My wife and I stayed at the Sofitel Vienna in early August just before heading home. We stayed for 3 nights in a Superior Queen Room. We were traveling from Steyr so arrived by car, it is good to note that when you turn into the hotel it is down a bit of a side street, we almost missed it... More

There isn't a hotel in Europe under the Sofitel flag that isn't as: - Well trained and friendly staffed - Beautiful - Professional in handling little situations. - Clean - Modern - Nice views - .... As the Sofitel Vienna. Looking forward to our next visit! The only thing that needs improvement is the restaurant, food Quality was just "fine"... More

This Hotel is One of the major reasons we loved Vienna. I went with my family and everything was superb. It's in a central location and easily accessible. The rooms were very modern and comfortable. The staff was incredibly professional, friendly and pleasant. They always greet you with a smile and were very supportive, especially BIBO and Alex . That... More

Very comfortable rooms - and all staff very helpful and friendly. A short 5 minute walk over the bridge to the main centre. Fantastic views from the roof top bar and restaurant. We actually thought the hotel was in st Stephens square because of the name - however after our initial surprise we realised it was a great location.

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Nice rooms, good breakfast, good location and a very friendly staff made our stay to a good experience. We travelled with a baby, and there was no problem. The staff took care of everything. Would gladly recommend this hotel to others.

We spent New Year's Eve in Wien and stayed there. Staff is great. The room is very cozy. There's one free bottle of juice and water per day. The only problem I had was with the mattress that is too soft. Location is great. Will come back to this hotel

Our room had the most beautiful view of Vienna. Everytime we woke up we saw the whole cityscape! The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Highlight of the stay was the romantic dinner at Das Loft. The interior of the restaurant was breathtaking! There was a full view of the city at night with this watercolor-like ceiling. And the food?... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
