Hotel's Favorite
The Hotel Weitzer was a very warm and comfortable setting for our recent EuroSimE Conference. The hotel staff was very friendly and approachable. The food was excellent. The hotel location was right near the city center and I was able to walk to quaint restaurants and city sights. I really enjoyed this because I was able to see the Armory and the Cathedral.

Stayed just 1 night, selected the hotel with central location to discover Graz and benefit from nice SPA. Grabbed a good promo price in this COVID period but for this price we got one of the few pure rooms with window to the internal court where you have noisy air conditioning machines all the night.
Could not use SPA because not open in the morning.
Staff at the reception indicated closing hours of the restaurant at 22.30 , we arrived at 21.55 and were told that kitchen is closing at 22.00 .... too bad
Breakfast time reduced, consequently breakfast room was full of people which is not really compliant with COVID distancing rules. Simply bad organzation.
Otherwise hotel with nice design and very good location, including underground parking that is very convenient.

This hotel boasts a practical, prime location close to the old town centre of Graz (and, in our opinon, to some of the best breakfast spots in town, which is not a negligeable benefit). Their employees are not excruciatingly friendly but are nevertheless extremely competent and were even able to accommodate our request for a lower-floor suite. Their bedding is without a doubt the most comfortable that I have ever seen, and the rooms are spacious and imaginatively furnished. All in all, this is a wonderful hotel that I would warmly recommend to anyone who wishes to experience Graz in a quite luxurious light, especially when it comes to the price-performance ratio.
There is just one quite peculiar issue that I think should be advertised more prominently: if you are taking a hot shower with the bathroom door open, the fire alarm will go off, and if/when it does, you will have to pay 500€ (as of November 2022) for the unnecessary visit by the fire brigade. I read this in the hotel leaflet, which is available in every room, but I don't think all guests read these booklets (I do, but I adore hotels and love sniffing around every amenity available in the room). Seeing as this was precisely what must have happened to one of the guests in the hotel when we were staying there (elevators were not working, the fire alarm light in the main lobby was blinking and there was a huge fire truck parked in front of the hotel), I think a more public warning would definitely not have gone amiss.
Staying in this hotel was an extremely pleasant experience and a wonderful surprise. We didn't get the chance to try out their restaurant Der Steirer, but we did spend quite some time in their café (Kaffe Weitzer) - their warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce is nothing short of exquisite!

We disregarded the negative reviews because everyone has a bad day sometimes. But wow when we checked in the lady at the front desk was extremely rude. Not only with us but also with our friends who checked in an hour after us. I had asked for a quiet room because I had saw to request that on reviews and her response was “you’re only staying one night so you should be good” seriously? Then our friends checked in and there was confusion with if they paid online or not—she was not helpful and just flat out rude. No smile, no patience, no hospitality. Beds are fine but the pillows are terrible. However, it was clean. If you don’t care about good hospitality or anywhere close to 4 star service….then stay here! We won’t be back.

Loved it!
I slept so well for all of the five nights that I was there.
Peaceful hotel.
I never heard any noise whatsoever and these are all contributing factors in my 5 * score.
Rooms for a city hotel were adequately sized.
I have no complaints.
Each and every meal was great.
Breakfast buffet was just perfect.
I have to add WONDERFUL FRIENDLY STAFF......... even at breakfast when one knows they’ve had to wake early.
Directly by the river and a mere 60 seconds walk to the heart of Graz.
I’d happily stay here again.
Das Weitzer Graz is just lovely.

The location of this hotel is excellent, the old town is in walking distance and they have a garage. Having checked the reviews on a few websites I however expected a much better hotel. Some rooms are really small, all bathrooms I have seen and heard of in our group are tiny but at modern standard. Breakfast offers quite a few choices, and is served until 11am on weekends. Most staff are not as friendly as one is used to in Austria. Slightly too expensive for what you get.

Dear SusanneMunich, thank you for staying at the Hotel Das Weitzer and thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor. We are glad to read that you enjoyed the central location of the Hotel, as well as the convenient parking location nearby. Due to the fact that the rooms are in a historical building, all our rooms have a different size and shape. We thank you for your kind words in relation to our breakfast and the friendlyness of our colleagues and hope to be welcoming you back soon here in Graz! Kind regards, Ben Fujimoto Duty Manager Hotel Das Weitzer

Our room was a little on the small side but not too cramped. There is a tv, a multipoint connector for USB and mains connection. A mini bar(highly priced) and a fridge. Unfortunately no tea making facilities and a lack of mirror in the bedroom. There is a very good hairdryer but no plug point in the bathroom. The room are made up daily and comfortable and clean. There is a bar and seating are in the large reception. We dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel is nice and quiet and little disturbance at night. The staff are friendly and the location of the hotel is a big plus, it is easy to find and a short walking distance from the main town and many points of interest, restaurants and bars. I would recommend and rebook at the Weitzer should I be in Graz again.

