’t look pretty from the outside … but you must remember the hotel was built in the 1960s. It’s worth a stop over if you are in Vienna. I would go back. …. And remember best breakfast buffet ever !!!
Fourth stay in this hotel and it was another superb one. Good location, very friendly staff, decent breakfast and nice views from the my hotel room. My preferred hotel, whenever I am in Vienna for business.
In a city full of history, where elegance and civilization are at home, this hotel is no different. In this hotel it is built in the elegant class style where technology has subtly found its place. The staff is professional, always smiling and ready to help you. the mansion is extremely well cooked. the location of the hotel is perfect, very close to the historic center of the capital. by far no description can really sum up the sophistication of this hotel.
We stayed here last week for 3 days using our IHG points. We’re pleasantly surprised that we were upgraded to a junior suite ! We’ve never experienced that here in the US. The service was exceptional from the bell service to the front desk from the check in to the checkout. Our room was huge being a corner room. You have two amazing views of the city. It has its own changing room, the bathroom has sauna/shower aside from the huge bathtub. The room comes with a Nespresso coffee maker, boiling pot and mini refrigerator. Did I mention all the contents of the mini refrigerator was complimentary! The location was also ideal as it was right across the Stadtpark station so its only few stops away from Stephenplatz and major locations. We would definitely come back here on our next trip to Vienna.…
extremely happy stay in center of Vienna in one of the nicest hotels in Austria. The lounge is excellent and made us had an excellent stay. Absolutely recommend to stay there when in Vienna. A big thank to Johann Sommerer Hotel manager for the arrangement he made our stay absolutely amazing
this hotel has some difficulties hiding its age ... the general aspect of the hotel is really a bit outdated, the rooms are clean but the bathroom oldfashioned, the heating noisy and often not working properly, quality of the bed is very good, we found the hotel to be quiet, breakfastroom horrible, breakfastbuffet mediocre for a 5-star hotel. Situation great for visiting Vienna, Staff trying hard, professional and friendly. Really rather 4 than 5 star ...
Back from a 10-day stay and what stood out as strikingly attractive and memorable -- apart from the superb cleanliness, five-star service and round-the-clock help -- was the 7-star and super friendly and hospitable staff whose name I fail to put in here all. The people there are truly multinational, culturally literate and lovely, so much so that you won't want to leave there. My special thanks go to the warm and adorable people who provided for a last-day send-off surprise of tea and scrumptious cookies in my room.