A warm and friendly welcome, nothing to complain about in the room, and well located.
My only criticism - and it’s partly in jest, although only partly - is the dreadful muzak played loudly in the breakfast room...1975 called and wants it back! Seriously, please update it and at the same time turn the volume down. There’s nothing wrong with the appropriate music in a large space such as your breakfast room but yours is the epitome of how to get it dreadfully wrong, both in choice and volume.

I was more than happy with the quality of my stay in this charming hotel in the heart of beautiful Graz, but I certainly had some issues with some rather unprofessional reception staf. First of all, the lady helping us with the check-in never asked for any ID to confirm that I was the one who booked and paid for the weekend-long stay at Das Weitzer. Such a flaw in the security system was a bit odd to me. However, the reason I did not the reception was the rude behaviour by their receptionist Katharina who seemed to be very unprofessional and rude to both my wife and me. I do not want to question this person's qualifications or intentions, but the fact was that she behaved as if we were some beggars from the street. If such people/behaviour remains at this otherwise lovely hotel, we probably won't be coming back there next time we visit Graz. As for the room 246 and the breakfast buffet - I can only highly recommend these!

I was in Graz for a business conference and stayed @ Hotel Das Weitzer in September 2023 for 3 days.
I think the hotel is quite popular in Graz. It is quite centrally located, with the historic old town of Graz just across the river. Popular attractions of Graz such as Kunsthaus, Murinsel, and Schlossberg Funicular are all located at a walkable distance from the hotel.
Also, they do not offer any water. Electric kettles are also not provided by default but you can request for the same at the reception. Unfortunately, when I request for an electric kettle, they were all out, apparently, they do not have sufficient kettles for each room.
The room was clean and well-lit (unfortunately I can't say that it was spacious as it was very narrow). They have separate bathrooms and toilets (with no bidets/health faucets/water jet) which is quite inconvenient.
Some of my colleagues complained of noise from the street but that only indicates that the hotel is in the bustling centre of the city.
As I am a vegetarian, the breakfast options were very limited and no hot veg/vegan dish was available. I just had some bread, a cereal bowl, cut fruit, juice/coffee everyday for breakfast.
I went to try their very popular restaurant "Der Steirer" for dinner, unfortunately, it was full and I couldn't get a seat. I had prior reservations at other places for next 2 days so I couldn't try it later either.
The hotel staff was nice and friendly.
Overall it was an average experience.

Dear Harshneekhra It is wonderful to hear that our hotel's central location was convenient for your stay in Graz, giving you easy access to the historic old town and popular attractions. We regret to hear about your experience with the lack of electric kettles. We truly strive to ensure all our guests have a comfortable and pleasant stay, and will take this into consideration for future improvements. We also acknowledge the points you have raised about the limited vegetarian breakfast options and our popular restaurant being fully booked. We understand the importance of offering a diverse menu to cater to various dietary needs and preferences. Your feedback will certainly be shared with our kitchen team for review. Despite these aspects, we are glad that you found our staff to be friendly and your room clean and well-lit. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel in the future, where we aim to make your next stay even better. Best regards, Andrea Ilic Duty Manager

Dear Ivce,
Many thanks for your message. Not every one of our junior suites has a balcony. But please do not hesitate to tell us your preferences at the booking, so that we can try to provide a room with a balcony for you. Hope to welcome you soon. Best regards, the Weitzer team.
Dear Kate M,
many thanks for your request. The differences between the categories "Economy" and "Classic" is the design, the room layout and the size. In our "Classic" rooms you benefit from a lot of space and also from a great design with the colors red and white and the "Weitzer" headboard above the bed. Our "Economy" rooms are a bit smaller but also offer everything you need for a great stay in our hotel. These rooms are arranged in a modern way and there you have the possibility to get a quiet room straightened to the courtyard. We hope we could help you with this explanation and looking forward to welcome you soon again.
Best regards the Weitzer-Team!
